It was on the UK news late last year, but as you asked for a link, I looked, and it was all NWO wingnut websites, silver merchants and loony bloggers. I did a bit of digging, and it isn't quite as I said. No cash over 1000 euros, and for transactions above 50 euros, merchants can not say cash only, if a person wants to use a card, they can. So not quite there yet. It is to prevent VAT fraud.
This is not how it was reported in the news over here late last year.
Thanks for clearing that up, I did a quick google search before I asked for the link and found similar results as your mentioned. However I am going to look more into this......let me see if I got this strait:

Agreed, (maybe i was a few years off on the age thing), but a huge problem is now this generation's children and grand children are coming into power that have been instilled with the same morals and world views of their predecessors. Politics runs in the family and these people are hard to get rid of. For example, America's top families have had a presence in politics for multiple generations (bush's, rockefellers).
Heck even in my country i nearly shat myself the other week when i saw this drooling moron i went to school with is now MINISTER of energy for our whole f****** country!! He comes from a very wealthy family of capitalist a**holes, i knew this guy fairly well let's just say he was really really not smart at school (im talking like the bottom stream of 5 where the stupid congregate) now he's running a massive key government ministry making horrendous capitalist pig decisions just like his previous generations were. When i see his stuttering interviews on tv it makes me shudder.

i've been dealing with this corrupt system for a long time and it sucks. and you are correct without money we don't matter to them.
but times are changing, albeit slow as you mentioned. if we continue to unite, educate and spread truth instead of the bullshit our govts try to feed us we can make a difference. the internet helps us in this communication. the webz must be a scary thing for govt.

Far from being the generation that ruined the world, I was at the tail end of the hippie generation. My life has never been built around Capitalism and consumption (apart from having to survive in that environment). The generation of my children, however, are mindless consumers who think success is related to what you own.
Where you see conspiracy, I just see Capitalism going through it's paces. No conspiracy just people behaving in their own selfish interests. We are all controlled in the sense that we have little choice these days but to take part in the society we live in.
People pursuing their own interests and creating and adding value to raw resources allows everybody to live a better life by not forcing a bare subsistence way of life.

I have no interest in computers other than as a net user, but I'm glad someone else did.
What a millionaire couldn't dream of owning 30 years ago a grade school kid takes for granted today.
Kinda nice that a few intrepid souls spent time and money to produce the quality genetic seeds we can buy at a reasonable cost that manage to get lower as more entrepreneurs enter the market place.
Nothing at all wrong with capitalism as it provides the most goods with the least waste if done properly and without undue interference by Govt. granting monopolies and restricting entry by all comers.
Just because laws against fraud and collusion are ignored by authorities designated to curb crime and are subverted by those same criminals is not a flaw of capitalism. It's a flaw of enforcement.
Free and fair trade makes life better for everyone.
Go look at a place where is doesn't happen. You won't like it at all.
