Hey Solar, interesting talk of the WOS SMCG, I had a similar experience, however I would describe my female more like incense-y mango. I used the male in the line against a SMCG phenotype of the Zapotec from norstar, as well as first lady from I deli, and purple mex from CBG. Nothing has been popped yet, but I'm stoked about it. I'm pretty sure the WOS isn't pure, but it's still pretty decent, how many weeks did your girl go?

I'm fairly sure that at some point Indica was bred into it and who knows when. The wider leaves, compact structure and flower formation don't lie. On the other hand, I was quite happy with the CG pheno I got. Since they are fem seeds, I crossed mine with the Original Haze. I started mine in late July and they finished January or February in the greenhouse. I didn't track flower time, but I would guess about 16-18 weeks.
Good luck, I hope they pop. It will be a fun grow for sure.
Peace, God bless

great read.
and great work, SolarLogos.

Thanks for taking the time to share, in detail, your efforts.

That SMCG looks like a winner......

Have any finished pics of the oldtimers haze you ran?
(I may have missed it.....took a couple of days for me to get through your thread....)

Greeting friend, thanks for stopping by, I appreciate your comments.

The OTH were both winners imho, a punto rojo pheno and a purple haze. I started them in April and the PH finished the 1st week of January and the PR pheno went until the end of January.
Here is the PR pheno

What a beautiful smoke report SolarLogos :dance013: Wish i could be there with you to enjoy it together :D Really sounds like my cup of tea for sativa smoke.
The meaty incensey comes from the very desirable A5 Haze terpene profile, but the well focused and bright sativa effect seems to lean more towards VB and Oldtimer's Haze.

What's the next breeding step you have in mind for this amazing sativa polyhybrid ? :) Btw, amazing Purple Haze Oldtimer's Haze pics!

I have been eating cobs and edibles for quite a while and hadn't smoked in a few weeks. Lungs feel great again.
At 7:00 this morning I decided to give edibles a break and smoked a joint of the Ka5/VBxOTH, the short 14-week pheno. It only has a 10 week cure but has evolved to the point that I can say, I wish every day was like this stuff, this should be the norm.
The taste is grilled meat incense. It is very similar in taste to Ace's HPHxKC, but more towards meat and not liver/pate. She is all consciousness, excellent for contemplation of abstract thinking or symbolic thought. Very enlightening. Everything in its proper place, it’s a proper perspective. A bit strong, but a great in control feeling; it's a well-grounded high, without experiencing an altered dimensional state of consciousness, or feeling detached from the physical realm. There is no big energy, but no tired feeling either, just normal energy levels. Therefore, she hasn't exhibited any anxiety or paranoia. Rather, she is the most peaceful experience on cannabis I’ve had without it being overly mellow or narcotic. Moderately dreamy, and visually everything is very bright, shiny, moderate spacial distortion, time distortion, everything looks more beautiful than ever. At one point, after about 2 hours, I was laughing hysterically, with tears running down my face at things that were clever, but really not so funny in retrospect. At 10:00 I was just leveling off of the peak and smoked again. It's 2:00pm and it's still going great. Long legs and potent, yet so kind. I haven't tried to see if there is a ceiling on this, but I doubt it. It doesn't take long to get you to the point you don't feel you need more, 3-4 hits is enough.

Thank you Dubi, I was thinking the same thing as I was smoking those joints, how are you and I going to be able to share this amazing herb together? I don't know what the future for Spannabis is, but I'll be at one in the near future.
I've been sampling the 3 Ka5/VBxOTH, long flowering 22 week phenos. I have 3 of them and my buddy grew 5 of the long flowering phenos also. They are a bit more of an "up" energetic high. Compared to the 14 week NL pheno, it makes me feel more serious, happy but not laughing for no reason.
I crossed the NL pheno with Lieu Hanh (Nev Haze x VB). Next step is to find another compact NL pheno again, with a little more haze energy while maintaining the funny, side-splitting laughter inducing effects. I have the VB repro going into flower next week. I also have the purple Vietnamese Black x Lieu Hanh-purple also going into flower next week. Once they are finished, I will continue the work on this amazing hybrid.
Here are 3 of the 22 week phenos of the Ka5/VBxOTH I've been sampling

After I finish the VB repro and the VBxLH, I will start going through the Ka5/VB/OTHxLH, probably around January next year. I will be selecting for potency on those and selecting males and females to bulk up on seeds.
Peace, God bless

