Ben signed a 34M/yr, 2yr deal last offseason, I think if they cut him this offseason they’ll take a 22M cap hit, about the same cap hit they took when they traded Antonio brown to the raiders. So if he continues stinking up the joint these last few games, maybe he and the team need to seriously consider their respective futures.

Cardinal’s offense, before last week, wasn’t doing well since kyler murray had some sort of shoulder injury sustained against the patriots (I think) but he had 400yds and 3td’s vs the eagles so all looks right with him again. Maybe they cover easily against the niners, whom they already beat once this season.

I always thought any decent casino would have a pretty nice buffet, GJ. It’s one of the perks of going there and losing money. But I can see how it would be depressing to be there a long time too. I do enjoy a nice sportsbook though, a huge wall full of tv’s showing games, cocktail waitresses serving free drinks, there are worse gambling environments imo.

KC has had some close wins lately, the D seems to be giving up more points than usual, so I can see where you think that the falcons will cover. But is julio jones playing? He’s been out with a hamstring injury the last couple games, maybe they shut him down since the season is lost anyway but maybe he suits up and guts it out, which gives them a better chance to cover. We’ll see. I think KC only needs to win one more game to lock up the #1 seed in the AFC and the first round bye, so week 17 they may sit their starters…

yes, if kc wins another game they have the top seed in the afc i think
mahommes is a great young qb and they have a lot of fire power around him, i htink they are the best team in the afc right now
i also like buffalo
im kind of in between on az, but it looks like murray is ready to step up for the playoffs
he is coming back from a shoulder injury and he had a bad throw last weekend that resulted in an int
i think the 9ers are just too beat up right now on offense to keep pace
i tihnk its beyond the time when pitt needs to look at big bens successor
they have mason rudolph as a fall back on and luckily their offense has talent all over the field; but it might take some time ot find a qb to replace rothelsburger

that sucks that the casino atmosphere sucks goJ'
like baba said, the cheap eats are usually part of the fun
the casinos out here make it a big point to serve up a decent spread, and while its not as cheap as i used to be the buffets used to be pretty good
but hey, if you have money in your pocket you can always find a good place to eat no matter where you go
you stay safe and healthy too joJ' and keep picking them winners my man!

I think youre right, KC, despite their recent stretch of close games, looks on track to repeat as champs. Best record in the league, mahomes is going to win mvp again, everyone’s healthy except for clyde Edwards-helaire (high ankle sprain, but will be back for the playoffs). I think if they meet buffalo in the afc championship that will be an epic game, but if they make it to the superbowl who from the NFC can you see beating them? Saints are good but brees is also semi-washed, Tompa Bay has their consistency issues too, Hawks have a terrible D still. I dont have any particular objection to the chiefs winning it again, theyve had a lot of playoff disappointments in their history so let them have their fun, but if these fuckers win like 4 or 5 titles in the next 10 years i'll start to get pretty tired of them.

I didn’t watch the cards-eagles game except for a little on redzone but murray did throw an INT in the philly end zone, costing them 7pts. Still, overall he and Jalen hurts had fantastic fantasy games. The two former Oklahoma QBs going up against each other, along with baker playing pretty well in Cleveland, I guess OU is the new quarterback U?

I don’t watch too much steelers football but I saw enough of mason Rudolph last year to know he isnt going to be a franchise guy. He played in 10 games last year, started 8, and finished with 175yds/game, 13tds, 9 ints and 62% completion. Those are trubisky type numbers. Im not sure what they could do at QB if ben retires though, theyre not going to have a very high draft pick even if they lose out. The college QB for BYU, zach Wilson, played his bowl game last night vs University of central florida, people are talking him up as the Mormon Mahomes because of his penchant for making plays outside the pocket, maybe he can be had for a lower draft pick. It is a shame though since they have so much offensive talent, as you’ve mentioned, but without a QB to get them the ball (and an OL to protect said QB) there’s not much they can do.
GJ mentioned something about mahomes’ arm being hurt because he throws sidearm a lot, especially on the move, but I think that’s part of his game. In 2018 his first full year as a starter the analysts always talked about his baseball background (his dad was an MLB player) and so that’s where he learned to throw from different arm angles depending on the situation; sidearm if he wanted to ‘wrap’ a throw around a defender, standard three quarters angle if he had a clean pocket, etc. I think matt Stafford does the same thing, varies his arm angle when he deems it necessary, and his arm is fine. Big ben doesnt throw from funny angles yet he needed elbow surgery last year, but he's also quite a bit older (6 yrs older than stafford, 13 yrs older than mahomes).

