Re-Vegging my hydro?

Re-Vegging my hydro?

Hi:

I'm starting to think about after the big chop - even thou I still have a way to go.

Has anyone been successful @ re-vegging your girls in a hydro set-up, like mine? I did some searching- and didn't find very much. Lots of soil re-veg, not but much hydro.

Stands to reason that if I leave some flowers on the girls, and trim the roots waaaayyy back (to say, 8" or so), then they should re-veg like a soil grow, right? But I just don't know.

I think I'd drop the nutes to around 400ppm (grow ferts, of course), and light gently for a week or 2 (should I use like, 2 - 26w CFLs, or my 150w MH, with the hood all of the way up perhaps), to get them back on the road to growth, before lowering the brights on them, and kicking the nutes up a notch.

Any thoughts on this? As always - Thanks in advance!

Here's my pictures-DuJour (hey, can you tell I like to show-them-off?!):

Still quite clear - but I think I'm seeing some clouding here - or is it my imagination?

I've revegged in hydro a few times with no problem.
Like you said, weak nutes and CFL's, and 24/0 on the lighting schedule.
If you drop the temp a few degrees it also helps.

5-3-2009 update:

5-3-2009 update:

Day 62 into 12/12 flowering, here's what I got:
I thought I should add some scale into this pic - so I used the universal ICMag measuring device to give an idea of the size of a typical bud - I have about a dozen of em' that are this size (buds, not lighters, I only have a couple of those!), then quite a few more that are about 1/2 - 3/4 that size. There's quite a lot of popcorn, also. Certainly not huge, but Northern Lights is an indica, so I guess I shouldn't expect schlong-sized colas, right?

- and there they all are!

Gratuitous bud porn:

And trich porn.

- I wonder if those trichs will ever start to turn!

My pH got a bit out of control due to stupidity, so I needed to partially drain-off/refill tonight to get that back under control again. It (pH) was up to around 6.4 for a day or 2, and the ppms started to rise to almost 1600, but I think I have it back @around 5.9 or 6 now & 1200ppm.

You've heard of measure twice, cut once? I have a variant: measure twice, then check it again, dammit - when it comes to pot ferts at least!

PS - one more picture that I missed, I think it's kinda perrrtey - like a Christmas tree!!

Thanks, Red - I appreciate it!!

It's amazing how well some images come-out using a cheap point & shoot camera & a $9 Radio Shack magnifier!

Good luck on the POM

I see you had a PPM rise. My plants are slowing down and I've pulled nutes down to 800ppm on this last watering starting week 6.

You're a bit ahead of me so I'm wondering if they are starting to take more water than nutes and you can drop your ppm's?

If that stuff smokes half as good as it looks, someone's going to get seriously stoned.

Yeah, I've been feeding with diluted ferts for about a week now, about 700ppm - nute levels do remain high (1200-1250ppm), but not spiked-out like the other day. I think you're right, she's gettin' ready; it's gonna be great!

Perhaps I should take the new water ppm levels down even more? There's just a bit of leaf-tip burn, not much - but more then before.

Heh-heh - one can hope, right FB?

I2!!! looks really nice in there!! I love the pics man the marco pic is really clear
what camera you using?

I answered your question about the corner piece to the screen in my thread I hope it was clear.

Man you have that thing tweaked now and looking sooo lush & frosty!!
it looks like a 70 day +/- flower period. I hope they start to amber up on you by the weekend.

It looks like you'll have a lot of trimming to do my friend!! excellent grow K++

I'd say 300 would be about right for now. For me I'm doing 800 this week 6 and 300 next week then water for 1-2 weeks and chop.

I was dialed in on my Dutchy on the last grow but tried for one more week, maybe two on the Shiska with high nutes. I kept pushing tip burn and would back off. I didn't get all the nutes clear on it and it was a harsh smoke. Not so much on the main cola but on the slower growing small buds. I got fall colours but it still held some N back.

I'm going to try something different too. My girls are just going to get 300ppm of Big Bud which is P, K and Mg and no Sensi Bloom which has N.

Hey l2g - thanks for the props! Yeah, your description of those end-pieces were clear, but I can't find them locally - I may just order them thru the link you provided. Thanks for that also.

Those macro pics are being taken with a Panasonic Lumix Point & Shoot camera that my daughter won, she doesn't use it much, so I "borrowed" it.

I used the Radio Shack magnifier by holding it right-up against the lens, it does a great job getting-into those trichs!

Most of my pictures are taken with a Nikon D70 DSLR, however - my toy!

I can start replacing fert water with plain water to lower my ppms down, but I'm wondering now - would reduction of the fert levels start to cloud/amber the trichs, or does that happen despite the nute levels?

I've been unsuccessful in getting cloudy/amber trichs. Remember my 1st grow? - over 100 days, and trichs were clear, never clouded/ambered! That ended up smoking harsh also. Could that have been from not reducing ferts?

5-6-2009 update

5-6-2009 update

High:

In addition to a shameless bump, in hopes that someone would answer my questions from last night, here's tonight's update.

OK - here's where I'm at Day 65 of 12/12 flowering.
ppms are around 925, pH is higher then it should be, around 6.2, which is kind-of strange, because I'm replacing fert water w/ plain water that has a pH of 5.25. I needed to add around 1-1/2 quarts of H2O tonight. I'll swap-out 1-gal of fert water w/ plain water tomorrow.

Here's a trich, and bud shot, taken tonight in as neutral of light that one can get near an HPS light:

Are these considered cloudy trichs? I don't see any amber trichs here either, is this correct? I don't mean to sound like an idiot here (but I can't help it!!), I'm just not sure of what I'm looking at. Any help in interpretation of these images would be appreciated for sure!

As always, thanks in advance for any insight.

Are you looking at the top of the buds or middle to bottom for amber? They look pretty clear to me.

They look a bit cloudy now compared to your other pics.

I've found the bottom of the oldest buds show cloudy amber first and works its way up the bud to the tip which is the newest growth. I clip a sample from a bud leaf the bottom and middle when checking.

Ah-hah, I've only been looking on the top of the buds.

Ehhh, so now I'm even more confused - do you chop when the bottoms are showing 50 amber/50 cloudy, or the middle, or the tops?

Here's images of leaves off the same bud - 1st one is a fan leaf from the bottom of the bud, the 2nd one, the middle of it:

I'm pretty sure that I'm seeing a few amber trichs here.
