My Super Stealth Closet Grow

Hey guys Tizzle here and i just started my first grow! Im not too sure exactly what im doing, so any and all suggestions would be greatly appreciated. So as far as my grow ill be going with a stacked rubbermaid closet grow, which i feel will be great for stealthability and yield should be ok once i get this bitch rollin! As far as seeds im going with 3 strains. ive got Skunk#1, A nirvana blend(not sure exact name, but sposed to be a fruity nirvana strain), and i got 1 nirvana NL x Haze seed.
As far as the growbox itself ill be using 2 35gal rubbermaids for a total of L32XW19.5XH38.

But while they are just seedlings im gonna use 1 so that lights are close to plants, then when they get bigger ill add the 2nd box. But for now its just an inconspicuous box in the closet...

Ill be going with 6 23w CFLs for veg and something around 40w for flower. Im thinking of 2-4 plants, not exactly sure tho. How many yall think i could fit in there? And you think 6 CFLs will do the trick?

As far as the inside for now im using an emergency blanket, but i need to switch because its not blocking all the light and my box is glowing! What do you guys think i could use to keep all my light in and make this bitch stop glowing?

For intake im running 3 45CFL comp fans. When plants get bigger im going to add 1 or 2 more fans for air circulation and maybe 1 on the lights to keep heat down. Right now im running around 80-85 degrees and no more than 90 even when covered with a blanket over it to keep light down.
And for exhaust i hooked up a 120mm 100CFL comp fan and im gonna run that to a carbon filter, prolly gonna make this home depot one. http://www.gardenscure.com/420/security/60127-ryoko-builds-diy-activated-carbon-filter.html

Heres some seedling shots so far and i think they're lookin good! we'll see where we turn out a few months from now!

Interesting grow box, I kind of like the glowing. but You could probably use soe black/white plastic inside would eliminate the majority of light, my main concern for you would be the amount of heat that is going to build up in there.
You space is pretty fixed and it will be full, I could not see anymore than two plants making it healthy in there, and would most likely be a bit sparse, especially the lower portions of the plants, If I were you, I would look at getting a large CFL light, somewhere around the 90 watt range. It will double your wattage and be cooler than 6 of those mini bulbs.

Hey man, I agree with the doc. Nice setup, I'll be interested to see how they do in there. Good luck ...

I like your setup (and the dog! does he speak? like men in black?), I'd suggest some black plastic or paint (although I'm not sure thats a great idea). Hope it goes well!

Yes but the 6 bulbs generate more heat than one would, I had a plant under a mini cfl in my flower box and the heat was nearly unmanageable, I have a 95 watt cfl now and all is good.

There are 3 full sized well vegged plants in here, If I were to flower these right now, they should double in size both height and width, I would have a jungle, poor air movement, and most likely Mold. There are about 12 inches from bulb now, and there is not much light reaching the bottom, I had pull off a dozen or so leaves just tonight that were dying.
Just my .2, it may turn out great.

Good Luck :joint:

tizzle homie hows it growin'. i use cfls for veg. if you are gonna spend money on bulbs consider a 150-175 watt hps security light. you get a better spectrum and better light penetration than with cfls. for flower you should have an hps bulb imo. and no more than 2 small plants in the rubbermaid to avoid disaster with crowding/ circulation problems. black white poly will solve glow on box and give better reflection inside.white side in ya know.. glue it to the inside.look how my floor glows. good luck ill be watching :lurk: curious

wow SirSmokealot that is pretty shiny. And i want to switch to hps eventually, but for my first grow i want to keep it kinda simple. And I have a small place so i dont want to toss my electricity bill up real high overnight either. And what do you guys think I should go with as far as a lighting schedule? Can i Keep the lights on 24/7 or do I got to have them off for a few? Well i guess im gonna head to the depot for some more grow stuff! Happy growing guys!

looking good tiz! I used to have a rubbermaid setup myself, and i used plastic spray paint to block light. First i spray painted the inside black, let it dry for a day or 2, then added a second coat of white spray paint. The rubbermaid didnt glow AT ALL, even when the room was pitch black. A can of white plastic spray paint and black plastic spray paint will cost about $8. Sinse youre using emergency blankets, you'll really need 2 coats of black, and 1 can of black spray paint. Just make sure you spray it outdoors, cus i remember i got REALLY dizzy when i sprayed indoors even with all the windows wide open.