Looking good in here Solar! Funny you mention Spannabis... I’m also hoping to make my way there in a couple years or three at most.
I’m sending off my signed contract tomorrow and will be employed at Yukon’s first Cannafarm ostensibly for... well.. ever.
Really looks like a long term career move so long as we stay operational... tbh I can’t believe how blessed I am. Truly a dream come true. God knows I’ve been through plenty of nightmares last number of years. It’s refreshing to get a good break!
I’ve already started telling the boys in Van (home office) about Spannabis... maybe they’ll send me! If not they pay well enough I ought to be able to afford it in two years or so.
If it’s going to happen I’ll be sure to drop you a PM and see what’s up.

I’m sooper Jelly about that Lieu Hanh your working on.. sounds frickin stellar and probably has a lot of directions you could take it with regards to breeding. I just cut a bunch of OaxPan seeded by Rasputin (ZamxGuatemala z13bx male) and the minty peach and cedar incense on one of em is screaming at me about how good it’s going to go with the leather/apricot musk of Ras...
OaxPan x ZamGuat... I ought to mix it with a good ZamPan and see what kind of twists it puts on things.
Maybe I’ll do Honduras x Ras and try that with it too. OaxPan Ras x HonRas... hmm.

Hey thanks again for your advice on C.S too.. it totally worked. I have some Auto Zam repro seeds as well as Forum Stomper x AutoZam to play with next year. Time to make some fem indoor seeds this winter!
Best wishes and stay safe my friend! Always good to see more of your garden and various projects.

Hiya Solar,

As the others have commented, your smoke reports are stellar! making that Ka5/VBxOTH NL pheno sound grail-like. That Punto rojo pheno of OTH looks a beast. yield looked pretty good as well but for you it seems all about the smoke. :D

how do you choose when to harvest your haze and NLD/haze crosses? These look to have taken on some amber but hard to tell from the pic really. Do you evaluate trichs, swelling of calyxes, terps, other? I used to tend towards milky with some amber, but am starting to pay closer attention to development of the calyxes.

Regardless, fantastic work you are doin. You make it look easy :shooty: though I think most realize there’s a ton of work and experience behind these exemplary plants. Best of luck as you go through your projects.

Peace,

Good to hear from you Yukon! I'm glad things are working out for you, I know you've had some rough times. Getting paid to work with cannabis has been your dream come true, congratulations I'm very happy for you. They say if you love what you do, you'll never work a day in your life. With your unbridled enthusiasm and passion, you'll go far my friend.
The Zamaldelica x Mama Thai turned out really good, but each had a couple nanners, nothing too serious and no seeds. I hadn't planned on running any more of them, but I forgot I had crossed one of them with the Lieu Hanh. That might be worth popping a few.
So far, the Khmer Gold is in week 13 of flower and all females are stable. I did cross one with Lieu Hanh, both the green and dark phenos. That might be a fun hybrid to explore.

Thanks brother, I appreciate your kind words. Yes, the PR pheno was a beast, I crossed her with OHz and would like to get to her one of these days. She reflowered like crazy and finished really late, going almost 11 months OD from seed.
With the long flowering sativa, you just have to keep an eye on them and play it by ear. Both my OTH had to be harvested in stages, not all flowers finish at the same time. Often, older calyxes are going past their prime, but the latest/newest calyxes and pistils are just swelling and withering respectively. Taking small flower samples and quick drying them to smoke helps you decide when to pick. I try to let as many trichomes turn milky while minimizing amber trichomes and that is a personal preference. Also, a lot of the amber you see in the pics are dried and yellowed after drying/curing. A lot of pure sativa don't really turn amber, but seem to stay milky a very long time and eventually turn a light gold.
Thanks again for stopping by friends,
Peace, God bless

Purple Haze Satellite

Purple Haze Satellite

Purple Haze Satellite has stopped her stretch and doesn't seem to be putting on more bud sites. I have not topped her, but I tied her top down to bush her out a little. I'm not sure how long she will flower, but I'm pretty sure she will finish in the greenhouse.

Next for her is to cross her with Honduran. I can't think of a single reason why that cross would not be outstanding. Honduran vibes would blend well with either PS or PH.
Smoking PS today, 13 days away from it's 1 year harvest

I've got a few others to update on the next post

Koh Chang/Thai Stick x Tom Hill Haze
These three are just starting to set flowers and seem to have finished their stretch. I've tied the tops over to keep their height down

Zamal MC x Tom Hill Haze
She is much smaller than the ThaiXTHH but has a much better structure to her. She hasn't started flower yet, however, the male has already dropped pollen.

