you might be on to something there ag'
send in a play and run a quick snap so the defense he sees when he walks to the line is the coverage
add in some quick screen plays and slants and dink and dunk your way down field until the big play opens up

Well the good thing for the Rams is that they have 3 easy games in a row coming up. That an I'm sure Jalen Ramsey will help their D get off the field.

Its not great that their passing game got shut out like that but the rams have the falcons and the bengals the next 2 weeks, two of the worst defenses in football, so im sure they’ll get back on track. Ur right though, goff looking bad vs elite defenses is worrisome. It’s alright to look avg or below avg against a truly great D, but playing like a 3rd string emergency QB is another thing entirely. But like u said, the chiefs and cowboys have run into some roadblocks as well, we’re in the middle part of the season where everything will sort itself out.

The 49ers have really come together on defense, I remember a couple years ago, even after investing top draft picks in the Def line 3 yrs in a row, they had like the worst run D in the league. Now, with nick bosa and some other new guys, they might be the best D in the league, along with the patriots and bears. We’ll see how they do against the hawks this year, should be some good battles.

I like cumin in general, in taco meat and chili, but when you use a lot of it it can get really spicy. I remember once I had these fresh pulled noodles from a Chinese restaurant, they used a ton of cumin in the seasoning and stuff was so spicy I could barely finish it.

The thing I like about pico is that u can throw it on Mexican food as a substitute for tomatoes/onions, since that’s basically what it is, so it’s like a sauce plus veggies in one. But ur right, there’s a whole world of sauces out there for just about every cuisine, most people only experience the most generic versions.

That’s an interesting idea, have goff run a hurry up tempo offense every play. Encourages shorter throws, defense cant substitute or change plays. Hopefully mcvay reads this forum so our ideas get to him.

Lions got straight up robbed by the refs on MNF, 2 phantom hands to the face penalties on Detroit gave first downs to the packers and let them score the go ahead points. Fwiw, the lions earlier did benefit from the terrible refs, I think their one rushing TD in the 1st quarter, it wasn’t certain the ball crossed the goal line, it was eventually ruled a TD but initially one ref signaled 1st down packers while another ruled a score. So right off the bat u knew it was going to be a rough game with the officials.

Rams made some big changes in their secondary, aqib talib went to injured reserve, marcus peters was traded to the ravens for a 5th rd pick, and they sent two 1st round picks to the jags for Jalen ramsey. He’s probably the best cover corner in the league, but supposedly he doesn’t like to play zone, which the rams run the majority of the time, so we’ll see how he fits in.

j.ramsey should be an upgrade to the rams secondary but we sure did pay top dollar
/two first round picks (2020&2021) and a 4rth (2021)
but im on board with the move as long as it shakes things up and gets us back on track
the downside is he is only signed through 2021 so we are going to have to negotiate a new deal for him and might be running into some cap troubles
trading away peters freed up some money but it looks like jalen is out to make top dollar for his position
/could this open the door for a move in the future to free up some cap space?
but we need to win now so lets welcome him on board and pick up a win against the falcons
ive done that before baba' where i would just use the pico as the tomatoes and onions on a taco
plus you get all this juicy goodness
you are so right about some spices being overpowering
cummin is great and has this weird taste that is hard to describe but you know it when its there
the lions got totally jobbed man and some of this could have been corrected
/especially the hands to the face call
is it just me or are we seeing a lot of penalties effect the outcome of games this season
im not one of those people who push for more rules and bureaucracy but the refs need to be able to review plays in the booth and self correct for bad plays
isnt gambling going to be legalized here soon? imagine how this can go if there is real money on the line and you have the calls we have been seeing ruin games
there need to be a lot more oversight in the nfls standards and bad calls like that cant be allowed to stand

I think the ref's have a hair across their azz about the PI challenge rule. So they are calling 3x's as many penalties that can't be challenged. Ref's and umps don't like being corrected or challenged, they want full control of the game and that is what they are doing.

Hey AG, I wrote my last post without seeing your post from yesterday, so I kind of repeated some of your talking points. My bad.

There was talk about having a ‘booth’ ref, someone up high who can overturn/review every call, when they were considering what to do about the NO/Rams playoff game last year. That never panned out and they made a worse solution by having every PI or non-PI call reviewable, which coaches have like a 5% success rate in challenging so far this season.

