My Electric Bill

G

Guest 18340

Guys, Im shitting my pants! I just got my first electric bill since i started growing and its $121.00! My bill before this one was only $88. My usage for this month was 1,119 kwh, last month was only 753. Im running a 600w digital ballast system with an inline fan for the cooltube and a small desk-top fan for the plants.
Will this bill raise suspicion at the power company?
Where i live (in the US) its warm right now so Im fucked when the summer comes and i gotta run my central-air conditioner.
Am i ok or should i abort the operation before the man comes knocking? :badday:

If you get your bill and pay it who cares. I have a floo heater that is 1500 watts running for 8 hours a day...plus my 400w... plus my real heat...
There are numberous appliances that take WAY more electricty... like a new fridge/freezer/computer/fish tank/reptile light/ gaming systems.....

It would have to spike hundreds of $ or more for anyone to even think about noticing.... not to mention you are paying the bill.... poeple who get fucked with electricity bills have to get their bills through their landlord...

trust me, the power company is not going to be suspeicious... all they care about is you paying them more money. Pay it on time and your fine.

I agree 100% with messiah.
I wouldn't worry about it, not a very significant jump.

Shit, my electric bill jumped $80 in December just from my Christmas lights. I wouldn't worry too much about that baby jump.

it's not a big problem.

if you want, cut out some other waist around your house, don't leave lights on. cook more often with your BBQ, get some compact fluorescents for your lamps, ect.

really it's not a big raise.

just a tip for you.

Pre pay your power bill, If you know this one cost you $120 then work that out over your period and then pay it weekly.

I pay mine in advance and when the bill arrives its already paid for.

The only time the power supply company will get the police involved if if your bypassing your metre, or stealing power.
It is then a federal offence.

I fell stupid now for being so paranoid. I kinda figured i was ok but this is my first grow and i didnt know what to expect. Now i know.

You do have some sort of odor control right? I would be more paranoid about smell than power consumtion.

For odor control i open my attic door. Im remote enough that a passerby cant get near enough, not even the mailman 'cause the mailbox is at the end of my 100ft driveway. I sealed up every nook and cranny with foam and sealed the door with thick plastic (its in my garage).

Your next investment should be a vaportek or cabon scrubber....

I agree though, you can get away without odor control.... especially with a low-odor strain... it isn't smart (you'll end up buying all kinds of smell cover ups at the store) but I slipped in a few grows with nothing (besides store bought odor control) myself... was a little more paranoid, and now that I have it more under control I wouldn't go back to doing it.

Just saying it'll be fine for this grow, but do invest in it... :D

Charcoal filter is the way to go.

Your power bill is not a prob at all, you made me chuckle that you were worried.

Install CFL's around your house, that will cut a little power.
