listen, as you can imagine living in a commercial grow is quite stresful. so, why would I want to manify that paranoia by posting pictures on the internet for fuck sakes? I live in the united states. personally, I don't care if you beieve it or not. I was just trying to put dude at ease about his power bill.

In My state, a 1500 a month power bill would attract attention from the power company, I've seen it over and over... The power company would either send a rep to asses the problem, or contact leo about suspicous use.

And as for pix.... talkin about it or posting some pix...about the same thing... a pic could be from anywhere... but believe me, if your in the west states and leo ever checks you power usage, there will be a search warrant issuing... and look for em to say you've been doing it for yrs based on past high power, and it WILL stick.... just like when they say your dealin cause u have 2 lbs of smoke in a bag.... it ain proof beyond a reasonable doubt anymore, its what does it MOST LIKELY look like....

Be cool bro... I've had them sized gardens and even larger, you must be doin something right if you've been rockin for 4+yrs..

How much can a 600w 12/12hr light expect to increase your bill every month? My bill recently went up a lot and I can't seem to read my bill statement correctly.

Dont know the exact amount... It would vary from local to local depending on energy prices. You can however save alot by tryng to save some elecitricity...some ideas off the top of my head that could save some electricity..............Be adament about turning off lights when you leave the room. Switfch out all the incandescant bulbs for CFL's. Dont watch TV. Set your timer so your lights turn on at night... In my area I get charged a different price range for their "peak" energy hours,,,, which is basically mid-day. BBQ more. If you have a electric dryer, buy a propane conversion setup (theres a thread about that on these forums somewhere). Consider installing a tank-less water heater.

Guys, Im shitting my pants! I just got my first electric bill since i started growing and its $121.00!

Comrade, chill $121 is not an attrociously high bill for a flat. Hell, even in the first flat I lived in- a 1 bedroom flat in LA- I was running an elec bill of about $250 p/mo.

You should focus on keeping your hobby as discrete as possible and ensure those around you don't have loose tongues. That is what's likely to get u busted, more than anythin else. As far as I know, even college students or part timers who lived in flats I knew off had higher elec bills than $121!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I mean.

But as a side thought, how did you get your bill so low?

It all depends how high your bill is and who your electric comes from. I remember reading on OG and IC mag from growers in CA that if the state or county supplys your energy then yeah, they will notify someone. But if it comes from a Private company like PGE. Then you dont have much to worry about. I dont know this as a fact, and would love to hear from credible sources.

P, that makes a lot of sense. I live In the south east united states. and I have never had one problem yet (knocking on wood). and my bill is quite a site. I m of the opinion that if you truly keep your mouth shut.you have nothing to worry about. stay safe,cyrus..

600 X 12 hrs X 30 days =216 kilowatts X 7 cent (in my area) + about $15/ month
Take 216 kilowatts and X how much they charge per kilowatt

yeah, I use maybe not more than 20$ a month just to run a 400w light, and thats on 24/0. switch to 12/12, that drops to half that. go from seed to harvest in under 3 months (3 week veg or so), got maybe 40-50$ maximum for light costs total each grow, and for the pumps and the fan for dwc hydro added to that, say add 20$ more, thats about 60-70$ total electric cost to obtain anywhere from 3 to 6+ ounces of high quality medicinal hydro. not bad considering in some places, you'll pay that much for even just 2-4 grams (NYC, Cali) and even for 40$ per 1/8th prices, that still beats it easily. If you grow well, you'll always see a return on your initial investment many times over each grow, and I don't mean by selling it, but by not buying it. save save save! and I won't even get into what pharmaceuticals can cost for some people monthly compared to cannabis.

Resin is right,pay that bill in full THE DAY AFTER it arrives,consistently month by month year by year.Never let a single day pass,if it comes sat. it out mon.Get on that preferred customer list that you know exists.Mine rarely exceeds 400 but is always close,thats in a tiny house with around 5K.I used to let this take an inordinate amount of my time and energy worrying about what?Becoming a valuable customer?Thats about the size of it.

Well I just got my new bill for last month. $423.57, thats for 2799 KWH its winter and we have elec. heat as well. But we have to pay the actual KW usage plus a delivery fee? Our power delivery charge is $.0735 for the first 700 KWH and $.042 after that.My bill for actual pwr usage was $252.88 then the delivery fee was $170.69 . Hows that for an ass rumpin "DRY" Oh yeah our Electricity charge is $.0872. But to try and read this billing thing and make the numbers match what they should be is impossible. Talk to a customer serv. rep and they will talk circles trying to explain what cant be explained lol

Sorry I forgot to ask. i have seen it a hundred times but cant remember how to convert the wattage of a whatever to actual KWH usage? can someone give a quick reminder to us all?

My wife has a glass kiln that sucks down 50 amps (5500W) so that's like 5 1K lights running, plus our place has a couple 250W merc lights outside that go on and off regularly every day - no worries.....that kiln cost $10 for a four hour burn!

You can add alot more shit before anyone will look twice.

1000 watts used for 1 hour is 1 KWh. 5000 watts for 1 hour is 5 KWh. 5000 watts used for 2 hours is 10 KWh and so on....

This equation measures power used regardless if you are 110V or 220 V because a 1000w 110V light uses exactly the same power as a 1000W 220V light. The difference is the 220 V light can have smaller wiring because half the current of the 110V model will be running through it. V and A are inversely proportionate.

Man dont worry about it, I wish my bill was only $120, my last bill was $508, but thats with 5000 running plus flo's for veg and the fans and I have never had a problem. Just pay the bill and they will be happy and so will you.
