Great shot HC 
Sometimes the only shot needed at those beautiful deer, is a shot from the camera
Lovely pic HC, reminds of of a reindeer, are they closely related by chance?
These things come from South East Asia and India where tigers are their predator.
No wonder they're a bit toey...
Now it's just me......and a shit load of other people with rifles.

That's about the closest I've ever gotten to a big stag. He was on to me big time.
I could have shot him easily a long time before that.
But sometimes I just keep the rifle on the shoulder and go with the flow.

Obviously, we live in different jurisdictions. Although the minimum firearm requirements are identical, only license needed here is a hunting license. The wildlife authorities' views on feral animals here are kill them all by what ever means necessary. Total eradication is the end goal being that they are feral.
If you are hunting to be humane, aim for the brainstem as it results in instant death. This is also a more sporting method as you must be a better shot. However, I understand the thoracic shot method when hunting for food. Snaring and trapping equals same weight of meat for far less work and money. Nice to know you are in the bush while I am in the laboratory.

im losing alot of my early flowering strains to all the rain HC

shroomy i wish i had early flowering strains had nothing but bad luck cause of rain and hail here.. mold and destruction of plants.
In Goulburn having a mandatory break. Lots of water around. I've been told it's worse on the Newell Hwy.

I was never sent to a real war....good timing.
I knew one bloke who was in the Vietnam war.
He reckoned 1/2 the time he sat under some tree at night....pissing down rain...an L1A1 SLR...308 in his arms....smoked pot and was just scared shitless.
He was a good bloke and has since died...survived the war though...but treated like shit like they all were on return.

Ever heard of a 'deer stand' or 'deer blind'? They may not be legal in your jurisdiction but are generally the default method used where I was taught to hunt deer. Typically they are set up near rubs, scrapes, food sources, and water sources. They are an option that eliminates stalking for harvesting deer. Same amount of meat, perhaps more as a head shot ruins no edible flesh, for less work. It enables the stability needed for head shots at either close or long distances. Many, many deer have been made to fold like wet wash cloths from a deer stand or blind.
Regarding seeds and flowers: when you think they're ready wait another week.

I reckon tree stands take the fun and skill out of it. Not sure if they're used in Australia....definitely not where I live. We don't bait them with apples or other food either.
I prefer to stalk them...take them on in their own territory.
Sometimes I win...usually they do.
Much more enjoyable just to walk through the bush, take it all in and if you get a shot....well that's just a bonus.

Actually it takes much skill to correctly place a stand. You must use knowledge of animal behavior, tracking, and how to be invisible to your prey in broad daylight. There's nothing at all wrong with baiting your prey, be it with food, pheromones, or other means. Baiting is quite an effective strategy for harvesting meat as it is manipulating animal behavior. If one doesn't need to harvest meat from the wild to eat, slaughter one of your farm animals or go to the market. You did say these deer are feral, which to my klan means total eradication by whatever means necessary. Different regions have different views.

The force is strong....the sativa influence from the thai male seems very powerful.
The seeds are there but not ready to harvest.
I might put 1000W over them for a week...don't really know why...just for the hell of it.

There is no eradication policy on any deer here...be it Sambar, Red, Fallow, Hog or Chital deer. Not enough studies have been done on the environmental impact of deer. There are worse ferals around...pigs(hogs), foxes, rabbits...and cane toads.
Deer are not a major threat...the others are.
At the moment they are a valuable resource. The pursuit of these animals earns a lot of people a lot of money. Mainly US weapon maufacturers I would suggest. Good old Winchester.
Thus the hunting season for each species is controlled depending on their mating habits. No hunting whilst breeding.
Not so for Sambar deer...they shag at any time of the year...so it's open season...yeeeh!
