60. JLo (Kentish Creme X Flo) F1, pheno #4 - 68 days.

60. JLo (Kentish Creme X Flo) F1, pheno #4 - 68 days.

Here's pheno #4 of the JLo F1s, and this is much more of what I'm after - very dense buds, large calyxes/seeds, profuse resin coverage, and higher yield. The smell is much more like the Kentish Creme - dusty, musky, earthy when growing, with a sweeter, fruity but still quite acrid-hashy tone appearing as it dries. This one ultimately will have a 'choco-lime' smell when done, I think. Organically grown, like all the plants I'm doing now, with the BioCanna range.

The resin on this one is almost as profuse as the pure Kentish Creme - not quite as many tangled trichomes, but the bud leaves are plastered underneath, and will make some very nice trim-hash. It's also good to see the calyxes stacking so tight, and some kind of cola formation too, which is less common with the parents, especially Flo.

Overall, this looks to be an excellent alternative to the Kentish Creme, as it's close enough finished to be mistaken for it, but I think it will produce much more per plant than the original. I've made F2 seeds from this plant too - don't seem to be as many as #3 produced, but there should be enough...;)

Hey eman. You appear to be a little bit of a dj fan? Maybe, I'm jumping to conclusions. Just curious if you've dabbled with the f-13? I've got some going guerillistically outdoors, and the three phenos I've got have absolutely gorgeous structure, resin coverage, and aromas from dark chocolate/coffee to fermenting blueberry jam. They resemble your flo's in some ways, mostly in the red stems and curling upturned leaves, which seemed problematic in seedling stage, working themselves out by midveg, then recurring now at late flower.

Thanks for the show. You've got a lovely array of genetics in this thread. Good thoughts crossing the malawi into Dj's genes. Hope you can get its traits to your liking, and perhaps make enough for the ic community. Keep em coming.

Thanks,

Yeti

Thanks for the comments folks. F-13 is the only one I've yet to try - got a few f2 seeds, but they're very pale, and last attempt refused to germ any at all. Not really an issue though, as I have enough Flo incrosses to probably get close to F-13 anyway. The dark chocolate/coffee aroma is quite common in this line, I've found.

And govnaa - the first time I saw your rendering, I thought it looked familiar - thanks for being inspired from that!

61. Bilberry (f3 Blueberry X (Mystery Strain X Flo)), pheno #1 - 65 days.

61. Bilberry (f3 Blueberry X (Mystery Strain X Flo)), pheno #1 - 65 days.

The Bilberry cross was an attempt to improve a very special Blueberry I'd found, incredible in aroma, taste and high, and whose only weakness was light buds, and therefore very low yields. However, the potential was there - it just needed crossing with something else, so I tried a particularly nice male of a cross I made ages ago, and nicknamed 'Overflow'. I've never flowered a female of this cross, but the male had everything I needed, and so I ended up a year later growing out three females of this final hybrid. All three were an improvement on the original, with a couple showing some very positive traits, and all were very stable with no trace of hermies.

Pheno #1 has club-shaped buds, longer than the others, and fluffier - it also has probably the mildest and least interesting smell of the three, but still a very pleasant, figgy smell when growing, but it does dry down to a somewhat blander skunky/fruity mix - nice, but nothing unique. The budleaves however, are plastered with resin - very high coverage indeed. The high was probably the most stoney of the three, though not by much, as all are in the cheerful/euphoric zone of the high spectrum, and not really sedative at all.

The buds still suffered slightly from lightness when dry, although much improved on the mother, but overall this was the least interesting, and I'll probably let this one go.

62. Bilberry (f3 Blueberry X (Mystery Strain X Flo)), pheno #3 - 65 days.

62. Bilberry (f3 Blueberry X (Mystery Strain X Flo)), pheno #3 - 65 days.

Pheno #3 was much more exciting, as it had not only retained the orignal Blueberry smell, but strengthened it - to date it's easily the most blueberry-like smell I've encountered growing weed, and it has the most delicious perfumed, floral back-end which is really enjoyable to smell from a distance - reminded me a little of Bluebells or Hyacinths, so this might become the 'Bluebell' plant I've been looking for.

The buds are more typically 'bullet' shaped, and it's a stocky plant with strong branching tendencies - I got a lot of buds all the same size, rather than a few large ones. The calyxes are tight, and there's very little wastage. As with pheno #1 (all 3 in fact), the resin coverage on the budleaves is extreme, making for some very handy trim indeed. The high was just like the mother - up, cheerful and euphoric, though less crisp than something like Flo.

The buds are still a little too light in my opinion to truly make it as a commercial plant, but as a conoisseur head-stash, it's impeccable, and easy to grow too - and nine weeks in organic soil is pretty fast, so I'm keeping this one for another run - at least!

63. Bilberry (f3 Blueberry X (Mystery Strain X Flo)), pheno #2 - 78 days.

63. Bilberry (f3 Blueberry X (Mystery Strain X Flo)), pheno #2 - 78 days.

This plant was something of anomaly, given that none of the three parents used to make this cross ever took more than nine-ten weeks to flower, so an eleven-week plus pheno is unusual to say the least. It could easily have gone to twelve weeks, as some glands were still clear, but I had a log-jam developing behind it, so it had to come down - next time...;)

This pheno was structurally a Mystery Strain plant, with hints of Flo, and the smell was more akin to a mix of those two - still blueberry-leaning, but with more subtle, berry aromas with some dark minty/choc/nutty hints behind the fruitiness - and more 'tangy' overall too, and less sweet than the others, so definitely more deserving of the Bilberry name. Despite the long flower-time, I think this will be the one to develop further, as it was the highest yielder, as well as having the most of the other traits I was after - dense buds, stacked calyxes, high resin content and a strong but clear high with slightly psychedelic edge - which it should, at eleven-plus weeks.

As with the others, it had very high resin coverage on the budleaves, and I've just made some bubblehash with the trim from all three mixed together - I got 5.4 grams from 40 grams of trim, which is riduculous - broke my 10% extraction record easily! Altogether, it's an interesting experiment, and I've got one, or possibly two keepers, so I'm happy with the progress so far.
