My First Grow 400W CMH with 3x strains

it would be cool if you had a little runty mong male that you could mate with your mong female and see what there offspring are like. 2 wrongs (mongs) dont make a right but it might make a cool looking plant

:biglaugh: That WOULD be interesting.

ive got a super runty hindu kush male that had balls at 2 inches from soil, he can be seen in the "full cabinet" shot in that last post. hes in the tray with only 2 pots. theres a tomato plant in there too if you were wondering what that awkward double solo cup configuration was

ive got some definite yellowing tips, which im lead to believe is a nitrogen deficiency... i also found a single rust spot on one of the white russian hindu kush leaves, so i have officially learned the importance of applying the teas as required.

im going to give them some molasses with their waterings to help out the possible cal/mag rust spots but im gonna have to wait til the next tea to properly apply more nutrients correct?

im going to germ those seeds once these girls hit day 27, and i absolutely cannot wait! im excited to try finding a strong looking male and keep a large quantity of pollen as breeding stock after a few runs of em. I love purple phenos, and good smoke =)

hey guys, good thread.
there is away to keep males.
once you sex them, flower them in a 5 gal bucket(keep them small) put plastic wrap over the top, cut a hole in the plastic wrap and put a filter on it. this way the pollen wont get everywhere, and it gets air. (im sure it can be improved with a reflective interior of the bucket.)
im just starting to get some males, (c99 x PR, and PPP) i have a clone box, but when i know whats male for sure, they are going into tents. so this method is huge in a confined area. ive seen it done. but i havent yet done it myself, i will be soon.
hope this helps.

did you manage to move them in time? have you noticed any of the hairs on your girls turning brown?

i decided to just cut down all the males and on my next batch of seeds im going to find a nice jem male and use him to do the pollen keeping. the girls are currently looking a bit sad, clearly wanting some more nutes.. just waiting til tomorrow now.

after their tea ill update with some pictures.

OH yeah i added two 68watt 2700k cfls i picked up from the de-pot on one side of my cmh bulb to see how temps run over night, im thinking of adding two more since this 40$ investment might see me gain some yield

my other camera's battery is MIA so youre going to have to deal with shitty cellphone pics.

i read on the back of my happy frog fruit and flower that the N compound is non soluble and is most likely the reason for the sick girl below. I bubbled my tea for 8 hours yesterday in 70ish degree temps, fed the girls and went to bed. when i went back this morning the yellowing had taken over an entire fan leaf and started attacking others.

the second picture is off of the white russian hindu kush you see to the left in the first picture. Her leaves look to be rusting as well as dying off. im going over to the infirmary.

everything seems to start making sense now that i look back on it. right around the time of the second tea, where i noticed a slight yellowing of tips their growth had been stunted. theyre only 4-7 inches above pot at most, where they should be closer to 12. N def. means stunted vegetative growth, im going to go buy some black and gold rose and flower once the holidays are done with and then im droppin the 20+ additional seeds and hopefully can get an oz or so out of this crop.

are you diluting your teas with water after you brew them? I was making the mistake of using straight brewed tea on some little OG clones before and had yellowing problems and stunted growth

I've seen plants that were same age and variety/phenotype be completely different heights solely because of too much water. I've noticed auto-flowers slow way down when they're over-watered and go through spurts of growth once drying out...Try it out if you don't believe me...Heavily water two of your plants over and over again and keep their moisture high (not enough to visually damage or droop them). Now take two of the same pheno's and water them 1/3rd of the water the other one gets while letting it dry out. The one with less water will have grown more. Less is more...sorry if this is irrelevant.:xmasnut:

ok lets get all this bad plant growth fixed.

The ICC TEA METHOD. Has never shown any kinda of growth problems that you are seeing. I have used it for yrs with the Peace of Mind line of Ferts and 3 times with the new Happy Frog as Fox Farm swares it is the same thing. I feel the Happy Frog is close but it has differences,, TheRise, please answer these Q's so we can figure this out.

