Mini Fridge Grow

ScrubNinja: Yo, Check it. I roll deep wit my limo tint sump, instead of clear. If the color of the sump is what you are speaking of, den its the limo tint, not the water. LordAmErcy!

If that is not the case, the nutes have a slight tint, but other than that, the color of the water is clear when you pour it out, but because of the black background, it makes it look really dark.

Thank you for the Qs and keep em comin yall!

They will be tall enough soon to install the scrog screen. The fridge runs +-1 degree of ambient temp and everything is stable, with no lungs or kidneys of any kind. Sorry for the bad pictures, still working out the kinks of my new camera. If you have any comments or questions, let me know... Yes, even you lurkers.

Hope this isn't a dumb question - Is that how far away the bulbs are all the time, or just for the photo? That must be about a foot? I thought they had to be closer by this stage?

I can see the growth recently, I think they're gonna explode in a very impressive manner :D

Good show Melkor420.

I used to work at an appliance place and people would illegally drop off there old appliances in the back, this makes me want to go back and check to convert something myself. Big 48" double oven would be an awesome veg/flower chamber.

Q&A

Q&A

ExpertSetup: At the rate that they are growing now, with is only running with 1/8 strength of nutes, is not as fast as they will be growing. I can not give you a time frame, because I have never grown this way before, as far as indoors. I am going to change the solution of nutes to 1/2 and change the lighting to 18/6. Once I do this, the growth rate should double again. They are about an inch below where the scrog screen will be placed right now. I am putting the screen in when they get 1-2 inches above where it will be, so it will smash em a little and hopefully auto scrog the fims for me. In answer to your question, As soon as the scrog is completely full I will be switching to 12-12. I could be wrong about my methods, but I am going for it full bore.

Cheesebuds:
1. How old are they? My plants are about a month old.
2. The reason for the Bonsai-ish look, is because I have fimmed them. My method for doing this has always been to let the plants get 4 main sets of water leaves, then lopping the entire top of the plant off. To go one step further, in the mindset of "micro", I double fimmed the main Mary Purpins Lady (front center). She has 12 or so main stalks instead of 1. This has always given me more weight, and less necessary vertical clearance. My reasoning for this is, at least in outdoor organic(which is how I have always grown before this), that the plants maintain a much stumpier quality, while producing more ammounts of flowers. In other words, I have transformed them from tall weeds into short bushes. So to answer, they look small, because they are small. Normally, without topping the plants, they would be about 2-3 times higher than they are now.

ScrubNinja: My man! I don't believe in dumb questions personally. This question is actually pretty good! The plants do look like they are far from the light. They are about 9-12 inches from the base of the light tubes themselves. I have heard a lot about people needing to have the plants closer to the lights. Again, I am not accustomed to growing in this condition, Indoor Hydro DWC is something Very new for me. I have been watching the girls very carefully, and I have noticed that even though the distance between the plants and the lights is large, the plants are still doing very well. This may be one of the major differences between PL-L style tube lights, and CFLs. It could also be that because the inner walls of the fridge were designed to refract light that it is actually getting more light further down than usual. However, I think that the answer is simple. I use PL-L lights in my reef tank, and they grow coral at the bottom of 36 inches of water, which is pretty outstanding, that is why I went with them for my grow. I also noticed that they create a rippled light effect on the reef tanks that are 12-24 inches deep. This is something that only a halide will do in a reef tank normally. That information combined with the fact that the plants are growing fast, and the leavs are almost the thickness of cabbage, I think that as they grow to the height of the scrog, they will want to grow even more, and when they go 12/12, they will go boom boom boom. you know! Again, I could be wrong, but I am trying a bit of minimalizm with this projects 1st run.

UnknownProphet: Thank you much man! I don't know about ovens, but fridges, or lay down freezers would probably be the best approach. If you check out some of freezerboys posts, he has some Bad Ass projects that turn out! There are a couple other guys with mini fridges on here as well. But I would sure be curious how an oven would work out!?! Maybe you should get one and try it so we can all see the amazing 48" oven concept!

