My First Grow - 400watt, soil, bunch of seeds

right on! did you cut the hole for your veny yet? can i see more shots of your grow room. LOVE the ducttaped blower. looks like you know what you are doing though. i have never seen MG perlite and wounder if it has MG ferts in it. but perlite is a GREAT additive. you can find it at and gardening store and walmart. let your dirt dry out beteen waters and lay off the ferts fro a few weeks. purp and red stems are fine. nothing to worry about. they grow out of it.

Well im gonna transplant 2morrow. most of the older ones have roots i can see on teh bottom. SO i figure ill put em all in 3 gallon grow bags.

Some of the newer ones are growing a bit slower. I dunno if i gave em 2much water and stunted em a little. I dont think so.

Some of the ones that were purple were turning away. Chat members suggested it was a pH problem. Since im not checking pH im gonna buy some spring water 2morrow. And also start giving some of the bigger ones some nutes.

Spring water might not solve it. The PH problem could be coming from the soil itself. What kind of soil is it? Please be very careful with the roots, if you tear them you really fuck them up. I would know :p

Transplanted the little bitches into some 3 gallon grow bags. After doing the first one full, i thought it would be my best interest to roll them down a bit. I figured that i dont want them to get that big so i will use smaller bags.

All went okay. One red cup didn't stay together when i transplanted, but i'll hope for the best.

Gave each one about 2-3quarts of water. Seemed to do the job. Ill get pictures later 2nite.

Well heres the pictures.

What do you guys think about putting these under the 400watt hps in a few days. It will be aircooled maybe keep them about 2 feet away from the lights? Just because i dont think my veg chamber is very proper for this setup in the grow bags. was great in the red cups but now light much more spread out. but yeah thats a box fan, and i have a emergency blanket over it just to reflect it a bit more.

Anyway pics.

Right on marley1 your off and cooking..
some tips..the plants are young and developing a root structure..too much water at this point will show signs of def like the yellow leaves..
In those cups it should be days before any more water is needed..the soil that has no roots yet will stay moist for a long time..
roots need O2 as well as water..not watering them much will encourage the roots to grow to the water and have plenty of air..
too much water and the roots begin to drown and rot..now in a couple weeks they'll be able to drink that whole cup in a day..
I like 18/6..plants seem healthier with a dark period..I only use 24/0 for fresh cut clones..but that's just how I roll..
If that Sta-Green pot soil is enriched (usually is) if this is All purpose potting soil then..
"Sta-Green All Purpose Potting Mix is also enriched with Sta-Green Plant Food that gets plants and flowers off to a great start..NPK 0.13-0.04-0.09"
You won't even need to feed them until a few weeks in veg..

yeah im just leaving on 24 for another few days, then im gonna go to 18/6.

Im doing the 24 hour thing for a few reason, one i think its just going faster(no real means to compare but going so good now), and 2 at night the kitchen does get a little colder since its the outside wall. so the lights keep it nice and warm.

i was gonna leave it on 24/0 till they were matured enough to go under hps which i would do as 18/6.

hay marley

those can go under hps. i started seed 1 foot under a 150w hps and they did fine. id start that 400w with the bulb 2-3 feet above the seedlings then move it 6 inches closer every day or 2.

well senseless got me motivated.

I moved my 400watt into my bedroom closet. ducted and its going. i still have to finish the bottom. gonna be a bitch to get into but hopefully i wont have to do much of that. the bottom will have another piece of cardboard with a intake fan. and the emergency blanket will be tacked onto my wall as the door.

seems to be fine with temps
