i'm not happy at all about prop 64 passing, i think it is designed to control the plant , not free it. it places stringent regulations on every aspect of one's involvement with cannabis.

regarding my farm, other than the few plants guaranteed to people older than 21, the new legalization law lets individual counties decide if they will ban growing or not. my county is not very cannabis friendly so probably nothing will change here, or could get worse.

I wish the california voters weren't so desperate to get high "legally", because this initiative is about as bad as they could make it. Things weren't bad before! none of the tax money will go to the public either, it all goes to cops and beaurocracy

Keep crushing it until 2019 and hopefully by then there will be some clarity on how all this is going to go down and we can be ready to adapt or jump ship to south america. The felonies make me sick personally. And the armored truck thing. Lol Orwell couldn't have even come up with that one.

probably by then caterpillar710 will be singlehandedly producing all the ganja for california and possibly the whole western seaboard. theres no need for guys like us to stick around. I'm thinking maybe a little island in panama.

yup, imagine one of those things rolling up to your farm, then imagine the cops showing up randomly (like they already do) except this time if you deny them entry without a warrant they can lock you up for a year bypassing the second ammendment.

You could always go work for 🐛

Just kidding bro...you know that would last about 47 minutes

If for some reason you ever do abandon farming, get your black and teach. That is something I could see you being exceptionally good at.

Actually we only have one more year until the landscape changes dramaticly, no more selling to dispensaries, ampred car bs, licensing, taxes, ext...

Schrews if you still wanna be a grower then start working on yr credit asap, stack every $ possible, and start planning for what to do after jan 1 2018

Remember guys, we atleast got the knowledge so moving to a different state might be a better option, im looking at nevada after yesterday..

Also the new law allows funds for increased complience officers, so now it wint.be jist cops and shit, they could higher brigades of bureaucrats to shut down growing in ban counties..

Im leaning towards buying a house in mendo for atleast a year and then go from there, nevada possibly if cali fucks 215 for good..

Careful. Gypsy Nirvana found himself a beautiful island in the Asia but when it went south on him, he found that the rule of law that applies in America, Canada, and Western Europe does not apply in third world countries.

Ever watch any of those Locked up Abroad episodes? Better to watch it on television than live it.

My county is moving forward with the strictest ordinance in the state.... banned outdoor and only 50sq ft indoors. This industry is a joke... only 30 or so growers showed up to the supervisors meeting yesterday. Ive got no idea where to look for the future.

I feel like the best bet is just remote land in a poor county and a couple greenhouses at this point

Tess, what felonies? As far as I can tell, under prop 64, it's either massive fines for unlicensed selling or max of 6 months jail and/or $500 fine for possession of over an ounce or more than 6 plants.

Prop 64 makes it possible for locked up people to be released . Other than that I'm worried about it . But maybe since we got our foot in the door with legal pot we can push to raise the plant limits and tweak the law in our favor .

yeah I did not think that through before I posted, but with that said it still is a step in the right direction? Ya'll can get rid of the bad parts of the legislation that you do NOT like and amend it to make it a much better system? Either way not going to jail over a plant imo is most. def. a step in the right direction!

In my state it's become impossible to fix anything. Because the average voter thinks it's legal, we're done. Cannabis is no longer an issue. We've tried to change or amend the legislation but it's impossible to get people or the press interested. Of course there's big money behind keeping it as is.
The opposite has happened. The government keeps passing rules to make it harder to grow personal, got rid of medical. You guys need to be on it, stay motivated and educated about what is going on. It's hard because most smokers don't care and we know there's a lot more of them then growers.
There was a proposition on the ballot, when the legislature voted to tax marijuana they had to let the voters decide. It came up on the ballot, whether to treat marijuana like any other agricultural commodity and tax it like everything else. Or let the legislature give it the huge 'sin tax' mark up, over 30%. Everyone voted for the tax, wasn't close. I'll bet most of the people who buy at the Rec shops voted for the tax. Because that's what they were told to do.

So I'm trying to read the text of these laws and figure out what it means for large medical growers. In my county, if you grow a lot of weed, they assume you are commercially cultivating and if they come knocking they come to arrest and charge with cultivation. They don't play and i don't see them allowing commercial grows.

What I've deduced so far from reading the text, is that cultivating or possessing any recreational amount over an ounce or 6 plants is up to 6 months in jail and/or fine. I guess that applies even if you have 28.5 lbs instead of grams.

It seems my county has no criminal recourse now against big growers-- they can only approach this civilly. They'll come knocking on big medical grows that are ostensibly for personal use, and they'll say it's commercial and hit you with fines for tax evasion and operating without a license. I don't know how much that would add up to. I'm also curious who would be doing that enforcement. It says in the penalties section of MMRSA that the town treasurer where the 'complaining attorney' resides can keep some of the penalty fines. Does that mean counties will have big financial incentive to come knocking on unlicensed grows? Like asset forfeiture for police?

Bro I came to Nevada 5 months ago...I really hoped it would turn out better we went from only 12 plants to NOW ONLY 6!!

Don't even THINK about trying to get one of those $250K commercial licenses either, their ONLY given out by lottery (winki...wink)...and on top of that you HAVE to have about $1 Mill in NET liquid assets also...plus the rumor is their sitting on them atm taking "bids" and only the corporate BIG boys hooked up get them..sure you can have my place ..I'm fucking headed to Oregon! Fuck this shit-hole NV

I wouldnt mind working for caterpillar. would rather do my own thing though if possible. I just really like growing weed and i think it's something i can do for a while. I am hoping california's new recreational cannabis laws will allow me to keep running my farm and also possibly open up a store to sell ganja locally. maybe even some distribution, who knows. I dont want to make millions i just want to crush it.

teaching jiu jitsu will probably always be a dream. just like being a professional musician. That's fine, it's nice to have hobbies where you dont have to worry about supporting yourself.

I started selling weed when i was 12; worked my way up from half-grams to 10-packs, then started growing; worked my way up from one light to a whole property. I feel like i've worked my way up the ladder for a long time now and it would be stupid to give up so easily. I do have (in my opinion) a deep relationship with the plant, and i genuinely believe i have something unique to offer in that sense.

But it's hard for me to navigate the legal bullshit. credit, taxes, licenses, fees, paperwork, etc.. I really dont know about any of that stuff. I want to learn but my eyes just glaze over when i try to do research. Would be nice if there was somebody qualified to explain all those things. I have lots of ideas its just hard to know what i should do or what is even possible. plus am still waiting on my county to decide what they want to do about the new rec laws

i'm sorry to hear that. got any leads yet? Like i said, I'm still waiting to see if my county changes anything. it's a shitty feeling.

its crazy how many growers across the country are willing to relocate vs. find a new crop to grow and stay where they are.
i'm sure some of the pot growers out here in the foothills will just switch back to growing meth
