MOONSHINE HAZE -Come Join the Shit Show

I’m following. I popped some seeds from the notso dog/csi collaboration and one is showing some irregularities

My headband x Obama kush has the same issues. Discolored leaves and weird leathery dinosaur fan leaves. Growth is vigorous but odd is how I’d describe it. They aren’t as symmetrical as the other plants in the tent. I’ll try to get some pics or you can check my recent thread

I have some interesting smells too, sweet rather than the spicy haze smell.

I grew Moonshine before 7-8 years when it hit the scene.
It was great my best pheno was 84 days pheno that was like pineappleish neville haze...there was also never ending flower phenos that where very haze dominant and amnesia core cut like phenos.
Very similar to Mr.Nice hazes.
Grew 2 packs.

Ok time for a up date.

Group shot at 51 days at 12/12. All the pics except one are taken with the flash on.

There are five phenos of what I am calling Afghani leaning. The buds are tighter and distance between nodes is longer.

This pheno has the most resin. It is the reverse taco leaf pheno. Sweet rather than spicy haze smell. None of the phenos are loud smelling the smell comes from touching the buds.

There are also three phenos that are more haze dominate also.

Here we are at 62 days and just a quick up date. Everything looks good some of the more Afghani leaning phenos are looking very close. I think one of the main colas could come down now but I am waiting for 70 days to pull the early pheno/s.

The haze dominate phenos are the largest by far and even though I transplanted way to late the buds are the size of my hand.

One of the Afghani leaning phenos looked done but started throwing more pistils.

The little Freak pheno with the variegated leaves and alligator leaves is still getting its freak on. It has the longest pistils by far of any of the plants. They are at last 1/2" long. Still throwing variegated leaves too.

Day 70 ,the grow is getting more interesting as the plants are really starting to show their pheno characteristics.

I am harvesting the top cola off this first one today. The structure is all afghani to me. Its short, squat plant with very little stretch. No haze smell at all. The smell isn’t loud but is more like ripe fruit . I suck with smells but it reminds of the Kush smell when in its been in the jar for awhile.

The second pheno has the same short squat afghani plant structure but the bud structure is more haze like as well as the smell. The bud starting throwing new pistils around a week ago. You can see all the orange/brown pistils on the bud. This one is getting close to harvest also.

Moonshine Haze =Amnesia Haze X Neville’s Wrek.

Nevils Wrek=Arcata Trainwrek x Nevilles Haze.


So starts the hunt for the Trainwrek phenos.

The first one, I am calling the droopy pheno. I have it tied up or she with fall over. The descriptions I have read about Arcata Trainwrek was a droopy/floppy plant structure with tight buds. The other agreed upon trait was a lemony smell. This one smells like straight up haze.

The second is one of the 4 haze looking phenos. Huge main cola and 3 of the 4 smell spicy like haze but the pheno next to the black lighting controller smells like lemons. This is the one I have my money on for the more trainwrek dominate.

The last pheno, the freak, has the very long pistils. Haze smell but weird bud structure.

Smoke test on early pheno.

Just the top of the main cola was harvested. It was a little looser than I originally thought.

My wife (non-smoker) does the smell test for me. She said it was like fresh grass. I am 100% sure part of the issue is it dried in 4 days . Very low RH in the house due to bellow zero temps. If it was in a jar for a couple weeks the smell would come back.

Smoke Test-The only two things I am doing at first is taste & potency. If it comes down to a couple of good phenos then I will start being picky.


Volcano Vape Classic( set at 7.5) : Tatse-No discernible flavor on first bag. I personally thought it may have a afghan /kush flavor because of the smell. Again maybe a cure helps a little. Potency- If you have ever smoked from a dry herb vape you know the difference it delivers in potency. I did get a nice clean sativa high but it was very mild and low duration.

Joint-Taste-Still nothing discernible, but I actually thought it had more flavor while smoking a joint. I broke the bud by hand it had real nice bright green look and tight feel. Broke up real nice after I let it rehydrate in a bag. Potency-I had a real sneaky suspicion that it was going to be almost nonexistent high and I was correct. I did feel the effects for a very short time, less than a minute, while puffing.


On to the next 7 phenos. Its going to be a good 90+ days in my opinion on some of these plants
