Everyone's natural flora will be different. Just because your bacteria are harmless doesn't mean gettogro's aren't causing ill effects. An undercurrent system doesn't help much with disease defense either. Better to keep things clean. Organic peat would be completely different.

I don't think you're not supposed to use metal in hydro, especially at pH levels around 5.5-6.0 way too much copper can leach into your water. Heard you can also kill a tree by driving copper nails into it, if you only drive a few into a big tree though it can actually help it (as plants use copper). That might be a myth though.

Yeah copper can work great to suppress bad stuff from growing, that's why they've also used it on ships for hundreds of years. In fact ole ironsides, the Constitution is clad in copper, not iron.

This is interesting: How to Make Your Own Copper Soap Fungicide

Hi stone, thanks for the info.
Indeed copper with low ph will leak copper salt, but is all about concentration, 1 or 2 inches of electrical wire cooper in 5 gal water solution with ph average 5.5 to 6.0 has no negative visible impact. I have tested on water with invertabrates, like snails and shrimps (both highly sensitive to cooper in water), at ph 5,5 to 6,0 for months with (even more than 1 year) no negative reactions or deaths, and the water changes are far from what we do in DWC). also I have grown different strains on hydro with 1 inch of copper wire with no problems, and at in the end of flowering, copper wire shows no visible sign of corrosion. In general, the pH that we'll use for hydroponics isn't much too worry about as far as the copper is concerned IMO, unless we use a copper container or bucket. But in small amounts, has proven to me that is good.
Also with flushing, the concentrations goes down every time.

PS: With plumbing is different, since copper plumbing has a protective film, and that is very toxic when it get leak to water (on PH lower than 5 usually over the time)

Ok, I have used the dehuey/ac water in a small 6 plant system. Plants were only fed using the recycled water. Plants grew fine with no ill effects. Now that being said, I also use lava rock as a filter and EWC tea to treat the hydroponic water, Im sure the good bacteria in the ewc tea and the lava rock clean up the water just fine for hydroponic use. If you use steril hydroponics Im sure the water would work fine as well.

I was fogging the plants with the untreated bacteria filled water. Im sure if it was treated before I fogged them they would be fine too. I didnt know what the deal was till I had the water tested. Im no water chemist, but the algae growing in the fogger feed lines as soon as I changed the water supply tells me that the dehuey water was harmfull to plants not allowing the algae to grow. Algae being a plant.

Hey, cap cant wait to see what your up to next. I got a new system in the works as well :)

Good catch on the typo, I guess I was just thinking anaerobic because it has no airstone.. Hmm, that is a shit ton of bacteria, except-able levels is at 500 cfu/ml. I was fogging the plants with 1.98 million cfu/ml. I even drank a glass to see if it tasted funny, Lucky I didnt get sick. The reason I am so adamant about recycling the water is because I have to truck in the water from my house as there is no water at this spot.
For now that wast water is going down the drain where it should be...

VERY Expensive lesson learned

Beans are by OG Raskal "white fire OG" google

There is a ceramic water filter by doultan:

http://www.filtersfast.com/Doulton-Super-Sterasyl-Ceramic-filter.asp

that I bet you could use to recycle your water. Pass it through that and then a UV and I bet it would be 100% sterilized. Just get a tank to reclaim instead of dumping it straight back in to your res.

You could also add your beneficials to this tank prior to adding back in tot he system to make sure it is properly charged with the good guys.

goals?

goals?

Hey, thought I'd share a new setup im working on. Should have it complete and running in a week or so. Goal is to grow 3lb + WiFi OG plants. 8 1k lights, 10 600w lights, maybe more, 5 ton rheem A/C, 2 ton minispit, sealed, co2, Diy UC hydro..

just wanted an update on your goal of 3lb. did you reach that? or what were your results? i could of missed it, but i didn't think so.

Used to follow your work at that other spot Cap mentioned, just noticed you here. Always a good show at your place, I must say.

Mind if I ask what were the plant symptoms from fogging with the bad water?

seems pretty straightforward, he's aiming to grow 3lb's of product per plant, using 8 1k's and 10 6oow's

what seems to be the problem here?

No record last harvest, but a successful one none the less. got 16 and change.. little over 2.7 per..
Going to try some foilar feeding this next round to see if it helps, I think I am also not being patient enough, I need to gradually introduce more light to the plants. I have been trying to blast them right in the first few days of flower. Next time going to add light for the first 2 weeks..
