Really great shots guys!

Thats some weird lichen/fungus..... Never seen that before.... :chin:
What's cool is that it is not crispy or dry, but soft and flexible if you run your fingers through it. Hard to get a nice fully crisp picture of it though, since the depth of all the hairs differ a lot

Hello,

great thread, really nice pic's of the wonderfull nature.

Here some Normandie's (france) nature pics: (flowers & butterfly's)

(dont got a good cam a this moment, so the shots are "regular")

I love nature, to go a few hours while smoking a :smoke: to take time to look around is, to listen the songs which nature offers...a simple pleasure but so much good :respect:

Its almost like that fungus/lichen took the code for the structure of roots and used it for the shoots.... cook stuff! :chin:

Saturn is nuts! Its weird that the ring is exactly flat! Looks like a colorful aurora if you could have a solid surface to stand on..... isn't saturn just gas?

Its spring!

Nice. I LOVE MOSS. As some of you may know. One day I will achieve an all-moss lawn so I can fucking roll around in it and smoke in it. I wanna get into moss cultivation. Seems pretty damn easy outdoors. Indoors is another thing.

What's extra cool is moss will just freeze or dry up and then with some temps above freezing or some water it'll spring back to life.

I was amazed at how complicated moss reproduction was once I learned about it this year. It's pretty cool, it's explained on the net pretty well in some places. This picture just about sums it up...

What's cool is that over time the sprophyte and the gametophyte separated over time. Also, the sporophyte got huge in modern plants, and the gametophyte got microscopic.

First, mosses came, with large gametophytes (green plantlike portion) and small sporophytes (stalk that shoots up and disperses spores). Then ferns came. Their sporophyte (the fern plant) was dominant/large and their gametophyte (a tiny little leaf) was very small, but still, big, at 1" across or so.

Then, other more modern vascular plants like trees and plants evolved in such a way that what we see as a sporophyte is the TREE! And the tree's gametophytes are now microscopic - they're pollen & eggs.

That trend is pretty cool to me. I can't find a picture to illustrate it though.

Yup, I remember that from class..... Never thought of the function of the gametophyte being taken over by stamen>>pollen and pistil>>egg..... Doesn't Bush not believe in evolution?! :yoinks:

Moss is kickass. So is Travertine. Here is some on the way to Gorman Falls in Colorado Bend State Park.

This is some more of it at Gorman Falls, it was awesome. I would have loved to smoke a joint amongst all the greenery, but it is illegal to disturb it.

Badass little moss cave under the falls. It looked pretty big too, but you would probably ruin it getting in. Sorry about the fuzzyness...

The Plitvice Lakes of Croatia are breathtaking. The best build up of Travertine in perhaps the entire world.

I'm about to blast this thread with pictures, just warning you all.
1st day with sun in like 2 weeks, so I went and frollicked in the outdoors and biked through the woods. Found some stuff I've never seen before.

Fungus, coating the underneath of a rotting piece of wood.

Some kind of eggs under a log sitting on fungus, they're 2mm-3mm diameter I'd say