I think the supreme court ruled that sports gambling is legal, so now every state can have their own sports books, not just in vegas or atlantic city. Not sure how that affects nfl games, I guess it just means the underground bookies and overseas gambling sites are legit now if they can be licensed. But a lot of people were openly wondering if that ref who called the hands to the face penalties was on the take, it was so sketchy. Like, a first year ref wouldn’t call that, how does a ref with 20-30 years of experience make that mistake, twice?

Rams are top heavy for sure, I think next year their top 4-5 players will take up half of their salary cap. And not having draft picks to load up on cheap young talent isn’t ideal either. This was definitely a win-now move for them, we’ll see how it works out. Ramsey should be useful this next game, he can cover Julio, that will be a good test of his abilities.

One of my favorite items at taco bell was the mexi-melt, which was a flour tortilla with cheese, beef and pico rolled up and steamed. Cheese got all melted, the onions and tomatoes and spices from the pico got all warmed up, it was like perfect, simple junk food to me. But I guess not that many people liked it since they took it off the menu.
The cumin noodles were weird to me since I've only experienced spicy food from actual hot peppers, not from cumin. Didn’t know cumin could be spicy if you used enough of it. I guess curry can also be spicy without having to use hot peppers?

Tonite we have chiefs at broncos. Broncos have got their defense back, ever since Bradley chubb was injured, which is weird. Mahomes has been hobbled by a high ankle sprain, he’s been playing with it heavily wrapped but each game it’s gotten stepped on or aggravated. Before it gets aggravated he plays well, afterwards he’s hobbled and cant scramble or step into his throws. People are saying that maybe he should just take 2-3 weeks off, let it heal fully, without risking further injury.

fresh spices can be tricky for sure, especially compared to the dried kind you get in stores
/ have you ever eaten a pepper corn?
the pepper trees grow really well here in san diego and you will find them out in the back country growing wild from time to time
they are the red ones i guess (at least the paper husk is red) and these things will bring tear to your eyes
the cool thing about the bell' is they can still make you almost about anythign they had in the past if you ask
this sunday we might go otu to eat at this mexican place that had the mexican cow mein
a lot of that cap money is tied up in j.goff and t.gurley
if we were able to shift one of them it would free up some cap space and maybe bring something of value in return
i think ramsey will be an overall plus to the defense and hes already excited about playing for the rams
hope your week is wrapping up nicely baba' (you too ag'!) and you have a great weekend on the horizon

Ive used dried whole black peppercorns in cooking before, once or twice, but didnt know they grew on trees. Youve got a bunch of pepper trees growing wild in SD? You ever collect some to use in cooking? I use ground black pepper almost every time i use salt, but not too much. I guess maybe you have to roast the fresh ones or dry them before using? If you use enough black pepper you can definitely put some kick into a dish.
I might try asking for some custom orders at the Bell next time i go, who knows they might still have a button for it it's just not on the menu anymore.

That mexican chow mein must be pretty fire for you to go back, huh? What makes it 'mexican', though? The seasonings or the meat?

Today or tomorrow i might fire up the cooker, have some steaks, burgers and a chicken to cook up. Will post pics if/when i do...

Moving a player with a big contract is hard to do unless the other team is really desperate, but it's possible. Hard for me to think of an example, but tampa and tennessee might need new qb's after this year, miami houston or KC might want an elite RB too.
It'll be interesting to see how ramsey affects the Rams, the nfc west doesnt have elite outside WRs, the best ones play from the slot mostly (Lockette, Fitzgerald) so in the division he might not have the most impact unless he's really good in zone coverage.

Pat mahomes dislocated his knee cap last night against the broncos on a QB sneak, it was popped back in and he was able to walk off the field but didnt return. If there's no ligament damage he'll probably be back in 2-3 weeks. There's been so many injuries to big time players lately, brees ben cam mahomes saquon, kamara now has a high ankle sprain and will probably miss the bears game. That's football i guess, such a rough sport...