kc is hot hot hot right now
they have a top tier coach, a young gun slinger @ qb and speed all over the field
the defense and special teams might be their weak spots, but as we are seeing witht he rams the defense can only keep you so close
i think mahommie has the mojo working again this year again
if you had 60secponds and needed a score who would you want to see under center
at this point in his career, i tihnk its kind of premature talking about mahommes and injury
yes, he does throw from all kinds of weird angles and often dosent have his feet set, but hes making the throws
im sure in time he might start to ahve all sorts of arm problems but i dont expect that to start taking its toll on him for at least a few years unless he incurs some type of injury from contact
the bill are sort of like the chiefs light, maybe not so good coaching, the qb is talented but not like mahommes
/j.allen has great size and instincts and he is learning to throw a nice ball in addition to moving
defense might be a touch better on any given day but i still think they have a lot to prove
/still think they are second best in the afc
who could beat the chiefs in the superbowl?
i think the hawks/ kc would be a shoot out that would be all time, saints could be a good game, maybe not as high scoring but a lot of fun towatch
if goff can get right i tihnk the rams defense could keep the chiefs honest and it would be another great game
/remember the mast time the chiefs and rams played on that monday night

hope all you guys are having a great night and ready for a great christmas eve!
after the ass whooping we took throughout 2020 its time to slow things down and enjoy
merry christmas friends!

That’s the thing with KC, their defense isnt the greatest but the offense more than makes up for it. Even last playoff run, they were down double digits in every game yet came back to win them all, also by double digits. Heck, the Texans were up 24-0 on them in the playoffs and they lost by 20 some pts, lol. And chris jones might be the 2nd best Def tackle in the league after aaron Donald, and tyrann Mathieu is still capable of big plays in the secondary, so even if their D isn’t elite they’ve got some game changers.
Usually mahomes tries the funky arm angles on shorter throws, when he’s got to sling it 40+ yards he’ll throw it normal three quarters angle, after taking a 12 step drop lol. Im not sure why Big ben's arm is shot, most of his career injuries have been to his legs, but he did swear off porn so maybe he was jacking it so much he ruined his elbow? Is that a thing? Lol.
Chiefs already beat the saints last week so im not sure I want to see a rematch. Brees was coming back from broken ribs though, and even though he threw 3 td’s his completion percentage was less than 50%, so he’s shaking off some rust. Also they put Michael Thomas on 3 week IR with an ankle sprain so they’ll be better when he comes back for the playoffs. We’ll see how it shakes out, saints are probably the best team in the nfc but it’s close, like you said there’s some NFC west teams that could beat them.

Josh allen started the season off hot, sputtered a bit mid season, and is now hot again (had 2 passing td’s and 2 rushing td’s last week). I remember when he was drafted, I fully expected him to bust out because he wasn’t that accurate in college vs subpar competition, and his first 2 years in the league he wasn’t much of a passer, so to see him doing what he’s doing now is like unheard of. Lots of athletic QBs with iffy passing skills couldn’t make it in this league (jake locker, RG3, bortles, terrelle pryor, etc) but in his 3rd year he’s been a revelation. But im also starting to wonder if he can keep this up or is this an outlier season. Like Wentz in 2017, that was his absolute best and he’s been at best above average and at worst pretty terrible in his other seasons…

We got some Christmas afternoon football, Vikings at saints at 330pm central time, so that’s something. Maybe brees will look better. Then 3 Saturday games, bucs at lions at 12cst, niners at cards at 330cst and Fins at raiders at 715cst. So every one of these games features a playoff team, should make for good viewing. Merry xmas ya’ll!

merry christams eve baba!
i hope you have a great day ahead of you and enjoy every minute of your holiday
/do you guys exchange gifts, what are you hoping is under the tree?
a little bummed that we get no football tonight, but excited about we get extra football for the rest of the week
im folowing the 9ersgame for sure and would like to watch the dolphins too, but we will see what happens
i am going to watch the bills as an up and coming afc team; they have all the major pieces in place and just need to develop what they have
j.allen is nothing but a tight end under center*, but hes learning to use his arm more and looks like he has some potential as a solid qb
/i think what separates him from most of the guys you mentioned is his size
smoking kush for breakfast and getting an early start to the day
i hope everyone has a very merry christmas!

