checked out the meteor shower on saturday night and made some fresh cana butter and candies
the candied apples dident come out like i was expecting
we cut the apples into bite sized pieces, but i guess that cut parts were too moist for the caramel to really sick to
we now have a big slab of apple and candy
we might try again but im kind of over it and will just stick to making candy for now

If Herbert had that game against the raiders last week on MNF (400yds, 4 pass 1 rush td) I would have won my matchup lol. But he helped me out a lot this week in my win, my opponent had josh allen who had a great game himself (3 pass 1 rush td).
Chiefs D is back to being stinky stinky, they’re giving up like 7.1 yds per play, and the record for offenses is the 2000 Rams (kurt warner and the greatest show on turf) at 7.0 yds per play, so basically whoever the chiefs have faced their offense ends up performing at a historically great level.
And ur right, Mahomes and the chiefs O are turning over the ball way too much, mahomes I think is on pace for 20 ints this year, he had 6 and 5 the last 2 seasons, and 12 his first season starting (also had 50tds). He’s on pace for 45 tds and 20 ints which isnt jameis winston bad but yeah, makes it hard to win games, also puts his already bad defense in even worse situations. Maybe their offense has been ‘figured out’? Rush 4, double cover tyreek and kelce, and trust mahomes to overlook the easy dumpoffs and short throws, escape the pocket and try to YOLO the ball downfield? "Fuck it, Tyreek down there somewhere?"

The bears top RB David Montgomery got injured against the lions, think his knee was hyperextended but not torn so he should be back in 4-6 weeks. The backup RBs are good though, Damien Williams (won a superbowl with KC, think he’s from your old high school?) and a rookie Khalil herberts. So far the bears are running an old school offense, like 65% run plays, mixed in with deep shots from fields, grind it out, work the time of possession and field position game and let the well-rested defense get sacks and turnovers. So far it racked up 2 wins against the lions and raiders, they play the packers this week though so we’ll see if they can keep Rodgers in check cause the bears’ offense isnt exactly high scoring lol.

Makes sense that cut apples are too moist/wet for the caramel to stick to, works much better on apple skin than apple ‘flesh’. So you got a panful of a big mess of caramel and cut up apples? Haha, as long as you keep it refrigerated should be alright, if it gets you high that’s the most important thing amirite?

I never did sign up for pointsbet, they even offered me a $35 uber ride to go to their nearest location which I don’t think it would cover the whole cost (especially the ride back) and I drive anyway but makes me suspicious, haha, they really want me to give them money for betting. an old school offense suits a young qb as long as he makes smart throws, let the ground game do most of the heavy lifting and take what you can get

Yeah, Ricky Williams is also from SD? California in general produces a lot of athletes because of its large and diverse population and relatively well-funded school sports. The year round good weather doesn’t hurt either.
Damien does everything pretty well, especially pass catching. And ur right, heavy reliance on the run game to set up justin fields’ deep balls makes the game easier for the rookie and plays to his strengths. As a bonus even though they run so much fields hasn’t had many rushing attempts, saving wear and tear on his body.

Yeah I was getting pissed at that game cause I wanted the ravens to win and turned it off in the 3[SUP]rd[/SUP] qtr but afterwards found out that lamar was on fire and had 400+ pass yds and 4 pass td’s. I guess teams lately have really been trying to shut down the ravens run game, helped by the fact their O-line and RBs are at best average now, so Lamar is forced to sling it downfield and he’s had some rough stretches but also proving he can win games on his arm alone. Not bad for a running back, as he would say.

Giants wont have saquon but they might have danny dimes back if he passes concussion protocols. Also keep an eye on their rookie 1[SUP]st[/SUP] round pick, WR Kadarious Toney. People are saying he’s the next Odell Beckham Jr. He’s certainly very shifty, he kinda reminds me of Tyreek Hill with his ability to cut and change direction and also accelerate, even though he doesn’t have Reek’s top end speed (but who does, really?).

Cardinals vs Browns should be very interesting for sure, AZ is the best team in the league (them or the Bills) and the Browns are also legit good on both offense and defense. Browns aren’t the superbowl contender that AZ is but theyre up there and like u said earlier, they gave the chargers all they could handle.

I know ralph bakshi from his Lord of the Rings animated movie from the 70s, it wasn’t exactly like peter jackson’s epic trilogy from the early 2000’s (damn I feel old haha) but it was the best adaptation available for a long time. Didn’t know this dude made some adult animated stuff, now im intrigued. Are they actually good/entertaining, or more just shock value?
Ill finish setting up my account at pointsbet, I think they’ll give me some free food rewards at the casino or racetrack I sign up at but yeah, im not seriously expecting to profit long term from sports betting. Some people can make a living at it if they’ve got a good system or some inside info but yeah, most people end up losers in the long run.

