I forgot to mention, the room is expandable a bit and there is roughly $8-10k in the budget, preferebly looking to go ebb n flo or possibly a simple bucket setup to get things started
600 watters are more effective per watt, so you get more light for your electricity bill and you get a more even light coverage. You didn't mention if you are air cooling your lights, but if you are, your looking at more cooltubes/reflectors if you go 600W. I'd go 600W for more light/watt... more light is more bud...
Then again...
If you plan with the idea that a 1k covers 4x4 and a 600 3x3, assuming your gonna cover you'r space wall to wall, 1k*6 (2x3) would get a more even layout in your room compare 600*9(3x3), but then again, you would get great coverage with 600*12(3x4) but you would be running 7,2kW of lights...
12*600w(90.000lum per light) would get you 1080.000 lumins
6*1k(130.000lum per light) would get you 780.000 lumins
Samba you bring up a few good points, the 7200w doesnt sound bad, my buddy has 2 window shakers on the way i know they are up there in btu's so cooling the room wont be an issue. they will be in air cooled reflectors the idea of cooltubes hasnt been thrown out there yet. He might have access to some used equipment mainly 1k watters so we will see what is put to use. the electric is no problem it will be paid and high usage in the area is common...
I went with 1000's cause my tables are 4 feet wide and I could get better light penetration. If you are doing tables, you may want to check my sig.
BTW, when getting hoods, check out Picos thread on hood tests. I feel my hoods suck. They are smaller and I feel like they dont spread the light out. When the budget allows, I will look for new hoods.
That 8-1k budget will go pretty fast. Fans, lights, pumps, electrical panel, wires, outlets, etc. Get a Home Depot credit card, you'll need it. All the little stuff adds up. Nutes, media, pots, oh my god the list goes on.
My wife wants to kill me when I say i need to go the hydro store. She'll be a little happier in a couple months though.
Dont forget you will need a space for moms, and vegging.
well i think the setup is gonna be done with blaze's dwc buckets, prolly 24 or how many more fit in there. the finishings of the room should be gettin done this weekend maybe we'll start a thread to track the progress
being that he's gotten ahold of some equipment for about half price of going rate on-line hes thinking on adding a bit more juice to the room....
what do you guys think will be to much for the room? 10x16..lighting wise ofcourse
when your working with window shakers yeah i think so... keeping the room climate controlled will be the issue unless spending prolly another 2500 on a complete ac system..i read on here about some people using air-con but seem to find nothing on them price wise or anything