Kush is the breakfast of champions, at least in California.
And only in Cali could you find a container of purple weed on the ground, and you said it looked good and you smoked it? Sheeeeiiiiit, that’s better than finding a $20 bill on the ground, even if it wasn’t the same strain that your buddy grew.

I haven’t done the gift exchange thing in a few years Pop. Whatever I need or want to buy, I just buy, but I tend to keep things pretty simple. I don’t buy a lot of fancy clothes or spend a lot on cars or video games etc, so long as I have a working phone and computer im good most nights. I dont even spend a lot on food, preferring fast food or cooking at home most of the time also.

Such a disappointing year for the niners, a 5 win (so far) season after having won 13 games and made the superbowl last year. Just gutted by injuries, their 2 best players (garappolo and kittle) out most of the season. If they keep losing they’ll get another top 10 draft pick, garappolo’s contract is up, maybe they’ll pick their QB of the future next draft. Jimmy G wins them games when he’s healthy but he’s had like one healthy year in the 3.5 years he’s been with them.

That’s funny you keep saying josh allen is a QB in a Tight end’s body, imo I think he might have made a good Defensive end if he wasn’t a QB. Dude is 6’5 and 240lbs, he could easily put on another 10-20lbs of muscle if he had to, with his athleticism I could see him being a poor man’s jj watt, who interestingly enough was actually a not very good TE in college before switching to defense and becoming a 1st rd draft pick. merry christmas baba! and all the rest of you goons
i hope each and every one of you has the best day
appreciate all the good things we have my friends!

wasnt it tj watt who played te and then converted to defense?
i feel bad for teh 9ers too
it looked like they had their qb of the future locked up when they signed jimmyG, but after so many seasons of being injured i think its time they moved on if they want to consistently compete in the nfc.w
i hear you about not doign the gift exchange
when you grow up you can afford to buy your own shit
but its nice to find stuff under the tree
im with you on living frugally and it sounds like we both spend our money on the same things
good food dosent have to be expensive and i know you often prepare your owns meals which saves a lot of money

have a great christmas and enjoy the time off
lets eat, drink and watch football!

Merry Christmas you degenerates!

I didn’t know tj watt also started his college career as a tight end. I do know JJ went to central Michigan as a TE, didn’t play much then left to walk on at Wisconsin and play defense. I think his first year at Wisco he didn’t have a scholarship so he delivered pizzas to pay for school. Makes me wonder if derek watt, who’s a fullback, should have switched to defense too. Both JJ and TJ are elite defenders, nobody plays or pays fullbacks much anymore, if he was a linebacker instead maybe he could be making 15M/yr instead of 1-2M/yr. But at least his bros have money, tj soon will be the highest paid defender in the league, beating joey bosa’s deal.

If I had kids I’d definitely be doing the presents under the tree Pop, but since I have dogs there’s no need for that. Ah well.

morning baba! hope you are having a great holiday weekend and saved room for some more games
the cardnials shit the bed yesterday and may have removed themselves from the playoff picture
this opens the door for the bears, but like we talked about before, this is kind of a good and bad thing
raiders had the dolphins on the ropes but it looks like fitzmagic was able to pull a huge win out of his hat
/with some help from a missed pat and some shitty clock management
rams need a win today against seattle to put themselves in the playoffs and i cant wait for the game to begin

hope everyone had a great christmas and is ready for a new year!

