Hey jenna  good to see you!
Thanks for the tip, i am going to go look for some this evening. I have had a smoke now and feel a bit more calm. I trimmed of a few leaves that were showing signs of damage, and have checked the other plants. I cant see any signs on the other plants yet so i hope i have caught them quite early.

I am on permanent thriipe watch it seems..I think the key with safers is to reapply after a couple of weeks. I usually forget that part until I see those little things all over again. It's simple to use and fairly inexpensive if i remember right.. I just spray the plants (all of em).. and then let them dry before returning them to their grow space. I give the soil a light misting too.

Man, its a toss up on which one is gonna be a nicer smoke.... great variety!

Oh shit thrips are a pain in the ass, the worst pain I've ever had...its a pain to get rid of the eggs and so on, I had to tear down a big grow once because of those fuckers, pyrethrine only works with larvae and adult ones, with lil success anyway.

Thanks jenna, I will be on constant watch for them from now on. Its actually the first pest i have had to deal with in over 2 yrs so i ges i was due for something hehe.
I have smoked both the mods as the two in flower now are clones of the first grow. Really enjoy both phenos but they have only been jars for a few days so really need at least a more couple in there.
Hey john thats what i was worried about reading about them everyone seems to agree. The Mod thats been attacked is the the last plant in the pic's above and is about 3 or so weeks flowering.
The other problem is i am not sure where they came from. I transplanted into bio bizz all mix which i thought should be free of pests, at the price it is it should . I also transplanted my cactus the other day into a special cactus soil so i will monitor that.
I did unfortunatly end up with tones of run of when i watered the cactus, and did put some on my plants. I dont whether these things could travel like that?
I also use a seedling soil for veg but the veg room seems fine so i don't think its that. I was thinking i would cut the mod but i would have to transplant the bubblegum into the bio bizz soil too.
Well i will get something to treat them and think about cutting the mod down.

Those bastards can travel from a houseplant or anything in the same place with the grow, eggs and such can easily travel in the room from cactis runoff water, if pyrethrine wont kill them then most probably water wont, eventually, I had to move out of the room back then, thats when I started to lurk in these forums the first place, to ask help for it in OG back in 03 or something, cant remember...what i find interesting is that my friend who had a mite problem had some fresh salad in the veg area that they sell in markets, in a tiny netpot, he likes to grow them (kinda easy way to stop paying €€€ for salad, just let it be in the pot and take what you need and put the rest of the salad in the veg area in lets say passive hydro, free salad forever:D ) anyway, the greenhouse that produces the salad must use somekind of natural pestcontrol, the salad has these tiny parasitoids (wasp looking insects that inject eggs inside other insects) that killed a big population of mites in no time and dont do any harm to plants, I dont know yet what guys they are but I will have to do some research, I guess they will also kill and destroy any other insect around so they could be usable...

I got a pyrethrine based bug killer and a biodegradable one that doesn't say exactly what it contains but from the sound of it i think its like the safers as it just spray and leave and you can do it as many times as you want. Both are ok for fruits and veg. I will be flushing really well this time though.
Thanks for the help again both of you! Those insects sound interesting john, i have heard of a similar creature before i may look into it but if the two things i got don't work i will probably tear down and bomb the place with bleach and start over.
I have a beer and and some of this, not the best photo but you get the idea.

Hi Neil,

I am damn sorry to see your plants attacked like that! I wish you all the best in ridding those pesky fuckers from your grow area!

Thanks for your advice on the cameras as well. I still haven't made up me mind, but I like the A630, for features vs. price reasons!

Peace

might work for thrips too

I know some folks think it's poison - well, it is! But smokin mites is not great for the lungs either :chin: :pointlaug but the no pest strips work well. Diatomaceous earth mixed in with your soil, sprinkled around the floor and base of the plant, also helps - tears up the bugs. Neem is great, but more on the preventative side or during early infestation - once they get really rolling I think they make neem salad dressing.

Bugs - one of those things like computer backups - easy to get complacent and ignore, and then they come and visit - AGAIN!!!

Congrats Neil - you're a member of the Mod Squad neil! Tasty stuff, eh?

Hey ThaiPhoon thanks, its about time to fire the first shots in the war against these annoying creatures.
Hey Mtnjohn thanks i might give them a try i am not so sure if they are available around here anymore though.
Hey Mr GreenJeans, Diatomaceous earth sounds good I think i might pick some of that up as precaution in the hope that might stop them in the future too.
Yes I am glad i got Mod's seeds when i did, i remember him showing the plants on OG and was very impressed then. They are extremely fare priced and i ges any that come up on seedbay will go quick.
This is what i think so far, this is the pheno in the last pic.
The Mod Bx buds don't have a very strong smell but i think it may improve a bit with the cure. It smells sort of floral with a woody tones too. As you may have seen its pretty frosty and has an open bud structure.
The high hits pretty quickly after you take a toke. After you first notice it you seem to get higher and higher. It is all in the head and makes me relax and smile. Its a a little more racy than the other pheno but not uncomfortable. Listening to music doing work and thinking are all easy and enjoyable. The high seems to fade very slowly finally leaving you back where you started or there abouts. Its the sort of smoke i could smoke constantly.
I am off to battle the thrips, I just had some seeds arrive from seedbay in record time too:). Good luck with your grows!

The Lemon stinky has responded to the training well, though i think the future i might trim her back to four main shoots as she is taking up a fair bit of space at the moment :)

Heres a couple of pic's of one of the Mod Bx clones. These have at least a couple weeks probably slightly more head start on the lemon stinky and even more on the hashberry.

Hey guys
Well i have been enjoying smoking the mod bx and dreamgoddess.
Thanks walkabout yes the smell is good, one of the mods is smelling very sweet whilst the hashberry has :chin: well a hashy deep almost coffee smell and the lemon stinky smells sort of lemon and sort of like sour socks. I expect the last to get a lot more pungent as they flower though.
Thanks core yes they are the mod's are filling out a bit and the lemon stinky has small buds and the hashberry is just starting.
Hey bean thanks, great compliment coming from you!
I took a couple of pic's today which are below i will do another proper update in the week. I though i had got rid of the dam thrips but the lemon stinky has mild damage. I have sprayed her again and will use the other spray in a day or too. I got some insect traps today they are yellow and sticky. Apparently it should work on thrips but will see. Also when i was at b and q i found a 24 water butt dripper set. I plan to use this outdoors if i can find the right location, i am looking mainly at streams and rivers. If not it might come in handy as i plan to set up a 600w possibly with coco.

Heres a close up of lemon stinky, she's a vigorous grower and i will leave it at this pic for now as she hasn't changed too much overall.
