My Current Grow - Harvest Photos

Elevator,
I was going through your "My Current Grow - Indoor" thread and was saddened that the initial pics were gone. And then I found this thread with all the pix. I am humbled by your growing and photography skills. Your sensitive pallet and descriptions have inspired me to begin the process of stopping to smoke tobacco. You have done such a great job and taught so much. I will use your many posts as an example of how to do it right. I certainly understand why DJ trusted you with a test grow.

Cheers,
Dr. Conjuror

Dr. Conjuror - yeah, sorry about the initial pics disappearing, but I was permanently 'full up', and had to delete most of them. As for this thread, sorry there haven't been as many updates lately, but I'm only trying to post new strains or phenos, to avoid filling it up again too quickly! I will be starting some new seeds off soon, and there's a new SAGE S1 that'll be going into flower soon, and that one qualifies as far as I'm concerned!

But thanks for the kind comments - much appreciated.

Upcoming treat...

Upcoming treat...

It's been a while since I posted anything new up here - mainly as I'm only featuring strains I haven't done before now, to save gallery space. However, I recently had some good luck - the SAGE plant I grew out last year got lost when I gave the final mother to a friend to make clones from before he flowered it - and they all died. Needless to say I won't make that mistake again.

However, it had briefly hermied at week three when I grew it, due to overcrowding stress, presumably, as no-one else I knew had ever seen that occur - one male pod at the base of each bud, which produced a couple of selfed seeds in very bud. I really missed the taste and smell of that female, so I grew a few seeds out, and got quite a few odd phenos - lanky, and sativa leaves, but not very vigorous, and most died.

The one slow-growing plant turned into the one I was looking for, and bizarrely has an almost idential structure to the original, and pretty much the same smell, with a little extra hazy spiciness replacing some of the tropical fruitiness, but it's very close - the only other difference being it has some leaf varigation (yellow/green splotches), and doesn't look like it will turn purple like the original either - no biggie.

I've got a few test-buds drying now, and the main plant will come down at the weekend at nine weeks exactly, so I'll get some harvest pics and post them up, if only for informational purposes...:)

54. SAGE S1 - 63 days.

54. SAGE S1 - 63 days.

As promised, here's the S1 plant I grew from the now-defunct beauty I grew last year - I wouldn't ordinarily repeat a strain here unless it's particularly interesting, and this one is. The smell is almost identical to the original, with just a hint more haze spiciness, but tropical fruit and exotic herbs are the predominant smells. It's not dry yet, but the test buds I had a few days ago showd it holds in the flavour department too.

There's no purple this time, but it's not cold, so that may increase in a winter grow, but the color's not that important really. This plant also showed some yellow variagation on the occasional leaf, including budleaves. Funnily enough, the trait from the mother that caused its appearance - occasional single male flowers at the base of buds - has carried over. I found a few shrivelled male sepals here and there, with the odd unripened seed. So this line could carry on with or without cloning probably...:)

The yield doesn't look to be much sadly - the buds are drying light for sure, but there's at least an ounce, so I'll be OK for, like a fortnight or so...:(

55. Old Time Moonshine f2, pheno #3 - 91 days.

Here's the first of my OTM sativa phenos, reluctantly chopped at 13 weeks - I only say reluctantly as it's not quite finished, but I really could not wait any longer - although there's still another sativa pheno in flower, and due to be chopped in a few days!

Neither of these two got the lighting they deserved, partly as they stretched so much that they outgrew the light, and had to be bent and broken to get them back under the reflector, but that also meant that portions were unlit at times, and so they had to be rotated regularly, whilst soaking up important light that could have gone to smaller, faster plants. They had to be moved out for the last two weeks to another growroom to finish off, such was the hassle - a complete nightmare, basically.

In mitigation, the smell is absolutely divine - ripe, tropical fruit with hints of mint and chocolate, and although it's not a resinous pheno, I think it could be a very tasty smoke. Both of the sativa plants seem to be Juicy Fruit Thai-leaning, and as OTM phenos are quite variable, that's not too surprising I guess. Hopefully the highs will also reflect their sativa traits. Whether I get to run these two again remains to be seen at this stage...

Interesting. I've not read much on OTM but I would have expected something more indica, but as you say, plenty of variation in the line. Let's hope the smoke is worth it after 13 weeks!

I've got a more 'normal' mixed pheno at six weeks now that looks as if it will only go 9-10 weeks in total - it's a bit weird-looking, and may be a low-yielder at finish, but it's more what I was expecting. Still smells delicious though.

Be interesting to see what you think of these compared to the other sativa leaning DJ stuff like the Flo. Looking at the pics it's clear she could have gone longer. If the smoke is really nice are you considering running her again and letting her go as long as she needs? I suppose she'd have to be more than nice and flippin' amazing for that! lol I've done some amazing 16 weekers and some crap 16 weekers, in future anything I flower that long is gonna have tobe proven to be good!

It's very pleasant smoke, but I've got 11/12-week plants that do the same, so it needs to be really special to warrant the extra time/money, and I'm not sure if this one will be worth it. The other one might be though - and again, grown properly under the light, instead of to the side, would probably be done quicker than this.

Harvest pics of that one will go up tonight, but here's a trim shot to keep your appetites whetted - got to go help another friend set up a new growroom now. Yee-hah...onwards and upwards...;)

56. Old Time Moonshine f2, pheno #2 - 98 days.

This pheno looks to be the business, despite the 14-week flower period - long colas, big, fat calyxes, nicely stacked, and strongly reminiscent of a Thai hybrid - possibly close to the original Juicy Fruit Thai DJ Short used to create Blueberry. I have no idea how close, but the aroma is a beautiful strong tropical fruit mix, with pineapple and guava being the predominant smells. Resin is sticky, and the buds felt very firm to the touch, which suggests the yeild might be OK too.

It should be dry enough to smoke some in a day or two, and I'll report back on that, but if it's worth keeping, this one will be spread a little more widely for those hard-core sativa lovers...;)

Hmm, fingers crossed she is a special smoke, should be methinks.

Nice one, sign me up, you know me, I have no fear when it comes to awkward sativa bitches!

Were any otm males retained? A cross of the JF Thai pheno to moflo might be in order? Work the sativa end of the dj genepool in an intriguing way. JF Thai pheno of OTM x OP Tahi pheno of moflo would be very intriguing.