Yup, bears are killing the Jags now so they’ll be even with the cardinals at 8-7 but I guess the bears have the last wild card spot because they have a better win percentage vs common opponents. Still, it comes down to the last game, cards vs rams and bears vs packers. Even though mitch and the O are playing better I have a hard time thinking they’ll beat the pack, but if the cards also lose to the rams then maybe it doesn’t matter.
Raiders could have scored a TD on their last play on offense, I think miami’s D would have allowed them to, but gruden decided to bleed the clock and kick a go ahead FG. Fins had like 25 secs left but Fitzmagic completed a miracle pass while getting face-masked, it was like a 50yd play with the penalty and they soon kicked a game winning 40yd FG. Raiders were out of the playoffs anyway but that still must have been a gut punch; they need to fix that defense if they want to keep getting better, firing their Def coordinator a few weeks ago doesn’t seem to have helped much. looks like my rams choked up big time! and now its goign to be an interesting end to the season
we will see who makes it to the playoffs, but the way goff played today im not going to get my hopes up
/even if they make it they could be one and done
the defense did all it could but i just wish we could get more production from under center
that was an amazing pass and you cant deny the beard, he has this way of coming into games and making things happen
why that dosent translate into 16 games is beyond me, but you just enjoy the magic when it happens
green bay game is on and boy it looks cold!

bundle up guys, things are going to get exciting from here!

Yeah, rams offense got shut down, goff threw a bad int near the seattle end zone and then later hurt his thumb on a defender’s helmet. He might have a broken thumb so he might not play next week vs the cards. Who’s their backup QB? Bortles?
Regardless of if the rams win or not next week, I still want the bears to beat the packers because, yknow, fuck the packers. Also, it would keep the packers from claiming the #1 seed in the NFC, Hawks and Saints still have a shot at it if green bay loses.

You guys mentioned that Tua hasn’t been that impressive since taking over for Fitzmagic, I thought he had to shake off some rust before finding a groove but more and more I see that he just hasn’t been the playmaker he was in college. I still have hope next year he’ll break out, he’s a rookie and only 1 year removed from a career threatening injury. Even josh allen didn’t break out till his 3rd year in the league…

the miami qb sutuation is very interesting
actually i tihnk tua is doing well and his development is on course
he seems to be finding his place in the offense and the team is responding to him
but they took him out late in the game and i dont thnk he was hurt?
it was fitzmagic time and he came through
/of course with some help, but thats part of the magic
i saw that pass he made and it was all time
/being dragged to the ground by the facemask, he still unloads a rocket and hits his man
i see miami as a team on the rise and would like to see them make the playoffs
yeah goff had to pop his thumb back into place late in the game and it looked like it was kind of messed up
the rams back up is john wolford, i think he has a total of zero nfl snaps
i can see this season circling the bowl and i just hope they dont get embarrassed again
got any room on that bears bandwagon for one more
/ill bring weed and snacks

Tua’s had some decent games, against KC he had 300yds passing and 3 tds (1 rushing), against the bengals and cards he put up decent stats also, but he got pulled against the raiders because on 22 passes he had less than 100yds. I think he set the record for yards per pass attempt in college, like 10+yds per attempt, but so far this season those long completions are missing from his game. Fitzmagic is a free agent this offseason, he was cheap on a 2yr/11M contract so maybe the Fins will want to resign him again, but I think he wants to start again so maybe he’ll go somewhere else.

So the rams will make the playoffs if they beat the cards next week OR the bears lose. Bears will make the playoffs if the rams beat the cards OR they beat the packers. So maybe hold off on your bears fandom for now Pop, but I get what youre saying, neither team is likely to make a deep playoff run. What I don’t get is that if the bears win and the rams lose, both teams (and the cards) will finish 9-7, but only the bears and cards make the playoffs? Didn’t the rams beat the bears head to head during the season?

oh man, we are getting down to crunch time and the whole season rests on the last game of the season for a lot of us

good to see you mrBungle
your browns have beena pretty solid team and it looks like baker is taking the next step in his development
does he have what it takes to put the browns in the playoffs?
we will see!

both the rams and the bears help themselves with a win
rams can help the bears with a win too so lets both cheer them on this week
we will see if the rams can win without goff; the run game can still move the ball and the defense is top notch
hopefully the cards will get off to a slow start and the rams can put up some points early so a.donald and co can take the game over
(i will keep my bears fandom in check for now and might actually end up rooting against them this weekend)

so what do you have planned for new years baba?
hope you had a great 2020 in spite of all the crazy stuff going on in the world and lets look ahead to a better new year

