SG i dont c the post i made so let me try again. I am going to do a new build from the ground up. I would like to stay with half the area for flower. I do like an open work area. I do most of my work inside for stealth reasons. I would like to enclose the veg area. As far as the 8' ceilings, I'm down with that. I am in the middle of learning a valuable lesson in vegetative growth. I let 3 of the critical sensi star veg too long and now 30 days in they have grown waaaaay too big. B glad to harvest them. Things i wish i could have done better would be get rid of the hoods, improve the ventilation so i can introduce fresh air in a better way. I guess utilizing my lights more efficiently and have better air quality. This region is bad about mold so i want to control the environment. I am upgrading everything to accomodate new equipment and use my current stuff later. Hope this helps

More generally speaking... been lurking since you guys popped up. Interested to see how these genetics grow. Great strain names, too - fun.

Ill continue lurking just behind the glare of your hps'.

Well shit feel free to join in the conversation.... no reason to stay in the background....

any ideas yet G

I think ya missed his answer..... He's on the road, but I've been a carpenter for 20 years if you have a question.....

I'm leaving very soon.

Cutting/preveg table should be just that, a table.
Framed on 3 sides, with the front made as either a cabinet with doors, or just a pop in front, your choice.
Table top should be as high as needed to work standing up.
Shelves underneath for all your cups, pots and starter soil.
Dimensions of 2' deep x 4' wide x 3' tall will be excellent from cuts/seedlings up to 18" plants.
250wt CFL is fine.

Veg room
Should be 25% of flower room in sq ft.
Flower room is 160 sq ft.
So a 5' x 8' = 40 sq ft veg space is perfect.
Ceiling at 8' is optimal.

6-800wts of MH is fine.

Flower room is capable of handling up to 3000wts of MH-HPS mixed spectrum.
I would build 2' tall benches for plants if you are limited to a 12' ceiling.
I wouldn't go more than 9' tall if I had a choice, unless you are growing jungle weed..

I don't know if this is a new shed style room or if you're building in a shop(existing space)
Have to know before I can suggest a vented floor design.
Also need to know where the entrance/door is gonna be.

Hopefully I can have internet during my travels to help further.
If you can get me more info I'll do it tonight, before I go.

Like I said... upsize the veg space.... SG says 25% of flower... so
5'x8'x8'ceiling.... your drawing don't outline existing heat/water fixtures, or existing walls or doors... Draw what space you got a bit better... is this a wide open 20x12 space with no load bearing walls? a basement? are there stairs.... ect... exact dimensions aren't needed... I dont expect you to draw a blueprint... I just need a picture in my head of your space.... also, are you planning the vented floors SG style? proper design to avoid airflow restrictions in the subfloor is necessary.... I'm willing to help, but you gotta help me help you.... I need more details....

Im gonna work on it over the weekend. Ill post what i draw up. Really what i wanted was sub floor ideas and how / why they do what they do. I will do some searching n the info. Seems like u design subfloor to the buliding instead of other way. One works with the other. why?

there are 2 floors... the second is more of a ducting than a subfloor, however it must still distribute weight evenly... but room placement is a factor... you already have a floor, you need a way to direct air where you want it... fan type and strength are issue... will veg and flower need seperate fans pushing fresh air in? or can we situate the rooms to where one stronger fan has a straight "home run" and equal lateral lines.... if air is not distributed evenly, or strongly enough... or if one duct turns corners, that has to be accounted for or you negate the purpose of forced air flooring, because one or 2 vents will blow... and the rest will barely have air moving at all... I've done some HVAC...

What we need to know...

What's there that's in the way/immobile (stairs, heater, etc)

Where existing doors are or where you plan them to be.

Existing electrical placement would be helpful...

First, we need to sort Veg and Flower room placement and door swings(which way they open)... then see where we can draw fresh air.. and then we design a subfloor that flows air to all corners evenly...

I gotcha. Info is valuable. Sometimes i get frustrated when i don't understand the all the pieces. I know what i want based on past rooms/building. Each time it gets a lil better bc i learn a lil more of what my style of grow requires. I like to control my environment. Not sure but that seems to need a sealed unit. I li positive air pressure. The building i have now currently is a neg pressure and i dont like it. Too many variables to contend with. I like fresh air when i want it. I use CO2 but i like fresh air also. I want to get rid of the hoods and add more with mixed spectrum capabilities. The veg area i would li to have that seperated and ha ve a place to grow males. Having individual rooms is more comfortable for me. One floor vent in veg rms, four in flower room and two in the work area. I will have 100 amps to split up. Btw here is my gq and dd

Hey fellas :)

Man what an adventure so far.
My main problem is Internet availability.
Have a moble hot spot, but can get good enough coverage long enough to post a message.
Rain and snow most of the way so far.
Need to go further south to get some sun :)

To Buzzed:

I'll get a drawing up for your new building.
I would suggest a single layered floor with ducting running parallel in floor joists.
Connect them to a single large supply duct beneath joists.
Your temps are more stable(coldwise)
To avoid rampant bug attacks, run supply duct into your work space.
Also have the ability to use your work space as a lung room for AC air pre-mixing.
Large squirrel cage fan will supply air to spaces directly.
A hole framed into floor the size of standard furnace filters can provide limitless filtered air flow, with out bug intrusion.

I don't have paper for sketching at this time, but will fairly soon.

Everything's cool, but still an adventure.

I had one idea, if you turn things a bit....

The air would run along the blue lines....

and the framing might look something like this.... green is vent space

room3.jpg

something to look at while you plan anyhow....

sounds like we were thinkin right along the same lines.... LOL

See anything worthwhile yet?

“When we get out of the glass bottle of our ego and when we escape like the squirrels in the cage of our personality and get into the forest again, we shall shiver with cold and fright. But things will happen to us so that we don’t know ourselves. Cool, unlying life will rush in.” – D. H. Lawrence
