ICMag with help from Phlizon, Landrace Warden and The Vault is running a NEW contest for Christmas! You can check it here.
Prizes are: full spectrum led light, seeds & forum premium access. Come join in!
interested in your results with 12/12 from seed as well. I grow under CFLs/floros and thought it might be a good idea, but I dont know much about the whole thing.
Tucked the tips under the screen yesterday. Also, the bud sites are really starting to develop. The whole SCROG process seems pretty awkward at first but I suspect the result will be well worth it.
By my calculations, they should be finished in another 39 days or so. Say around December 3... just in time for winter break
edit: Wanted to ask, should I trim some of the lowest budsites that I doubt will make it to the screen? And If a fan leaf is blocking a budsite, should I cut the leaf if I can't just bend or tuck it out of the way?
The bud sites on the plant on the left are mostly centered around the main stem while the plant on the right is branching out more. They both look great though. I will have to post some bud shots sometime soon. Still not sure about the trimming, if anyone has any advice I would appreciate it.
Took the screen off considering that all the buds were growing underneath it, and the plants were not getting very big. Not really doing its job, guess I didn't really think that one through.
The plants are looking great, and the buds are starting to get all frosty. They have subtle but sweet and pineapple smell. Their growth, however has really slowed down. I was hoping they would be much larger by this time, there's a lot of space in the box thats not being used up.
Next grow will hopefully be two clones from one of these plants, which brings me to my questions. How should I go about taking a clone during flowering? And how long can I expect till it starts rooting? After this will the clones start vegging like normal?
I think you may be to far in flowering to take clones. I took a bunch of clones from a plant that was 2 weeks into 12/12 and barely showing flowers that took over 2 weeks to root and re-veg.
Lookin' good bro. Those nugs look sticky and tasty as heck
I wouldn't cut the fan leaves..."tuck and pull" is a better strategy IMO....
Yes, I'd say it's best to trim the lower growth....that's the point of Scrog...to maximize and concentrate the light energy on the tops....I do a final trim at the end of Transition
In the future consider a strategy for cloning....you could take the cuts during stretch (lower growth cuts from underneath the net)...labeling each...then you root the clones taken from the parent(s) you like
As you can see, I helped myself to a small sample. The results? WOW! This stuff is very potent! I would be more than happy with this as the final result, but it's gonna get even better! Wasn't quite happy with the taste however, but I'll give it some more time. Plus, it wasn't even fully cured, but I just couldn't wait. Definitely much like people describe the buzz to be, very energetic, and a bit racy. A great mind high. Creeps up on you too!
I think I will begin flushing tomorrow. I'm guessing two weeks left, probably less. The trichomes look like they are mostly cloudy but I have a hard time judging between clear and cloudy. Can anyone verify this from the closeup shot I posted? If not I can upload some closer pictures.
How are you gonna flush? With water? Carbs? This run I will do a pH final flush with carbs and a low PPM shot of nutes...sugars chelate excess nutes (effectively leaching said excess nutes from the medium) and they say low PPM flushes are more effective....
I won't flush with plain water with unadjusted pH again...ever
That sample sounds killer.... Not sure if I could wait much longer
I was planning on flushing with tap water and a little liquid karma. The pH of my tap water just happens to be about 6.5 if I remember right, so no adjustment necessary.
Been a while since I made an update, here they are in their last days of flowering, and the end result.
Day 57:
Day 61:
Day 61 (the results):
I gotta say I'm very happy with the outcome!
The buds are inside the tub drying at the moment with just the fan on. I boiled the trim to make a little cannabutter.
As soon as the buds dry up nicely, I'll take em out and weigh em and get some pictures.
And of course, a smoke report!
In just a few days I'm gonna start another 5 seeds and do it all over again
Thanks to everyone who helped me out!! And to all those on here who inspired me!
Well, it's all dried now. Final weight comes to 32 grams. Not bad considering how small the plants were. Next time however, I'm gonna try for 2oz. Speaking of which, I have 5 seeds that are ready to be put in the dirt. Look for my new grow journal soon!
Brilliant first grow, BTW! You seem to be a natural. My only advice is to keep it simple, and slowly tweak your already very successful technique. I think most problems I see on these boards are from people trying to be all high-tech and complicated without first nailing down the fundamentals.