mahomes was walking on his own after the game last night; hopefully it isnt anything too serious but i wouldent be surprised if he misses a game or two
/we will see if the raiders can take advantage of his absence and make a move in the afc-w
you are right about injuries really taking their toll on a lot of teams, but we are gettin to see a lot of good play from some unexpected heros as well
look at how allen is playing in carolina; for an undrafted qb he is playing like his hair is on fire and he might have just won himself a staring job
your bears play the saints and they have kept on on pace with bridgewatter under center
and who can forget the porn stashed head band wearing gunslinger in jax
/if he can put up a couple more w's could he become the jags new starter?
there might be a few of the young qbs on the trading block here next season
/maybe miami would make a deal for cam? how about marriota
the mexican chow mein is called fideo and a friend at work said its super easy to make
i guess its the meat that really makes it mexican style, i like to get the carnitas style but they also have pollo asado and the mrs like the shrimp version
there are pepper corn trees growing all over san diego
i think some are landscaped but ive seen a few out in the middle of nowhere when riding my mountain bike
ive never picked them myself but ive seen people gathering the seeds
i have taken the fresh bean off the tree and ate it, thats something you only do once
it was super butter and super hot and i spit it out pretty quick
that would be great if you could post up some picks of whatever you decide to lay on the grill; sounds like you are getting good use out of that grill my man!
the candy thermometer came in the mail yesterday and the mrs is making caramels this weekend
i got the recipe off a friend here on ic_mag (fiddynuts) and cant wait to try them out
halloween is right around the corner, do you guys do anything special for the holiday?
have a great weekend my man and enjoy the changing seasons

Yeah, the medical staff popped his kneecap back in pretty quick and he even refused help walking off the field, all good signs for him coming back soon. Unfortunately for the bears, he might miss the games against the packers and Vikings, but will be back in time against the bears (week 16).

That kyle allen dude is an interesting case, he was actually the #1 pocket passer coming out of high school and went to Texas a&m, where he competed with kyler murray for the job. Then both he and kyler transferred, he went to Houston and kyler to Oklahoma. He started for Houston for a bit but was a turnover machine (think he threw like 3 pick 6’s against alabama) and got benched and he declared for the draft and went undrafted, hooked on with Carolina and has been with them for a couple years until finally getting his chance with cam’s injury. He’s got a cannon arm and hasn’t thrown a pick yet, I still think u start cam if he’s healthy but kyle allen at least has earned a bigger contract with his play this year.

Minshew is special for a 6th round pick but he had a bad game against the saints last week, I think foles will start practicing soon as well. I think you have to give foles a chance again when healthy, he barely had any playing time so far (broke his collarbone week 1).

I remember now you calling it fideo, im trying to look up recipes for it but it looks like more of a mexican spaghetti than a chow mein. Still, I think any dish can be made ‘asian’ or ‘chinese’ by using Asian type seasonings: soy sauce, hoison sauce, sesame oil, etc. I wonder if Chinese food is a popular cuisine in Mexico, like it is in the US, and if it’s heavily modified to suit their tastes. Like American Chinese food isn’t really similar to what they serve in china.

Yeah, been breaking out the grill every couple weeks to cook up a bunch of food. I’ll probably stop if theres a bunch of show or it gets really cold, do all my cooking indoors where it will at least warm up the house. You inspired me to do some cooking over charcoal, so thanks for that!

Love me some caramel, I’ve made dulce de leche by cooking up some sweetened condensed milk in a can, that makes a nice dessert topping. She going to get fancy with it, add chocolate and nuts and toppings to the caramel?
I don’t do much for Halloween, I have a friend who does all the house decorations and stuff. But IME people don’t trick or treat as much anymore, so ill get a little bit of candy ready but I hardly use any of it. I do love some reeses pieces, so whatever doesn’t get handed out ill have for leftovers.

morning baba'! hope your saturday is starting off right
the fideo they make is definitely more on the asian side, the noodles have that charing on them and you can tell they were cooked in a really hot wok
i will be sure to elt you know how the caramels come out man, im usually not that into eating weed but im kind of looking forward to trying these
/plus my man fiddy said they were pretty good so i have to try them out
there were a few nice chineese places the last time i went down to tj, but im not going to mexico to eat asian food
i know there is a lot of chineese moving to mexico, they go there and hope to cross the border into the us
you are right that the jags have to give foles a shot, especially with the amount of money they are paying him
i think cam is a different story and carolina would be crazy to pull allen with his win streak
/great backstory
thats rad that you are having fun with the gtrill my man
i remember when it was looking pretty rough and now look at you go my man
plus it sounds like you are having fun making good food so thats like its own reward
enjoy your day brother!

Weed caramels? Hmm, might have to check out fiddy's thread, that definitely sounds interesting.
There are chinese people crossing the border from mexico into the US? That reminds me of that old cheech and chong movie, cheech was deported to mexico by accident and had to work jobs to make it back, one job he had to teach english to some migrant workers. His boss was like "theyre chinese, or indian, or something". One of those workers was a young actor who would go on to play bruce lee in a biopic about lee's life. Fun stuff.

