Hey guys well my lights finally arrived , I still am waiting for the ventalation ducting and stuff so i can split the extraction in two so i can get the intakes right down by the bulbs.
Still got one light on with some vegging plants under there.
So i have these germed and in soil
Swazi rooi bart (african seeds) x3
Blockhead (spice of life) x5
Mountain High Mix x5
Kill Bill ( Reservoir) x3
Mississippi Mud (JLP) x3
plus a couple of Durban poison x skunk by sam and have a couple more germed with the last couple of swazi rooi bart waiting to be planted but i have run out of pots.
So i have 34 seedlings including the 8 maroc's and then i have the rooted cascadia and 7 more rooting and the remaining 6 seeds to be planted. I plan to do about 20 plants in the 3 gallon pots some soil some coco.
Well here they are i wont be boring you with many vegg pic's, probably start a new thread for flower but thought needed pic's to explain.
Now the Swazi rooi bart hadnt germed after 4 days but thats not surprising how long ago African seeds stopped selling. The Durban x skunk have a reputation for being hard to germ too.
So i have done this before i would recommend it if you haven't tried normal germing first as theres a bit of a risk. Basically i cut the seed casing's with a sharp knife. In the past i use to cut down the crease in the seed. But what i tried this time is made a small cut split on the front of the seed IE. the opposite end of where the seed was connected to the pod. By enlarging the hole slightly i found the tap root and then enlarged the hole so that the tap root was almost not restricted at all. In the case bellow i opened up the side a bit more rather then the front. although the pic's dont really show it within and hour or so the tap root had moved slightly to the side and started growing out after a few hours and was planted.
I was drunk when i started and damaged one of the Durbans but all the other were cut and have tap roots so lets say 4/4 germ and all the swazi rooi bart were given 4 days nothing and now all have germed.
Like i say don't blame me if you destroy your expensive seeds but it works for me.
The only problem i have is i germed the Durban to replace the swazi but now i got both on an another note i plan to reproduce the swazi rooi bart as they seem bit hard to find now, will also do the same with the Durban assuming i get a male and female as it would be nice to have some fresher seeds of this. Red Durban or Durban rooi bart might be cool too.
Yesterday i collected a couple of packets of pollen from my Cascadia male and he still have a lot left to give.
Have a great day !
