supersecretgrow I do have paint peeling off after evey grow so i just put on a fresh coat let it dry a few days and its like new again.

spliffdiddy Basically it just keeps the light from directly leaving the box. I need to work on a new one. Light cant turn corners so if i had 2 90 degree corners in there instead of the T it would work much better.

Revegged_Clone Im in the process of adding 2 T5s to the lower sides of the box. Im sure it will add the extra light i need to boost up the bottoms.

DRKN_MNKY420 Thnx for stopping in . Make sure you use alot of caution growing in cardboard. ill stop by yer theard and check it out.

HILLBILLY 420 Thnx. I bought the bathroom vanity light at homedepot for 9 bucks i think. they vary in size from 3 bulb to 6 bulb i think.

NOFpuXnk The key is to keep the lights so close they burn the tips of the leaves. I think with adding the T5s ill get it even better. I hope atleast.

Ive let this bubblegum go a week longer than last time this run letting these seeds finish up and the smell is allmost to much. Smells like a dead something is in the box and i dont even think a carbonscrubber would work. About 1 more week and the seeds will be falling out. New crosses and apollo 13 run will be next. Had to do a seed run while i had the chance. Peace LL

Thnx HerbGlaze. I tried scrog when i first started using this box set up and found it hard to get to the pots to water. And it just seemed like a hassle. I started using rubber coated paperclips instead of a screen to control the canopy. Im now at the point i dont use anything and am getting my best results. I flower them short and let them grow up to the lights. Boxes are 30 gallon rubbermaids they come in all diff sizes. And the lights are 4-42 watt cfls. Found that with a small area to grow in less is better. Ive used 8-42 watt bulbs and my results were stretchy plants with very airy buds. My current grow im trying something new. Ive been topping sence i switched the lights a week ago. If a branch gets to high i chop it back to the next node. Its really put a stop to the stretch and the tops are going crazy.hardest part about this grow is 6 diff strains in 2 boxes. ecsd is insane to keep under control in there. Hey i was wondering how tall the plants are when you first top them? Also how tall are they when you first switch to 12/12? HOw many times do you top? HOw much vertical growth space do you have?

I recently set up my Red Greenery style tub and decided to flower my plants a little earlier than i would have liked (im growing seeds anyways so i need to sex em before they can take up all the space they need). I didnt top the plants at all just pulled em over a little to get the bottom shoots some light. WHen is it too late to top the plants? Do you usually top before, right at, or after your switch to 12/12.

Once i start using clones i hope to be able to get my strain down and be able to do more training and topping, since i will already know that the plants are female and will be staying for the entire life of the grow.

Your grow was beautiful LL and i want to try to emulate it as best as possible!

Hey man.Nice work.I mean really nice.For the first time since I joined this site,I'm re-thinking my whole lazy-man set-up.Lol

I worked in a buddy's body shop,off and on,for about 15 years and I remember the trouble we had when we started getting cars that had those crappy plastic bumpers.You could sand'em and paint'em but it would peel in just a few weeks.Nowadays,they have a kind of primer that will make paint stick to plastic much,much better.If you plan on re-using your tubs many times,the primer sure would save ya a lotta money and time.Oh,and I would trust an automotive paint primer before I would an around-the-house type.It's prolly more expensive but formulated to fill in even the smallest pores of plastic,which your average automotive primer doesn't do so well.Here is a rust-Oleum link to read;

Edit:In case you decide to try primer,remember to lightly sand the tub with some 280 grit or a similar small-grained sandpaper.It'll help the primer help the paint to stick.

ReeferDan I found with this style growing its best to find a good branchy plant. I top when they look ready. I switched the lights on the current grow at an average 11 inchs. Anything that grew up and made the canopy uneven got the chop. My vertical space is:each box is 16.5 inchs tall so 33 total from top to bottom. Pots are 2 gallon and 7.5 inchs tall. Plants were 11 inchs tall at the switch. At the switch with the plants in the pots i was at 18.5 inchs. My lights run down the center of the box so that gives me 14.5 inchs of vert growth They dont usually have that much stretch. If the leaves arnt burning on the tips the lights arnt close enough. This grow ive been topping during bloom and only the outta control branches. Just testing it out to see what happens. Youll get it down im sure. It just takes alot of trial and error. Ive allways sexed before i put them into bloom so i didnt waste any space. Ill get some pics of the current grow tommorow. Problem im running into now is i have 6 diff strains in there and they all have diff growth patterns. If i dont keep it interesting ill get bord with it.

Still thinking about this set-up.I use a 150 hps.I'm too paranoid to order seed,and I'm reeaaally enjoying growing out bagseed sativas hunting for varieties that do well under my specific conditions.Sativas are almost all we get here.It has taken 9 months to identify one that should make a suitible mom.I have room for about 5 in my mom cab.So,I have a long journey ahead.

Sorry,I'm not up on whether bubble-gum is indica or sativa.Have you grown sativas in your tubs?I'm used to scroggin' ;lay'em out and tie 'em down.Cutting unruly limbs would leave me with little smoke.I would almost scream at the thought of pinching a top as it kills that top bud that makes up the largest portion of my final tally.

Whatya think?Is your set-up suited to sometimes lanky sats and how would you go about it?I'm also dabbling a little with 12/12 from seed,using seedlings that I keep finding at my local fishing hole.Have you tried 12/12 from seed in your set-up?Thanks in advance.

LL - would you mind PM'ing me instructions for the light set up you used? Im pretty bad with wiring and would like to get an idea of how you did it before I go out and buy supplies.


Also - I mentioned to my friend what you said about the paint peeling - he said to scour the entire inside of the rubbermaid then put your paint down. That should help with peeling and such.

Soul Its a pretty simple set up. Get yourself a 4 blub bathroom vanity and some good rated cord and wire it up. Only 3 wires to hook up black to black ,white to white and green is your ground.