Are you using the FoxFarm Ocean Forest Soil mix?
How are you keeping the miosture Level of the soil? Wet, Semi Wet, damp, dry?
When you transplanted did you water the soil heavily to get some run off?
How much water are you giving them and how often?
What is the pH and PPM of the plain water you are using?
Did you prep the soil by adding some of the Happy Frog to the soil before planting?

From what I can see it is Lack of Moisture Stess, either from letting them get too dry between waterings, or not giving them enough water when watering. Every time you water you sould cover the entire top of the soil making sure there is never any dry spots. Some run off is ok every time you water, but when you feed you need at least 12-16 oz of Run Off for each pot. I have never seen the growth problems you are experiencing with this system, as I designed it to be idiot proof. There is definitely enough N in your TEA and in the Soil itself. The next step would be to add some of the Happy Frog to your soil before planting. The Happy Frog Fert has both Fast Release and Slow Release N in it there is no reason for you to have N def. If you look at the pics in the AF SOG Im doing now, I didn't feed them the Medium TEA at day28, I stuck with the MILD TEA as the plants where showing very healthy growth and I didnt want to over do it. Watch your plants and feed accordingly. Something else is causing your problems, weather it be Newt lockout from pH of water or extreme PPM of the tap water you are using. Fox Farm OF soil is very well drained the only way you could over water it would be to totally soak them everyday. If you have the proper drainage holes you should be fine. Please give me more info so we can get you some nice growing plants. If we can't get it to work with the HAPPY FROG you will need to try the Black Gold Rose and Flower, as it is by far a better product and the best substitute for the Peace of Mind Fruit and Flower Fox Farm discontinued (JERKS!)

I will try and make a small video of the watering process, and show you how it is done to make sure you get them wet enough evenly.
I use a water wand I made myself and I will show you how to make it, total cost of it was 50$ or less, that includes the pump and parts. Takes me only 10 mins to water 48 plants, in the 5.5 in pots.

Merry Christmas!

NEVER DILUTE the TEA from my method. It is made and disigned to be the way it is. Make the TEA and use it. As for your clones becoming yellow and stunted,, was it from the TEA? If it was remember all strains require different amounts of different newts, your strain could be one of the very few that is sensitive to the TEA. As i have said before this Method is tolerated by most strains but there are some strains out there that it is just too hot for. I have a Mexican Sativa mother that only gets fed Mild TEA every 4 weeks as anything more then that it gets newt BURN. So, know your strain and its limits! And adjust accordingly. Instead of diluting try just making TEA with less newts in it when brewing. Instead of the Mild TEA (1 table Spoon per Gallon), try only 1 Teaspoon per gallon. Work the TEA so it works for you.

If you are using Happy Frog Fruit and Flower, i am still testing it and will make adjustment or drop it all together. Black Gold Rose and Flower is the best subsitute for the Peace Of Mind Fruit and Flower that this TEA system was design on.

Im currently also working on a new Raw TEA that you can make yourself by adding ingredients as many people in other parts of the world dont have access to the FoxFarm line of products. When that is complete I will let you all know the recipe.

Agree, know for fact that when plants are dry roots start growing more and looking for water...never have tried it inside, but know for fact it helps to dry em out outside.. if u want trees:tree:

This is where i had issues with the method, there is a temporary import ban on worm castings right now. So the fox farms products are no-ware to be found. A virus is beeing passed around worm farms that is killing worms off... anyways, not my field. Where i had issues is i couldn't get the EXACT brands you list. So i have to mimick the fox farms mix as best as i could.

I have found a good mix so far, the only issues i had were soluble N ferts in a compost. I found a brand that works, but it is VERY local so i can't name the brand. This brand brought gnats into my garden in a large way, so i have since nixed it. In the process lost my soluble N ferts, which is why i had/have to use guano/manuers in my teas now.

Maybe you/us here should try to work a soil/tea mix based around what is in the product (mix) Worm castings/guano/compst ect, as apposed to a "brand name" bag of soil... My thoughts.
