Handsome boys Belgianfarmer :) how are the pollinated females doing ? Keep us updated if you have the chance!

That was fast @Theorganicguy ! Not a great yield, but pleased to know it also finished in August at your latitude. (y)

Hi all,

Out of all those of you who have grown beldia, is there any who has tested its drought resistance?

There is some kind of project which I am trying to carry out since few years ago, but I never got success with typical strains**. It is about dry farming. Actually I wasnt able to find a lot of information nor a diary regarding that but from what I read It seems feasible to grow some plants in Woods soil without having to water them. Addingly I Saw that this seems to be now a kind of a trend or marketing in California.

My idea is to first do an open pollinitation so to get seeds enough for the project. I would like to get some male pollen to pollinitate some another strains too.

Then, here is muy question. Which strain do you think would fit better for this purpose? I have been checking beldia, lebanese and beldiaXlebanon and all of them seem to have a good drought adaptability but I am not sure which one might perform better under drought conditions. As per my understanding, Beldia has suposedly been dry farmed in morocco in the past, but not sure If It was left to the weather or farmers were watering them at some point. Is there any other strain which you think Will perform Well in drought?

**Actually did once with an ACE mix pack where I was able to harvest one out of the five plants I grew in dry conditions (watered only twice in a whole season [April-October]). Did get only three to five grams but It took not a big effort. The rest got bigger (one of them was taller than a meter) but some of them got eaten and some other died from drying.

Thank you in advance,

Luiggi

Interesting, we have the same ambition. Judging by the name you are located in mediterannean, same conditions as me.
Been looking at the same strains as you to do open pollination to get seeds and plant next season real guerilla no manteinance.
In the end on a vacation on Malta i got some regular seeds hqndipcked in morocco from a growshop (dont now forsure if beldia).
The seeds were cheap so i’ll try and see.
There is a guy on youtube dry farming beldia.

I think the best way is to try with as many seeds as possible and see what performs best. Allso some albanian bagseed might do good, whatever was cultivated in mediterannean

Hi Luiggi Moroccan Beldia is well known (and Lebanese, but Moroccan even more) for its extreme resistance against heat and drought, and for performing very good in poor outdoor environments (lack of water, nutrients, space) where the modern indoor genetics would not survive. All this is well explained in the strain descriptions.

Glad to see you have one going there @early_hominid :D

Where in Morocco is Beldia from ? The Rif region ? Ketama ?

Hello Lebanizer, the surroundings areas of Issaguen (more known the toponym of Ketama), and Chefchaouen are crucial areas of the Beldia, that simply means “local”. But in reality this landrace is cultivated across many fertile valleys of northeast Morroco, the semi autoflowering traits and the preference of many locals users have facilitated it preservation in an area where afghan and pakistani modern hybrids are very prevalent too.

Hi,

Do you guys think the fem. Beldia is suitable for a window grow!? Would be nice if it is stretching not so much and yield good... My plan at first was to grow it outside some time but now i'm thinking to grow it at the window because it's my only left fem. seed from Ace.

I have good light here from morning and could also help with LED if needed so...
