Michigan vs Maine: where'd you rather grow and live?

Michigan is a great place to live, but just like everywhere else it has good and bad areas, you dont have to be a rocket scientist to realize this.

As far as 12 plants goes, thats for one patient. If you are a caregiver you can have up to five patients = 72 plants.

I can drive an hour or less from any city and make it to a great beach on a great lake, and the micro brew scene is one of the top in the country.

Kuhnhenn FTW.

My friend just bought some "beach" property on Lake Michigan near St. Joseph. He is from Spain and is very excited about his boating opportunities, and his wife is excited about swimming.

I guess I'm going to avoid being a dick and letting him know that he'll have about 80 days a year, maybe 90, where the weather is acceptable for said activities.

Michigan is better for now because you can deal with the dispensaries as a new guy in town no problem. In Maine I'd imagine it's much harder to break in.

But if you're confident in your social skills and your ability to break in, in my opinion Maine has a longer shelf-life for a career grower. Michigan is an isolated market with no money anywhere near it short Chicago. Maine has an absolutely enormous market to its direct south with no immediately plans to legalize. Therefore the prospects look better long term for Maine growers in my opinion. Once the market floods in Michigan ala Norcal, prices will go down and stay down because there are very few surrounding markets.

such a mix of opinions!

My friends down south are having their doors kicked in by feds one by one. Whoever said laws are meant to be broken have obviously not spent too much time in jail or federal lockup.

So what about Michigan? Is it good for the people who just want to make a standard living from the MMJ scene? Not trying to become a kingpin, but is it possible to help REAL patients and walk away with a couple hundred grand in the pocket after a few years hard work?

Man...ever since i went to one of those maine vocals festivals ive been itchin' to make the move up there! People are very chill in ME. The only real problem is that everyone likes the redsox!

And what do you guys mean when you say that the natives will spot an outsider whos going commercial?? You must mean a populated area and indoor growing?. If your really going to go big wouldnt you move to the middle of no-where deep in the woods, and keep to yourself, tell no-one, have very few if any friends?? Yes it would suck to be a hermit for an extended period of time, but in my opinion it would be the safest and most effective way (assuming you already have a good connect out of state)

I am very understanding at how people are in small area's, everyone wants to know stuff about eachother, small towns are not like big citys where ya walk by someone and dont even make eye contact... Im not from maine, but i live in a very tiny area and i think if someone is from a similar small town woodsy setting it would be no problem to blend right in. You just gotta know how to "not look the part", and how to introduce yourself properly! Keep a short haircut, clean shaven, wear glasses and a collared t-shirt! If anyone ever asks, say you work from home on your computer, phone, etc...

Go to ME, northeast is where its at!

ahhh I'm so excited !!

The cold weather sucks sometimes but I like having the season changes here.

Was planning a move to Cali because it is so beautiful there and it has been a dream of mine, but perhaps I will just save some serious $ and wait till some other states go MMJ friendly.

Now if Florida had better laws.......sigh :)

Depends on what your definition is of a "big city." Maine's biggest is Portland at population 61,000 +/- and you can still find affordable acreage in the greater metropolitan area (population 500,000 +/-). I'd say its hard to buy something not near a lake or a river...