Thank you all for your continued support and keep the questions coming. If I failed to answer anyones questions proficiently, let me know, cuz I'm High as a MoFo right now. It is your questions that make me push my reasoning outside the box of conventionalism, wich is the only way to progress in my opinion.:smoweed:, and mush:respect: to all of you guys! EVEN THE LURKERS!

Some of those internode distances look tight as fuck! I'm amazed and really looking forward to using these lights even more than I was before. :D A lot of people would've given up after the body organs thing...glad you stuck it out.

Thank you ScrubNinja. I believe that the antique plastic that my old sump was had chems in it that made those things grow. I mean it was a 30-40 year old container that I am sure had rotting something in it at one point or another. Building a new one out of Plexi was a great idea. I like these lights too. I am not sure on weather I will add more or not.
What do you guys think?

OldTimers: Thank you for noticing that she is still going. I am sure that she will do better this time, as everything is still going fine without the snot trails, and alien donor lungs growing in my sump!

JayToker: Thank you for your kind words. This one will be here for more than one complete cycle, so once it works... I am hoping it will be glorious!

Kaotic: Mary Purpins, she is a true miracle. I had a Purple Urple Seed that was very large and veiny and purple. I cut down the middle with a scalple bisecting it. After carefully removing the shell, I collected one of my incredible purple bag seeds that I have been collecting over the years, and did the same thing with the bag seed. Then I took half of the bag seed core and half of the Purple Urple core and put them togeather, and superglued the PurpleUrple shell back onto the seed cores. Keep in mind, I have tried to do this hundreds of times in the past with no success. This was the only time that a plant has ever grown from this activity, at least in my realm. I germed her and once I saw a bit of root coming out, I removed the shell again to find that the two halvs had actually melded togeathre and were producing the root togeather. So there is her life story.

You have done something that NOone in the Canna world has EVER dun B4?
And U didn't take a single pic?

Proof of this would elevate You to GOD like status among MJ Breeders

RE: Miracle Seed Graft

RE: Miracle Seed Graft

DrBudGreengenes: Thank you, sir for being the only one to ask that question. First, though, I would like to say, that I am not in need of extra attention, I do know that I have never heard of it (with MJ) being done either. I was playing with some seeds over a year ago, and I took 5 of my PurpleUrple seeds and 5 of some other various Chron bag seeds. I bisected each seed, and put them back togeather again. She then grew organic in soil outside, and became a beautiful mother with really dense purple-green flowers. It got to be the wrong season to be outside and I put her in a closet in my house, because I was unable to properly ventilate it, She was starting in on her own demise. Then a light fixture fell on her, and broke her in half. I gave it to a buddy who has a lot of expertise in growing hydro, and he saved her, and gave her back to me. I accidentaly broke her in half when I got her back(light fell again) and Aerohead helped me save her again. The three clones we made from the dying mother now carry the strain. Now I took more clones off the mothers to start this project and others. I didn't think it would work the first time, but my goal was to figure out how it could be done. I have detailed knowledge of plants in general and I have seen similar methods of doing it. It also happens, that I did this long before I ever heard of this very educational site. In order to appease anyone who is wondering how it was done, I will be putting some pictures togeather of how i did it. Maybe it'll happen again, who knows. However, Aerohead and I were playing a new game we made up. We were trying to see who could light the propane grill with a thrown match stick of the package. "Match Flicking". I did it first try, and then no one has been able to do it since. I will do my best in this matter to do you all proud. Stay tuned.

ScrubNinja: Your telling me. Sometimes I have really blind luck.

FreezerBoy: Check the following fim trim pics, The dragon made a deal with me that if I did a fim trim and gave him a better cave he would guard the sacred plants of Hydro-Ville.

#1cheesebuds: Thank you it's always nice to hear the propers.

Aerohead: Thanks to you for all your help in this and my other projects. Word homie.

Expertsetup:Thank you for noticing. I have become immersed in this project. I hope you like the new pics of the FIM TRIM>>>:

P.S. Take notice of how many Main stalks I am producing by this method. This is how I have grown Organic Outdoor Soil for about 15 years with great success, If only I had been around to show you all of those beautys.