Yea you could keep the light cycle @ 24/0, but you'd save some electricity if you keep things @ 18/6. Alot of growers dont notice a difference in growth when comparing 18/6 and 24/0 and i too dont see much of a difference. The choice is really up to you.

well hmmm i bought that reflectix stuff at home depot, but the smallest they had was like 4ft x 25 ft and it cost 43 bucks. so the spray paint actually sounds pretty good lol... well ive got some other shit to do before I can even install the reflectix so ill think about what im gonna do. Happy Growing!

I was up looking at some rubbermaid containers that I have here, I take back my estimate to two plants, if you LST them you should be able to get 4 plants going in there. But I would fan the shit out of them, once they start flowering, keep the air movement high.

Ya, also i got a 35gal tub, so its pretty big. Thinking if not 4 at least 3 pretty easy. And you say keep air movement high during flower? What happens if i dont have enough? How can I tell whats sufficient enough?

As for now the plants are doing great. They are getting their second set of leaves and Im pretty proud :jump: Sorry for the crappy pics... the damn camera always auto focuses out of focus! If you got good vision u might be able to make out the little new leaves.
Day 8

And they got water today!

I also redid my lightproofing a little. I painted the upper tub black so when plants are a little talled ill go ahead and add that once i put the reflectix on it should be totally light proof.

Also i took out the solar blanket and put in reflectix in the bottom tub. I wanted to paint it but didn't want the seedlings out of the tub for a day i want em to get all the light they can. The reflectix on the bottom totally light proofed it, but my lid still needs some work. I'm going to tape that up in the next few days.

Before Reflectix

After Reflectix

So its coming along and hopefully these little guys will get me stoned some day... oh ya also when do i need to start thinking of any sort of nute program? well im gonna go pass out Happy growing guys!

graet work bro. that is light tight now ehh. the circulation problems can lead to our worst enemy-mold. moldy nugs are no fun and can strike in right conditions. a nute program. before i can help what soil are your sprouts in. i use fox farm ocean forest. i will not use nutes for seedling the soil has plenty. after first transplant i still wait two week cause new soil from transplant provides nutes again. then i add light dose of seaweed and diamond necture. by four weeks if i veg longer i add light dose of botanicare sweet( helps with flower transition) and liquid kahrma. the kahrma is awsome. plants of all sizes in either cycle love it! i have happy healthy vegged plants always. i think i have raised four different strains on this regimine.
i have the same pc fan as you. how do you power yours i saw the 4 pin connector adapter thing. where can i get one and what does that go to. my fan is 100 cfm i tried to splice on a power supply and fan moved like an inch and stopped. the old fan i had years ago was just red/black wire and spliced right up. good luck and thanks for any help!

Nice job on making the box light tight tizzle. ^^^ Sounds like good advice, seedlings are v sensitive to nutes.

I like the new changes, they look sweet, what a difference the paint and reflectix made. You will need to light proof the top though.
As SirSmokalot said mold is your issue. In your box with the lid down you will get a massive heat build up, compared to being out in the open. When the temp rises your plants will essentially sweat and release humidty into the air, if you are air tight, then the moisture has no where to go, the air gets wet and stagnant and you have the right conditions for disease. So you want just like your pc, 2 fans, one sucking in, the other blowing out, you keep a negative pressure environment and the air moves throughout your area. Other than keeping them healthy the fan blowing on your plants will allow the stalks to thicken as well in that breeze
