Yeah, a dual hose AC will keep the room sealed. Kinda sucks only having a 15a to feed it...I'm guessing you're going with an extension cord like Raque suggested?

does the big room have a window? the best way to do this and i've done it many times is put ac in the window of the big room, run an extension cord to a different plug in that either has a bigger fuse or less things/watts plugged into it, run your duct from the ac into the closet with one hole then have your normal fan pulling out from the top out the door back into the normal big room, u just have to keep the big room locked so no one sees....if you can pull it off it's the ultimate way to go.

I was looking at the fireboy, for a 500sq feet extinguisher they want $600. Not bad I guess, but still expensive!

hmmm I guess If I have to go AC i will do the extension cord...

raque: might be expensive but id hate to have to explaint to the fire marshal and my insturance why I had so much lettuce growing in a closet in my house :)

ahhh thanks sandman!! the power drain is gonna suck!!!

dual hose draws outdoor air to cool compressor and exhaust outdoors. uses indoor air to output cold air into room.

cons: same air circulated within room - may cause dizziness/faintness if one stays in room too long or room is too crowded. outdoor (hot) air used to cool compressor means higher energy costs. manufacturers of dual-hose units even recommends/warns not using the 2nd duct (which draws air to cool compressor) when 90°f or higher outdoors – as it may cause compressor to overheat. ** note: temperature of most areas during the summer easily rises above 90°f. uses 2 fans/motors = higher energy consumption.

But if you're pulling AC'd house air into the compressor and just dumping the hot exhaust air back out into the house so that the central AC can take care of it, you'll be set.

I'd place it just inside the door of the closet and run both of the ducts through the door...with the intake side close to the bottom of the door and the hot air exhaust near the top to help prevent the intake from sucking in the hot air...which will make the unit more efficient.

Okay, just read the stuff a lil closer. I think you are making sacrafices in the wrong places... I would use your 1000 light you have now, don't buy a new light. And in a sealed room of that size I think the fuzzy logic co2 contoller is not necessary. I run a sealed room that's 12' x 4.5' x 7' and the overshoot of co2 is not much.. a few hundred ppm and it stays in the room which means it'll be longer before the co2 kicks on again.

Bottom line.. save the money from the new light and the fuzzy controller and have an electrician run another 15a circuit to the closet or close enough to the closet that you can run a short extention cord for the a/c. If you have to use an extn cord I'd make sure it's a 12 guage.

I think an 8" fan is a bit much for such a short run. It sounds like your total lenght of ducting will be short enough to run a 6" fan fine... The 6" will also make less noise.

Hello,

I would like to suggest a speed controller for the fan.

minds_I

edit:

also the use of a gfci gang box is not needed as the afci circuit breaker will trip with a ground fault also.

Actually most of the AFCI's are just that...you have to purchase an AFCI/GFCI breaker if you want both coverages...or just install a GFCI outlet as the first outlet in a run and all of the outlets piggy backed after it will be covered.

Hey, that Growtronix thing looks like an amazing environmental controller! DVD, care to give a brief product review? I'd be interested in hearing from folks who've used it.
