MOONSHINE HAZE -Come Join the Shit Show

I am going to try to grow out some Moonshine Haze from seed. They are regular seeds and I had 9 of 11 make it to the seedling stage. I actually had 10 of 11 show tails but not sure why one of them didn't make it up through the soil.

I am going to try and sex and grow all 9 of these in a 36"x36"x52" grow space. Thats why I am calling this a shit show because it probably will be. I will be using a 36"x 36" screen with a total head height of 52" from the ground to max head height of the plant under the light. Can this be done ? Who knows.

I just turned to a 12/12 lighting schedule under a 600watt HPS. I already have one interesting pheno. If you look at the close up/s of the one pheno it looks completely different from the others.

I am open to any help I can get to making this pheno hunt a success. Currently my plans are to grow at 12/12 and eventually transplant into 1 gal containers. I will continue to grow at 12/12 until I can sex them. Once sexed i would transplant into 3 gal containers and switch to a 11/13 during flower.

Since it is a pheno hunt I will either need to take clones or reveg not sure what is the best way to attack this?

I swear this pheno with the weird leaves showing some variegation look like pics I have seen of plants showing HLVd. Probably a little early to be worrying about that.

Old seed? That happens with older seed stock in my experience. I have some 10 year seeds that do that if they germinate.

Bottom two in the middle and the single one in the middle that’s adjacent have the same problem, but these are the 10+ year old seeds.

Thanks for the feedback. Nice to know about older seeds. Thanks for dropping in.

Not saying thats what this is, but it is my understanding is HLVd can be transmitted via seed stock.
Here's what one company says (that makes their money testing samples so grains of salt must be carefully administered):

While no published studies exist in cannabis describing the frequency of seed transmission, HLVd does transmit through seeds in hop plants at a rate of around 8% (9). TUMI Genomics is currently conducting a research collaboration with the Agriculture department of Texas A&M to determine the percent seed transmission of HlVd in cannabis.

Personally I would be inclined to believe that it's just a plain old runt, that seed lots have been plentiful of since the dawn of times. They just got quickly overshadowed and ignored each spring. Until we started paying ten bucks a seed.

Or then, teething..

Then again, just the other day someone posted about all Widow seeds from some company testing positive?

I agree with goingrey.

I shouldn't have brought it up except I recently saw some pics of HLVd.

I am sure its a runt or just an odd deformity. The last thing I want to do is start spreading rumors about RareDankness seeds. Not what I am looking to do here at all.

Hell it may turn out to be the next big pheno found by ole hamstring. I will be charging $5K per cutting:pimp3:.

These plants were just transplanted into 1gal containers one day ago.
The plants have been above ground for 28 days and have 6 nodes. I turned them to 12/12 at day 14.

They have been in a 20oz Solo cup for 27 of these days. They were root bound and had to be watered every day. I was trying to keep them as small as possible because of my small grow space. Two of nine are showing sex.

This male is got nice set of cahonies for being 28days old. It has tight node spacing and large dark green leaves, As per Rare Dankness strain description. I think this male plant leans towards the Afghani side.

"The Amnesia Haze that mothers this hybrid came from the Soma seeds collection from the 2005-2009 series, which was a little more Afghani dominant. Still this gal reeks of Haze with a creative, productive high. Tropical fruit punch, pine sol, and haze."

Twenty eight days is real early . I have never breed anything, on purpose, I wonder if this pollen is wroth saving?

I told this was going to be a shit show.

I have 8 females and 1 male. I cant fucken believe this . How the hell am I going to grow 8 females in a 36 x 36 screen. This is so crazy, most of my 25 years of growing have been with seeds I have never had over 60% females ever. 8/9 females doesn't seem possible.

I dont have a clue what I am gong to do. I cant even fit 8 three gal bags in my grow area.

Here is my favorite pheno #4. This was the little freak when she first popped up. She has the alligator skin leaves and shows some variegated color in the leaves. I am very excited, for no real reason , about this one.

Pheno # 6 . It has these reverse taco leaves but only on the first node. Very strange and I dont think its a deficiency of any type as they are all in the same soil. We will see if it changes they have only been transplanted for 7 days.

Thanks for sharing.

Am still new to growing, had only a few runs so far.

Pheno #6 seems to have clawing leaves, doesn't that indicate excessive N?
I thought different phenotyps may require different nutrient concentration...
🤔

I'm sure thats true but this plant has had this even when in a 1 gal container full of Happy Frog which is very low in nutes and many people use it for seedlings. I'm not 100% sure but these are my thoughts.

Thanks for the reply and good luck in your growing.
