MG or Pot. deficiency?

new pix

I took these pix this AM of the little boy..
Pix 1 was taken with just a flash to show the "true" color of him, while the rest are of new growth from the bottom section upwards.

This afternoon, I'll drain off about 2/3 of the nutrient solution and fill with pH balanced water. I think for now that I'll continue the constant drip and see what happens.

Thanks again all!

True color of the plant

Bottom new growth

Middle new growth

Top new growth.

I love this stuff almost as much as smoking the finished product!
It's like a science project back in school, and I did so love Biology..

Loks very healthy Tom!!! Really a unique looking plant.....

And when you say "boy" do you mean "girl," right? Just checking....:)

Hey Tom, that is looking better. The overall shot of the plant still shows she is a little dull and droopy, and no doubt she is, but that new growth looks good and is the result of your plant putting down some hydro roots to deal with your tub. These girls are very hardy, adaptable and forgiving, they are a weed and do grow like one! If it does not pick up, you must back off the drip frequency. We can see how she is from the pix.

I can see the tip burn on some of the leaves, do you see? A few millimeters of brown burnt on the tips? That is the sign to look for of a good feeding regime. When the spots and blotches start, you are too strong. I think you will see good improvement with the weak solution over the next couple days.

I agree with you, the design and execution is as much fun as the smoking. It is so cool when you grasp all the factors to make your girls the best they can be. I loved biology, science, hort etc and always had plants and gardens, now alot of that directly applies to MJ, and what I learned about MJ directly applies to conventional crops, improving my skillz at both!

Your question before about how do they grow without ferts? Well they need some, but far less than you think. It depends on stage of growth, like people, obviously the baby will not finish the roast beef dinner that father has seconds of......Small plants, lower lighting, high temps and such determine how much to feed (less). As the plant grows, it needs more nutrients, so you give more. When you switch to flowering, you back off the N and up the P. Little at first, then increasing dosage after the first couple weeks, when they really take off. With 4 weeks left there should be no N given anymore, don't worry that your fan leaves are yellowing, that's normal, and two weeks from finish, nothing but plain ph'd water to flush out unused ferts from plants. This flush is critical to the quality and burn of your smoke. Take extensive notes, watering schedules, nutrient regimes, condition of plants, temps, etc and it will all help you in the future to give you reference material to look back on.

BTW, great genetics can be had for not a huge price and price tag does not determine quality. Nirvana, Dr Atomic, Joey Weed, and Chimera and such have a great selection at good prices. Atomic Haze X Northern Lights might be right up your alley. The NL gives it some stone, brings down the size and finish time of the haze. It is so worth spending $50-$100 for what you want, after you see how much time, attention, and materials you use for a crop. Your bagseed might be great, but it also could be something with some sativa that is better outdoors, or it could just suck and be hermie. Just because the momma plant was killer does not mean the bagseed from her is. Who knows who even pollinated her. Maybe she hermied and did herself, which would lead to hermie prone offspring. With breeder seeds you are getting tested, stable genetics, and supporting the cause! I fully recommend it.

Take it easy and we will be following along to make sure all is well!

Thanks all!
Yup, the little one IS looking better...
I just drained off about 2/3 of the solution and replaced it with 5.6pH straight water. The ppm's are still around 1300, but it's better than the 1800 I had before.
I think I'll give it a few days and do it again.

Yup, it's a strange looking little plant.. I guess I bent it over before it was time, but as you can see in the one picture, it's good I guess given the amount of grow space I have behind the closet door.
As to "guy" vs. "girl", after I transplanted "it" to the hydro system, I noted some male pods after a week or so, and began to remove as many as I could get my hands on.
Now, I'm not so sure WHAT "it" is.. no more seed pods, and as you can see, it DOES look like a female. Curious!

I am thinking of adding another 5600 150w CFL hanging horizontally in order to get light to the underside of the pup. What do you think? Is it worth it at this point?
If so, I'm guessing that changing it out to a 2400 150w CFL with the top one at flowering time will be good as well..

HeadyPete:
I see what you mean about the tip burn. Excellent!
For ferts, I've been using the Dutch Master Advanced a/b system as a good start, and will change in the future to individual nutients.
I'm not sure how the little guy will react to mixing a 50/50 solution of the growth/flowering formulas when I start to flower.. the directions say to just switch, but it makes more sense to combine the two for a couple of weeks, then go to the straight "flowering" solution.
Per previous notes, I'll watch the micronutrients as we go along.

As to the seed I'm going to invest in next time, of the ones you mentioned which would be approx 70/30 Sativa/Indica?
We're partial to a "head high" bordering on psychadelic / religious if you know what I mean..
I don't mind spending bux for good seed stock, and as to time and science well, you can see that I don't mind spending time on either.
For us it's personal, not professional so shorter grow times are not a factor. Heh heh - we always smoked minute quantities anyway, and since we got the vaporizer, it's reduced moreso.
Great invention that vaportizer.. I tried it years ago with just a wooden pipe and a "heat pen" that I got from Radio Shack, but it was hard to judge how hot it should get, etc.
With the vaporizer, we just look at the chamber and draw very slowly for a killer hit.

BTW, can anyone recommend a seed bank that's easy to work with and ships to the US? I've drawn some conclusions about some, but personal experience from those who have dealt with them is invaluable, and appreciated!

Well I am not the sativa expert, but any of those 3 (Kali Mist, Flo, Atomic Haze X NL) should give you what you are looking for.