U may very well be right, maybe kyle allen and minshew continue to start even when cam and foles are healthy. It's hard to sit a former MVP and super bowl MVP, but if the team is winning (kyle is undefeated, minshew has a couple close losses) then maybe they pull a belichick and stick with the young guy over the established vet (brady over bledsoe, back in the day).

whos ready for some football!?
yeah fiddy has all these good recipes and he recently said he made these candies that sounded pretty good
i like caramel and i like weed, plus its easier to eat than a rice crispy treat
/the mrs loves to make those
i hear a lot more of the people crossing the southern border illegally are not mexicans but from other places
but im sure a lot of them find a better life in mexico and just start a new life there bringing all their culture with them
i think j.allen has a way better shot of taking the starting job from cam with his perfect record; plus i think this was cams "prove it" year to see if the panthers resign him...
minshaw is a different story and i think foles will be back under center like you had said
but i am looking forward to seeing where this young kid goes
hope you enjoy the games my man and i hope your bears get a w against the saints

Ive been checking out Fiddy's thread a bit, yeah a fair bit of food knowledge gets tossed around there. That red beans and rice he made in the instant pot sounds fire, i love some good beans and rice.

If anything, i love rice crispy treats more than caramel, so might actually prefer that, but i get your point, you can just pop a caramel into ur mouth whereas a rice crispy treat takes a few bites to go down, leaves ur hands sticky.

U might have a good point about cam, i think the panthers dont owe cam any more guaranteed money to him so they can trade or cut him pretty easily. Same with mariota, who got replaced by tannehill yesterday and the titans offense looked much better.

Well, it's official. Trubisky is a bust, and without hicks at def tackle the defense isn't all-world anymore. The nfl trade deadline is next week, wonder if the bears will try to acquire someone...

that sucks about the loss to the saints, but teddy has really stepped up his game replacing an injured d.brees
i hear you on not being happy with your qbs play, but who would you look to acquire if the bears were to make a trade at this point in the season?
/i think we will see a lot of qbs moving around this off season
rams looked good playing a worn out falcons team, but it looked like j.ram stepped right in
9ers continued to shine and had a fun game beating the skins'
the field was super wet and they had rain throughout the game; it was wild, with players splashing through water and there were guys sliding all over the place, but the sf offense could only put up 9 pts
we ended up running out of time with the candies, we made the butter but after our nap we dident really have time to start cooking the caramel
i love me some good red beans and rice too and thats one of the things we will have to make soon in the insta-pot; those things kick ass

Honestly mariota has been various flavors of bad to terrible since his rookie year, so he might not be an upgrade on trubs at this point. I wouldnt mind Cam but who knows if the panthers would give him up, and the draft picks they would ask for might be too steep. Jameis might be available after the season, but he's a walking turnover machine which i've lived through once before (cutler) so no thank you. I dont know, maybe if the bears finish with a bottom 10 record they can draft one of the college dudes: Fromm, Hurts; Tua and Herbert might need a top 5 pick.

Ramsey helped the rams shut down the falcons offense, atlanta is not a good team but their O was pretty good so that was impressive. Maybe that will be their formula for winning, a good enough O and a shut down D.

Yeah, the niners-redskins score was a bit surprising, i figured SF would pound washington but like you said, the weather made it difficult to score points.

I love the red beans and rice at popeye's, it's probably got a ton of salt and fat but man does it have good flavor. I also like brazilian style black beans and rice, which is probably healthier.

One thing led to another and i never did get a chance to break out the cooker this weekend but it should be rain free this week so i should be able to cook this week sometime, maybe even today...

sometimes there just isnt enough time in the day to do everything we have planned
/mrsChicky is notorious for over planning her days
the good thing is, we have the butter all made so all we have to do is make the candy
i tihnk we will wait until next weekend to do that
whats brazillian style beans and rice? the mrs makes this cuban style beans and rice wiht yellow rice and black beans, then she tops it with fresh chopped onions and cilantro
super good and super fresh
i think ramsey definitely helped out the rams defense, if nothing else he can take the opposing teams wr#1 out of the picture and hopefully buy the pass rush an extra second or two
im not sure if the bears will finish low enough to have a shot at one of the top qbs in the draft but they might be able to trade up a few spots to get one
i guess we will ahve to wait and see how trubs finishes off his season and go from there
so were you able to get that bbq fired up today? hope your week is off to a great start

My introduction to pro football was visiting my parents' house in 1980 or 81 ... my brother was watching TV.

This guy named Joe Montana threw a pass to this guy named Dwight Clark.

People got really excited.

I was focussed on more important things like, what was for dinner ?