i think there are about 5-6 teams you could say are the best right now, az and cle are definitely in that mix
i would like to see the rams win more against top teams, but beating tompa bay earned them some props
chargers are probably playing as hot as anyone in the west right now but always remember, f-spanos

san diego has produced a lot of top tallent, let not forget marcus allen
i met r.williams when i was a kid and what really stood out to me was he looked like a grown man when the rest of us were just hot shit kids
a lot of the better players in the county are recruited and sent to certain schools with the best programs 9often in better areas)
i hope this kid can tote the ball for your bears and you guys start to get some of the respect you deserve, i know chicago fans can be tough but i feel like the bears are getting no respect like rodney dangerfield (hows that for old man!)

it was good as you could get for the time alloted, they had to fit the stort into one movie instead of like over hundreds of hours (ok not that long but a lot more time to develope the story)
fritz the cat wasnt that great but a lot of his other stuff was really ground breaking satire and just kicked ass
heavy metal had like a bunch of deifferent stories so i think there were several animators involved, but for its time it was ground breaking quality
/nothing like the pixar stuff you see now but still, this was all hand animated in the old ways
coonskin is another great one but he had several good animated movies; they might seem a little dated now but if you remember the times they bring back some sweet memories

Maybe packers or cowboys or ravens at #6? They’re all 4-1 and have potent offenses and not bad defenses.
Sucks that spanos (eff that guy) lucked into a franchise QB and some decent coaching, but hopefully karma will get him eventually. And even in a bigger market with a new stadium I don’t think his ticket sales are that good.

Yeah, there’s some powerhouse high school football programs that are like mini-colleges, parents will move into their school district to have their kids play for that team. Mater Dei in Socal is one, there’s a couple in TX (lake travis and one other?), im sure there’s a few scattered around the country like that.

Fields might have to let it loose against the packers if the bears cant keep Rodgers from putting up 25+ on them. The 65-35 run-pass ratio has worked the past couple weeks when the bears weren’t giving up more than 15pts but if they fall behind by 2 or more scores they’ll be forced to throw more so we’ll see if fields can step up to the task. Packers D isnt nearly as good as the Browns (not that it showed against Herbert) and fields has a couple more games under his belt so maybe it’ll be different if he has to carry this offense.

Im not sure if Jalen ramsey shadows (follows one WR the whole game) much nowadays? I could be wrong though. Im sure he’ll get his opportunities against Toney, I guess it depends on the play call too, sometimes he’ll peel off his man because he’s expecting safety help and if it doesn’t come he gets burned. We’ll see, regardless the rams are expected to win easily vs the giants, like u said, giants are a hobbled team right now (saquon and golladay are out, Daniel jones might be cleared of concussion protocol though).

Ill have to check out Bakshi’s movies, yeah, the hand drawn animation looks a lot different than the computer stuff nowadays, but still looks very good. Maybe not as much detail as computer stuff but very smooth and beautiful nonetheless.
That’s a good point about the LotR movie having to condense 3 big books into one movie, even peter jackson’s movies, it was like 9 hrs total but they had to leave a lot of stuff out of the books. I always felt that the trilogy should be like 6 movies, 2 for each book. I even think the books were split into part 1 and part 2 for each book, fwiw.

It’s nice that the which wich is convenient to you, actually I was in the city yesterday and could have snagged some $5 specials but it’s in some fancy mall downtown and parking is like $14 for a few hours so I would have lost money on the deal anyway haha. But let me know if it’s better or same or worse this time.

I remember the Hobbit animated movie pretty well, I downloaded it in fact a couple years ago and watched a little bit. More slow paced than I remember from when I was a kid, didn’t finish it but at least I have a copy.
Never heard of this heavy metal animated movie, I guess it was based on the magazine of the same name? I was never into heavy metal music but sex drugs and head banging music always makes for a good time. I think they released a sequel, Heavy Metal 2000, back in 2000.
What do you think of Fields and the Bears now? Won 2 games in a row, 3-2 on the year having lost to two playoff teams (rams and browns) and now facing the packers at soldier field. I like their chances even though packers are favored by 5.5pts. Packers D isnt as good as last year (they just lost their best cornerback and one of the best in the league, Jaire alexander) and rodgers is on pace for merely a very good year instead of a historically great one. If the bears can establish the run and play keep away from Rodgers, I think they can pull this one out…

Hmm, that’s good that you haven’t had any run-ins again, but not so good that they still come by to your neighbors. Hopefully soon they’ll stop coming by as often and you can relax a bit more.
Ill have to check that movie out, and definitely try to watch it while drunk and/or high, although I tend to pass out then lol.

Fields had a terrible first start but this run heavy offense is letting him learn on the job without being pressured to try to play hero ball. Youre right though, packers will be a big test, and he’s been a bit more careless with the ball than you’d like.

The only other matchups between winning teams this week, other than bears-packers, is chargers/ravens at noon, cardinals/browns at 3pm and bills/titans on MNF. I know Pop has been talking up the chargers and cardinals games so those should be good to watch if theyre being broadcasts in your area and you can get a signal.

Are you talking about Herbert vs Lamar as two of the best QBs going head to head? Cant be Kyler vs Baker, baker has a hurt non-throwing shoulder that’s been messing him up, doubt he’ll throw for 30td’s this year (he’s never thrown for 30 in a season before) but with the run game he doesn’t need to. Speaking of which, Nick chubb is out with a calf injury so it’s the kareem hunt show, he led the league in rushing his rookie year with KC and he’s showing again that he’s still a stud.

