thanks baba. yeah temu has swords but im done with that cheap crap.ive had about 10 swords about now. mostly chinese and one japanese. one of the biggest things is the ito wrapping. its just way better. the chinese will come apart if not done right. i was just drunk. i cant afford a jap sword right now.

Im always worried about the wrapper coming apart in the oil, i know to wet it and pinch it closed but sometimes they come undone.

Is the handle wrapping made of silk, or leather? And the handle itself is made of wood?

A cat would help with the mice problem, Hawk, or use the mice poison that's like edible to them, looks like light green pebbles.

I have to read up on which playoff teams still have incentive to win, rams eagles and chiefs have pulled their most important starters but others might be fighting for the #2 seed, like bills and ravens.
The packers are the 7th seed and can move up to 6th if the commanders lose to dallas. Theyve won 11 straight vs the bears which is a record in this rivalry. Watching this game should count as self harm for a bears fan but somehow i cant help myself...

the homestead life ain’t as glamorous as one would think

it is definitely a challenge

we haul our water , contractor is off to Hawaii on vacation but should be back to dig a 246 foot ditch from the road back to our tiny house which will be a game changer for us , running water , long hot showers….


having to haul water has made me appreciate life , just being able to wash my hands in hot water is a luxury right now , showers are a real luxury and a lot of effort , have to heat water before shower

washing dishes , same thing , have to heat water

we have an indoor rv porta-potty but I don’t like it , gf says it’s great , but it’s to small for my big arse so I use a 5 gal bucket that has a seat on it , it’s about a 10 yard walk into the woods for me to sit on my great throne and solve the worlds problems , I carry a .45 because there are bears and mountain lions lurking

we heat and cook with propane , 2 burner Coleman stove and a buddy heater keeps us warm

we have a generator to run the lights and small fridge

propane is $2.70 a gallon and we had about $150 bucks for our propane bill in December

we use 3 of the 30 gal cans and use the small 1 gal cans for the cook stove

so basically we are camping , in style

coffee is done perking so imma grab me a cup while it’s hot!

this is all good real time experience for these young guys

how do you fold your rangoons? do you try and make the fancy florette? of the pope hat crown?
i just wrap them in an envelope style, basic triangle, fold in the edges and then seal the flap
super easy peasy and they holf together well in the oil
another thing is to not over stuff them
thats the worse where half the filling will burst forth in the oil and now you have a shitty rangoon plus a lot of burning sht in your oil
so i got a free pizza today! i guess i was supposed to pay for it, but i got to chatting with the girl at the counter and next thing you know im driving home asking myself did i pay for that?
turns out dominoes is rolling out a stuffed crust pizza in feb she said! i would totally try that

Yeah, especially when youre just starting out, homesteading is very rough. Pops is right, you dont really notice how much you appreciate the basic conveniences of modern life until theyre gone. Having running water and hot water on demand is really really nice to have. Hopefully you'll get that somewhat soon.

What are the daytime highs and nighttime lows like? Doesnt look too cold during the day, night time is probably a different story.

At least you got some heavy equipment to help clear the land. Is the plan to build some sort of permanent structure on this land? It would definitely be roomier than a camper but that's a tall order.

Having to be armed while pooping would be a new experience for me, also having to poop in the cold would be annoying as well. Im surprised you just dont dig a cat hole and cover it up every time. Are there plans to build some sort of outhouse or septic system?

I think Jimmy G was photographed having dinner with a porn star 5 yrs ago but since then he's been more low profile. If he is running through porn stars he's in the right city for it, hope he's putting a jimmy on little Jimmy at least.

Helluva project to take on, @bigsur51 . Building a dream is the same as eating an elephant. Stay strong and much success to you two pioneers.

The Ravens did well yesterday. I did not watch the second game due to my light tight eyelids.
The Saints are coming to Baker's place near the Bay and the Dolphins are Big Apple bound. Both games are over the air and I will be tuned in and awake.

Jan. 3rd was our 44th anniversary and MamaD wanted filet mignon. This is what I did.
Peppercorn seasoning from a Christmas present and twine from the kitchen drawer was the start.

Brought the meat out of the fridge to room temp before they dropped into a hot cast iron pan. Sear, Suckers!

Once seared I stuck a temperature probe set to 145 into the smaller filet. Then the pan went into a 400 degree oven.
Time to make something in a pan with butter and garlic while the meat came up to medium.

I did not take a picture of the plated meal. Sorry, but the filets looked like this when they came out of the oven. The reddish glow in the pictures comes from the heat lamps warming plates. Happy New Year

Is there such a thing as a sword handle made of ivory or bone? Or maybe those are just for gun grips.

I bought a long sword for around $200 i think years ago, and it was a pretty solid piece of metal. I think u can get a functional carbon steel katana for less than 5-600, Hawk, but maybe u have specific sword maker in mind. Maybe that guy Hattori Hanzo, from the Kill Bill movies, his swords can slice through solid steel.

Egg wash or water to moisten and seal up the edges, thats right, Hawk. I havent made anything fried in a long time, because of the mess and smell and also it's not healthy. Doesnt prevent me from eating fried foods from restaurants tho.

Im sorry if 2025 isnt starting off too well for you, hopefully things will calm down and you'll have better relationships with the family. Theyre all any of us have, in the end.

If it doesnt drop below freezing at night, even in Jan, that's pretty decent, i could work with that. The rain is an issue tho. Can you grow crops/veggies there? With so much rain you probably hardly need to water, but powdery mildew and other fungi could be an issue.

I learned a new word today, barndominium. Looks spacious. Now will you be keeping animals in there or it's strictly humans and machinery only? I suppose you could keep a horse or cow in the same building if it's separated, dont want to be smelling them all the time.

Fins dont have tua, who's out with a hip injury. Is this the same hip he fractured in his last college game? Worrisome with all these injuries, concussions, etc. Good for him that he got his bag before the season started but i think the league needs a reset on these escalating QB salaries.

I figured Buzz's steakhouse would rival any fancy sit down place, even made a delicious mushroom gravy. Hawk has made some killer steaks w/ sauce too and he didnt even have an oven.
Would searing the bacon on the side of the steak be an option? I guess it's traditional to just leave it be, it's fully cooked and soft anyway when plated.