Honduran. I love these plants and probably my favorite to grow and smoke. I have two beautiful girls on the left and the 3 handsome studs on the right. I have my eye on the last male, it's hard to see from the picture, but he has a much better structure and not as lanky as the other two males.

Sorry, it's been a while since I've updated on the KG, a lot going on. When covid started, I was given the go-ahead from the wife to go wild in the garden, since we wouldn't be going anywhere this year. Things changed as I should have expected and all these little short getaways, building inspectors on the property, etc., have caused a lot of interruptions in my plans. Kids are back in school (distance-learning at home) so things are back to normal now, at least no more interruptions.
I have clones of everything still in the clone room doing well. I'm taking fresh clones to reverse and will likely pollinate the clones in the winter if all goes as planned. The other clones are starting week 15 of flower. I've collected all the seeds I need from them, including from 2 hermie males in case I want to search for a stable male one day. Of her crosses, I have:
KGxLieu Hanh green: 11 seeds
KGxLieu Hanh purple: 42 seeds
KGxOHz: 19 seeds.
KG #4 has the best structure and the fullest flower and so far. Her and 3 others have the strongest smells, mostly eucalyptus with some citrus. I kept the mother of #4 OD, here she is:

Hiya Solar, if you don’t mind I’d like to continue to milk you on your experience with the PS. where would you say the cure hit its’ “sweet spot”? I’ve had some strains peak at 3mo, some at 6mo, and some after 1yr. First time with a given strain Im always reflecting “man, wish I’d have realized ‘X’ months was the perfect spot.”

Greetings my brother, it's a good question, thank you for asking.

Well for me, the PS at 3 months was a bit on edge and really had no ceiling, meaning the edginess also increases with each toke. It still doesn't have a ceiling, but if you want to get really high, it's better after the long cure as the edgy effects really turned into a more euphoria at 9 months. I had some yesterday for the first time in a while, both smoking a joint and eating 2.5 grams decarbbed. The high is really clean now, more focused and thought provoking and getting higher and higher without any edgy feeling. After smoking a joint, I had no hesitation eating a high dose, whereas I would not have wanted to do so when it was at a 3 month cure, mainly because I don't want an edgy type of high. It's very much an "up" high and not for nighttime, but it is a much more pleasant and happy feeling once time does her magic.

Thank you everyone for your kind comments. Some breeding plans had to change, the conditions here the past few weeks have been terrible. We've had temps as high as 109F/43C. Lots of wild fires in the area dropping lots of ash, looked almost like it had snowed. The smoke has scattered all the blue light so we had 3 weeks of orange and red all day, causing some of the flowering I believe. I didn't get the stretch and stacking on buds like I had hoped as a result. Hopefully that can still happen.
The SMCGxOHz does not handle heat well. Once the heat got into the mid 90's, the male and female started drooping their leaves and getting stressed. They only received morning sun as a result and stayed in the shade during the extreme heat. The only thing that helped was bringing them indoors where it is air conditioned, but doing that everyday wasn't an option. The male barely survived and I lost the female. I would bet that both sides of the cross had been bred indoors several generations and are better run indoors or in cooler climate. I started another SMCG and will pollinate her with the SMCGxOHz male. If that goes well, it will get crossed with Oaxaca Gold x OHz.
Sorry for the bad news, but the past 4 summers the high temperatures have been climbing higher and higher. I'm looking forward to the downward trend when temps return to normal during summer.

In the meanwhile, the Vietnamese Black repro is in the 3rd week of flower. The Vietnamese Black (purple pheno) x Lieu Hanh (NevHaze x Vietnamese Black-purple pheno) went into flower today, 15 plants for open pollination and selections. Good stuff and seeds coming.
Thanks again my brothers.
Peace, God bless

Purple Haze Satellite

We finally saw the last of the heat waves, which lasted most of the summer. Yesterday was the first cool day, but ashes are still falling from nearby fires. Plants haven't seen blue light for the past 5 weeks, just red smoky skies. There is some damage from the heat and smoke, but all in all they pulled through pretty well. They'll be going into the greenhouse next month and most will finish Dec-January.