Curbside pickup is a thing with some restaurants but I doubt any restaurants in this mall would do it, there’s no street parking around the block plus it’d take them at least 5-10mins to run it out to your car since they’d need to take elevators and such. Im not worried, there’s some locations in the burbs ill probably get to in time.

All day parking downtown Chicago is more like $30 or so, with some parking apps you could find decent discounts for like $20 or so, but isn’t downtown san diego just as expensive if not more so or is it not as congested and you could find street parking more easily? Never been to SD myself, but I know LA, as a newer city, is more spread out than older cities back east that, when they were started, cars weren’t even around, it was mostly horse and carts back then..

Ive heard of mater dei only because their QBs usually go to USC and in general a decent amount of their players, for a high school, make it to the NFL. Plus don’t they have like a 100 game winning streak or something? Or did, maybe they lost and started a new one. I haven’t heard of paul rudy but he has a prep pigskin report for SD? I know high school football is huge in TX and the south and seems like Cali has some big time programs too.

Yeah, it happens all the time. I remember seeing a taxi cab confessions show years and years ago, and the passenger was talking about how he’d gamble in vegas and be up like 50k, 100k, 250k, and then he’d lose it all again. I guess he rationalized it by saying it was never really his money to begin with, it was all fake or something. I guess when youre up big like that and lose it all you have to do mental gymnastics to not beat yourself up too much.

Fwiw I hope you win, even if the bet was on the packers lol. To be honest, I expect the bears to lose by more than 5.5pts, but I hope at least it’s somewhat competitive (not lose by more than 2 scores).

he has gotten off to a slow start but i think he is on the rise
i am a big fan of k.hunt and think he would still be starting in kc if not for what happened

Well, that chargers-ravens score was rather surprising. The bolts have a pretty bad run D and each of the ravens geriatric RBs got a TD (latavious murray, leveon bell, Devonta freeman) but Herbert wasn’t able to get anything going on offense, throwing for 1td, 1 int and less than 200 yds. Ah well, everyone has a bad game once in a while.
On the other hand, the cardinals took care of business even without their head coach who was out with covid. That machine just keeps rolling along, and JJ watt has improved their run D so theyre not an easy out for anyone. Maybe one weakness is their kicker, matt prater, who was on the lions for a long time. He’s got one of the strongest legs in the league, but for some reason his accuracy on shorter kicks (30 some yards) isnt any better than for longer kicks (40-50+ yds). That might hurt them down the road but so far kyler and that offense keeps finding the end zone.

The bears lost to the packers yet again, they kept Rodgers under 25pts (24) but couldn’t score more than 14 themselves. So far the bears are averaging 120 passing yds per game this year, that’s like 1960’s numbers. Maybe they should just incorporate the triple option or single wing offense because, in this era of shotgun spread, no huddle quick tempo offense, it’s shameful that a team is averaging less than 150yds passing per game.

There was a sale on some bottom round roasts for $3 per lb, so made some Italian beef for Sunday. Used a bunch of seasoning, salt pepper oregano crushed red pepper basil thyme fennel bay leaves garlic powder. After 3 hours on high and another 5 hours on low it was shred-dable with forks. Turned out alright, maybe not as good as the last time I made it (last winter?) but definitely hearty and meaty and filling.

I missed the Sunday night football game, wasn’t interested in seeing a game between geno smith and a washed up ben Roethlisberger, but youre right Pop, it ended up in OT so pretty competitive overall.
Last night’s MNF game was pretty good too, high-scoring, lot of late lead changes and then bills went for it on 4[SUP]th[/SUP] down near the titan’s end zone and josh allen got stuffed. I guess he slipped on the play otherwise a big athletic dude like that should have picked up the 1 foot easily, probably should have scored too.

So you’re going to be out all Sunday? Rams lions shouldn’t be any more competitive than ram-giants last week so you probably wont miss much. And it’s good to get out, can’t be stuck inside watching football all day every week haha.

What kind of meats do you bring on camping trips? Is it mostly pre-cooked stuff, dried stuff like jerky, or straight up raw meat? I guess you try to avoid bringing raw meat even on short camping trips, stuff like hot dogs are fully cooked but can also be heated over a fire if you want some char on them. I think you can also buy fully cooked bacon so that’s another option if you don’t want to cook it yourself.
The beef was good, we got some French rolls and ive been eating on that the last couple days, maybe next time ill sear the meat before cooking, maybe use real garlic instead of garlic powder, less red pepper, etc. Also I think last year when I made Italian beef I used a much better cut of beef, like ribeye, not bottom round, but it still came out good this time nonetheless, and real IB in restaurants they also use a much leaner cut of beef than ribeye.

Browns broncos may just be an OK game, broncos aren’t really playing that well and browns are without kareem hunt (calf) and may be without chubb (also calf) and Mayfield (keeps separating his non-throwing shoulder, is getting a 2[SUP]nd[/SUP] opinion on it this week). But it’s still football so not all bad.
