its fun to look at them pups hehe when the mum is out for a walk or just for a break they tuggle in whit each others but when they eat damn the big ones rules big time its nature from its ugly side when they do that.
Only the strongest will survive gene and that u can breed out of them .so i have to take the big ones away so the small ones can get a sip to :)

Great pictures everyone, good to see people are still at it.

Backwoodburner Those coast shots are amazing, I love the Northern California coast so much. Same goes for the whole west coast, from Norcal to Alaska, I would only live in this region. Although other places are great ti visit.

I really like those rottweilers, long ago I thought of getting one my self but doubt I would have one unless I own property.
Here are a few pictures, misc. stuff I've shot. I'll start with the love of my life, haha, I love her to death, but her coat is a pain.

Well when we are whit the pups :)
My french bulldog Miss Mud

Mobpop.jpg

she is such a cutie lol.

i take pics of all my friends dogs when they come by, maybe i should upload them :D i'm all dog crazy at the moment...sigh, but its allrite cus i have aicko there to keep me company next summer when we go fishing, and then the year after i will most DEF get one myself aswell.

oh and i would just like to specify and clarify with the upmost respect to anyone who might be practicing catch and release when troutfishing. and to all other nature lovers out there that we have very good reason for not practicing catch and release in these areas.

first and foremost, very important, the trout is not indigenous here, it is a fierce predatory fish and it is territorial. it competes with another very very special and important fish for this habitat. look at this, its the most beutiful creature i know of, the arctic charr. its in the salmon family, and it is just perfect beauty and natural design. and we release these arctic charr when we catch them unless we are hungry.

roye.jpg

(not my pic this one, i got my face in all the charr shots.)

secondly, the areas are through local enthusiasm protected by law from any motor transportation, even snowmobiles and helicopter landings or micro seaplane landing on any of the lakes. so the ONLY way in is a 2 day long kneebreaking mosquito hell of a walk. also there is no commercial fishing and very limited tourism allowed. basically you have to be accompanied by a local to get full access. the fishing is even restricted for people from other parts of the country.

third we carry as little as possible into the areas, because any little piece of plastic caught by the wind is a potential disaster in this most fragile ecosystem on earth, the arctic. we take only food fish, and then last night upon return we fish to bring home to the family. look at our fishing rods and gear in the pictures and you see we dont have expencive flyrods and flashy stuff, just basic gear for catching food. (not that i mind people that can afford that, id like some new stuff tbh)

65642Laksefjordvidda_2002_081.jpg

fourth there is such an abundance of wild trout here, i guess it would be hard to understand for someone living in an urbanized area or in england or usa, mainland europe.. whatever. where trout is endangered. here's just thousands of freshwater lakes and large rivers connected which makes the perfect trout habitat. they grow up to over 10 kg in inland lakes, and the seatrout grows up to over 15 kg. even 20 kg specimens have been caught, but 5kg+ is normal. wild atlantic salmon grows to over 30 kg, even 35-40 and over 20 kg salmon gets caught every year. what is seen on my pics is pan size.

random map section finnmark county north norway (close to north cape, eurasia north point), ALL of these lakes will be trout and charr lakes, toss a lure at random. i could also have scrolled in any direction on google maps to see the same amount of lakes everywhere.

65642vidda.JPG

finally, the fifth good reason why we dont catch and release. we are local, with generations attatched to the land. and look(below).. no banana trees hehe
i just mean not much grows here, so we rely on harvesting responsibly from nature for food. fish being the main resource. and very important in winter when we get no sun for vitamin D so we dont get sick :D afterall no reason to go buy expencive crappy store food when you get this free.

take a gaze at the hill and the rainshower in the distance here, that is a 2 hour walk, the walking distance in to this pic is a 2 day walk. in here, there is just no nothing except trout, mosquitos and small berries. damn i should have uploaded some mosquito shots for you, my personal record is 28 mosquitos in one hit slamming my flat hands together randomly. if that gives you an idea how many of the little bloodsuckers there are. i think there's an annual mosquito slapping contest somewhere lol.

65642Laksefjordvidda_2002_074.jpg

so again with the upmost respect to all out there, i beg your understanding and i give you my reassurance that we travel with the deepest care and with age old traditions. the knowledge about the areas and how to behave in nature is inserted in us from the moment we are born up here. afterall its the only place where loads of these species still flourish in the wild, because locals fought like hell to keep commercial interrests away. and i mean there was bloodshed sometimes fighting against commercial fishing and water dams. still goes on. its our legacy, and its my biggest pride and joy in life.

i just wanted to specify and clarify this to you all, because i got some positive constructive critizism in the rep department from a coupple of people regarding catch and release. thank you  but i hope you can respect this, i guess the dead fish pics are a bit barbaric to some people, but hey nature is abit barbaric sometimes right? especially here in the arctic, its unforgiving, so in my eyes i feel at one with nature when i harvest from it.

but please, lets not start a catch and release discussion, that was not the intention. i just wanted to explain this, i fully understand and respect catch and release principals. given the circumstances explained above tho, its a different setting.

lets get back to the beautiful nature pics, i just absolutely loved the desert shots by the way unless i already said that. since i'm boring you all with all my text ill try to get up with teh little daylight there is tomorrow and take some winter shots for you all. we have loads of snow here now, and christmas coming up so should be nice :D

Thousands of these woodpeckers live around me, while I was walking through woods looking for some wildlife, which was impossible as I was making way too much noise to keep my presence a secret, they little guys started swarming me and singing out, it was kind of creepy actually, almost sounding like they were being tortured.

This is what I had to contend with going through the woods, nearly impassable

Can't forget about this thread, I mean, whats better then sharing pictures with each other of our beautiful Mother Earth. A few winter pictures of the Sonoran desert, then a few up in Mendocino.