I think Brazilian beans and rice is black beans and long grain rice, probably not too different than Columbian beans and rice or Mexican black beans and rice, just not much seasoning (tomatoes, achiote) in the rice. Probably very similar to the Cuban beans and rice the mrs makes also?

It was rainy and wet earlier today but should be dry the rest of the week, have to cook up this meat before it goes bad, will post pics then for sure. Also been kind of lazy too, lol.

Hopefully bears mgmt realizes whats happening and doesn’t give trubs a big extension, that would be like throwing gasoline on the fire, we need to start looking elsewhere for our franchise QB. Trouble is he might put up good numbers against bad teams, tricking mgmt into thinking he’s good.

Some people like Halloween best of all the holidays, I can see why, it’s really unlike every other holiday, has this dark edge to it that you don’t see at Christmas or thanksgiving, etc. Is she really into horror movies?
I actually found fiddy’s caramel recipe, it seems really good. Lot of butter, brown sugar, corn syrup, etc. Which I guess is like every other caramel recipe, lol, lots of sugar and fat. If I ever made cannabutter instead of canna-oil I’d like to try it.

Hey SP, I hear you. Reminds of an analogy that sports teams are like strippers, they dont care about the fans, they only care about how much money the fans bring in. Makes me wonder why i spend so much time following sports, but everyone needs a hobby...

Patriots blanked the jets last night, made darnold look worse than trubisky. With a defense like this, i guess brady's 7th championship will be his easiest?

speaking of all hollows eve, im seeing ghosts!
as a kid halloween was one of my favorite hollidays
the one night a year i could stay out after dark and all the neighbors would give us candy?!?
/sheeyahh!
now im the one giving out the candy and the kids just dont trick or treat like they used to, but i still enjoy the fun
the dark edge and all the folklore that surrounds the night is another thing and i will always enjoy a good ghost story
that brazillian rice sounds about the same as the cuban rice the mrs makes, long grain rice with blk beans ; you cant go wrong wiht that combination
im thinking that the bears might be able to score one of the hot back up qbs that are really shining right now
bridgewater is probably going to want a nice fat deal this off season, as will minshew and a couple other young guns
i would be warry of taking a chance on guys like newton, mariotta etc; they have kind of shown they arent trhe ones who will turn a franchise around but they will still want big contracts
the value plays will be guys like allen, minshew and bridgewater who arent making starter money but have show they can put up points and lead a defense
/im not sure about the contract statue of any of these guys so its just pipe talk for now
but i am wondering if trubinski is the qb they thought he would develop to be when they traded up for him in the draft
the caramel recipe looks dank and im going to try it out for sure! we have the butter so the hard part is done and it would be nice to have some nice candy for the adults who come by this halloween

Yeah, the jets are mad that darnold’s “im seeing ghosts” made it on air. I guess the nfl mic’ed up people decide what makes it to broadcast or not, in case something R-rated gets said. Not sure why they’d be pissed, darnold had a terrible game, admitting that he’s shook is like no duh, we can see that. Fwiw, I think he’s still very talented, just that he’s a young QB who ran into a historically great defense. Rodgers or Brees might look like poo against the Pats, the way theyre playing.

Yup, I loved trick or treating as a kid, always came home with a sack full of candy, although it did hell to my dental health afterwards. Im not too into the other aspects of the day of the dead, I don’t like horror movies and a lot of scary stuff, my imagination tends to run away from me, especially when im high, I start believing that isht is real.

Cam might be interesting, he won league MVP 4 years ago, he’d be the best QB the bears ever had. Minshew is under contract but might be available for trade if the jags stick with folk. Bridgewater I think also has another year on his deal, and the saints might want to keep him, knowing brees is 40 and could get injured again, teddy can keep them winning. I’ve heard andy Dalton could be possible for the bears, he’s a better passer than trubisky but I wouldn’t consider him that great of an option.
Honestly mitch is never going to be the guy the bears thought he would be because he’s never going to be better than mahomes or Watson. But he can be better than he is now if he starts running again and nagy commits to the run more. 54 passes and 7 runs? Ridiculous. And mitch scrambling can pick up crucial first downs, extend drives, and opens up passing opportunities downfield. Last year, he had 24tds, 12 ints, 400yds rushing and 3 rush tds. With a good D and run game, that’s more than good enough to win games. Maybe not win a superbowl, but can make the playoffs at least.

Canna-caramels sounds like a great Halloween treat for the adults! How strong are they going to be, one will get you nice and mellow, 2-3 will send you into outer space?
