CRINKLE

CRINKLE

Hello Peat;

This is what I know so far..the crinkle[ these are not from MY seeds are they?] seems to come from my use of Fox Farm Ocean Forest , the formula of which has seemed to change in the last year.

I used to be able to use FFOF with clones that had grown into their 16oz cups, but not before that. They would do fine with no problems, nutes, PH or othewise..

I could use FFOF through my transplants to 1 gallon up to 3 gallon or 5, and then flower them with just the nutes I wanted to use.

The only modification I mad was more perlite and thats it.

About 9 months ago I started to get this 'crinkle' in the leaves and leaf drop and nothing I did helped.

PH seemed normal.

My water here in the tap did change a lot once we got a new water company.

Alot more water stone.

LOTS AND LOTS.

When I showed some here at the site what was happening, including CAREFREE1 and MYNAMESTITCH, CF1 said to try DOLOMITE LIME in solution and in powder in soil .

CF1 seemed to see the closest to my problem, and I tried what he said , and it helped..I have been unable to do this to the extent I would like to with so much else going on, but I think if I did it would fix it.

So maybe you should try that?

about 1 tablespoon I think per gallon of soil.

also I have swithced to BLACK GOLD in the meantime as its not having the same prob,[as much] and is not as prone to getting a crust on top.

Thanks for the help, SW!

I've had my best luck with watering her more often than usual / not lettieng her get too dry.
Also bumping up her nute concentration a bit and transplanting sooner and finishing in larger pots...

Basically just trying to outgrow the burn...

But, if she's just weak, then that trait shouldn't be passed on.:frown:

I am not ready to make that call. I'm still blaming my brown thumb! :spank:

What if she's just "finiky"?

----------------------------------------------------------
For comparison's sake, no burning on 3 wk old SDOG f2s...
Only treated slightly different...maybe even a bit more harshly...

WOW! :yoinks:
She's purdy!
A very nice combo of two very fine pedigrees! :joint:

Wow wow. What is that purpley strain? LSD?

Greetings Pirate..

The purple is mostly Sweet Tooth 1.1 or some Afghan influenced hybrids.

The LSD has not shown color but does not matter as its the highest trichome density I have seen in some time.

It is also a classice Sativa high and potency in about half the time C .Sativa usually takes.

just an amazing plant..dripping with resin and sparkles with crystal , and SMELLS just ridiculous but also backs that up high high potency and a happy up and get things done high.

SW

Hey SW,

This is BOG's SBbx3. I got the seeds from Gypsy in Jan 06.

I talked with CF1 about this a couple of weeks back.
He told me about the lime-water solution.

Thing is, I have powdered lime already in my soil.
(2 tbsp lime powder per gallon of soil mix)

LC Mix #2 from BurnOne's "Organics for Beginners" thread.
http://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=53792
(I use a heavier version of his #5 fertilizer recipe with fish ferts...still tweaking...)

CF1 told me that was enough lime and I should be fine.
He also said that if I used the lime-water that I might then have too much lime, overall.

But, I may have to experiment anyway.
It's good that you have had some success with it.
Maybe she's just a cal &/or mag hog?

We talked about how the burn/crinkle seems to show up more as the soil dries.
He suggested I not let them get as dry.

That's my thinking, too...so far...
(I'm also thinking larger pots / more soil / more buffer.)

He also suggested a moisture meter, but those things seem to be seasonal around these parts.

BTW, They don't like going from the flos to the 430W. Even at 3' away, the 430W still burns them.
They've been in qt pots under the flos since 10/02.
I'm moving more slowly with a couple of "yet burned" ones...

The good news is that the ones in flower are doing very nice with only very minimal burning.
...so far...

I'm hoping it's just a matter of her being a bit finiky. And that a simple soil tweak might make her happy.

I really appreciate your help, SW. :respect:
Please don't let me take up too much of your time.
I'll keep picking away at her.:joint:

Yes, it is/was a collaboration that involved BOG and is responsible for the sublime Black Indica, of which we are not allowed to speak here. :badday:
Seriously... threads go *poof*. It's one of my top 5 favorite strains of all time, too...