Jets have won 2 in a row vs 2 probable playoff teams, so theyre not the joke they were just a few weeks ago. They have a legit Def line (quinnen Williams is a stud) and Darnold has avoided turnovers, even the offense is putting up some points now that gase is no longer calling plays.
Also Browns were without their top 4 wide receivers because of covid close contact tracing, so they started a bunch of practice squad guys at WR. Not ideal. Baker having 3 fumbles, losing 2 including one at the end of the game, was a killer but at least he took responsibility for it, he seemed really mad after the game at his performance so you like to see that, even though he’s never lacked for competitiveness.

Goff underwent thumb surgery so he’s out for week 17, maybe even for the first playoff game the week after assuming they make the playoffs. That wolford guy doesn’t sound promising but at least he’s more mobile than goff, he put up some decent rushing stats in college (had 700yds and 10 tds rushing his senior year) so at least he’ll bring that dimension to the team. It would be interesting to see what boy genius mcvay could do with an actual mobile QB. I think they’re also bringing back bortles as the backup again since goff cant play.

I have no particular plans for NYE except to drink as much vodka as the woman will let me get away with, lol.

i cant say im excited about seeing wolford play, but at this point the rams need a change
maybe his mobility will come in handy and he will have some great hands on both sides of the field
/plus @ te and out of the backfield
i think maybfield is turning the corner and we will see how he plays out the rest of teh season
i tihnk the browns are another team on the bubble, wo might also controll their destiny
/if they win this week they are in the playoffs
in some ways the jets winning the last two is the worst thing they could have done, actually it was the first win
i dont tihnk they will lose the #2 spot but at one point they looked like a lock for the first pick

getting an early start on the enw years fun and hope everyone is ready for the new year!

Rams also have cam akers and Darrell Henderson out with ankle sprains this week, so theyre down to just malcolm brown at RB for now.
Wolford might surprise some people on Sunday, he’ll have a full week of practice with the starters this week at least, and being able to move and throw I could see mcvay making good use of that ability. Wouldn’t that be funny if it ended up a wentz/hurts situation, where the backup is able to move the offense better than the highly paid starter?
Both bears/packers and rams/cardinals kick off at 325pm CST on Sunday, so neither team will know for certain whether they need to win or not before playing. Im sure players and fans of both teams will be keeping an eye on the scoreboard though, obviously it’ll be a tough game for both teams (bears have to face the nfc leading packers, and the rams are without their top QB and top 2 RBs) so it wont be shocking if we both lose. In that case is it the cards and bears in the playoffs? Im so confused lol…

The jags fans were so jazzed about getting trevor Lawrence I think you could actually hear them cheer during the game with every bears TD, lol. Jets are locked into the #2 overall pick, they could get justin fields from ohio state or maybe trade the pick or trade darnold. It sucks they missed out on Lawrence but they still have some options. I think back in 2007 they won their last game of the season, finishing with the #6 pick instead of #3, they could have had matt ryan at #3 (who went to the falcons instead) and after that they went to two AFC championship games with rex ryan as coach in 2010 and 2011, maybe with ryan at QB instead of buttfumble mark sanchez they could have won a superbowl. Instead they picked Vernon Gholston at #6 who never got one measly sack in 2 years with them, lol. Hopefully, for the sake of jets fans, getting the #2 pick doesn’t haunt them nearly as much, even though everyone says trevor Lawrence is the next elway/luck/generational QB. Also, if you’re a ‘generational’ talent at QB doesn’t that mean one comes along every 20 years or so? Luck was just 8 years ago (2012) so not nearly a generation has passed yet, but im nitpicking here.

Whoever gets the last 2 playoff spots in the NFC will have to face the packers/saints/hawks in the first round, only one of those 3 will get a bye. Hawks defense was stinky poo poo early this year but once jamal adams came back healthy they’ve been very solid, plus they’ve gone back to a conservative run first offense too to limit turnovers and that helps their D as well. Also trading for carlos dunlap from the bengals helped their pass rush.
