RKS Female #1

The clones

The tall one will be going in to flower this week for run #2.
Clones grow much quicker then their seed plant mothers.

RKS #1 grows some very large preflowers in veg, I almost thought it was auto flowering but I don't think it is.

RKS#1 in full bloom Day 43 12/12
Has a sweet candy smell
This one accidentally got a little burned, I was a day late watering while I was sick and I think the peat got dried out and had a pH malfunction.
This is my first time using such a peat heavy mix, I have read it can be tricky.
This female is sticky as hell, and looks like it will yield well.
Currently under 600w HPS because of its short stature.
This one is very stinky in veg, but so far that smell doesn't transfer into flower
I've had some issues recently got them ironed out now second run I will do better.

RKS#1 close up, this shit is sticky like glue.

RKS Female #2

RKS #2
I have been defoliating it each week to help light penetration
It has a typical kush like profile (real kiush i.e Hindu)
It actually kind of reminds me of hindu kush's I have grown in the past.
It has a sweet candy smell so far

RKS Female #3

Day 14 12/12

Not much to say so far. This one was a little more finicky in veg, and the slowest grower. Seems to be doing alright now.

RKS Female #4

This one got thrown into flower this week. Very healthy so far, I reduced my nutrient load in the soil for this one. I think the abundance of nutrients in my soil has been contributing to some small issues I've been having recently.

Wow wow wow hiding that number 1 pheno is sick looking!! So is the other looking really nice my friend.. So none of them have that roadkill smell to them? Either way they are stacking some nice ass buds good work there brother.. I can't wait until mine hit that stage I wasn't gonna clone any of mine except for my standout one but now I think I will after seeing your gems. Nice work and I guess they aren't gonna finish by medmans finish date which was stated at 45 to I think 50 days but then again medman grows hydro so figure soil should probably be about ten days later probably a 60 day strain. Nice job hiding they look great!!

Hey thanks for the kind words Mike.

So far I am just getting sweet candy smells. Despite not smelling like skunk they are definitely worth a second run.
Especially pheno #1, it is incredibly sticky, and it smells nice.

Too early to tell on the other 2 what they will smell like. These smell very different in veg then in flower. In veg I would have swore #1 would be a super stinker as it smelled the most skunky, but totaly changed in flower.

I'd say 70 days or so on the flowering time. I have grown a lot of different strains and pretty much everything I have grown has gone 70-77 minimum.

I've cloned them all just in case I find something skunky.

That is also funny that number 1 is your keeper pheno because number 1 is my keeper pheno also. The other 2 I have I don't really care about I mean they are ok but my number 1 is just a standout out of the group. The other ones are just picky and don't like anything I do to them so don't think I'll wanna run those picky bitches again unless they are special when finished. Well my number 1 pheno is a stinker also I'll take her out the tent tomorrow for her own photo shoot. She is only 2 weeks into flower and still stinks and reaks I hope she doesn't change but its to early to tell right now could change in flower like yours did. Peace mike

Oddly enough my #1 male was also my most stand out male.

If none of these start stinking I probably won't keep any of them. I already have OG Kush and Sour Diesel so you have to stink pretty F'in hard for me to keep one over them.

Review:

Ok so been a while, everything is in flower now under a 600HPS.
Clones of all females have been rooted and saved til after the dry an cure.

Female #1

I first apologize for this one being a bit ugly my new soil mix was a bit too strong and it caused a few issues.

A true testament to the genetics however the buds still look great and they are really pumping out the resin.

Probably about 10 more days to go on this one.

This female reminds me of old school dutch skunk and looks a lot like the picture used in dutch passions "the pure" description especially with it's squared off top.

Smell is hard to describe at this point, it's not like skunk and it's not quite sweet.

I don't know if this female will be used for another run, it looks nice but the clones I had in veg started autoflowering and I really don't have the space to dedicate to plants that will require more work in veg.

CONTINUED

FEMALE 2

This female is easier to grow than #1. This one too has a weird smell don't really know how to put it in to words.

This one has about 10-14 days left to go.

It has started sprouting a few late flowering nanners but I think it is just because it is finishing up, I don't think they will produce any pollen.

Yield is really low, many small buds but they are very resinous and very dense.

The clones of this female are not autoflowering, they are veging out very nicely.

This one was right under the lamp, but becaue yield looks so low I moved it much closer to the bulb.

Continued

Female #3

This female was the smallest one going in to flower, and it was a tad unhealthy but it has rebounded nicely.

This female does not smell like skunk yet....but it does have a smell I am equally interested in.

When I pulled this plant out of the grow area, I got smacked with straight up pine. It is dead on pine, and I hope it stays that way.

Pine is a terpene profile I have been looking for for years and I am really excited about this one and hope it keeps a pine smell and taste.

Female #4

This one so far looks like the keeper of pack. It has stretched the most out of anyone once flowering was induced.

It has a different smell then all of the rest of them, it's too early to say too much but out of all of them I believe this one has the most potential to throw a skunky smell. It gives me that nose burning sensation, smell is very hard to describe but I have a good vibe.

This plant has been defoliated quite a bit to let more light in to the interiors of the plant.

Great looking plants hiding! They look really nice all three of my phenos are shooting three blade leaves and are shabby and leafy looking kinda like your plant #1 swell really sweet but smells good and sticky. I just don't like how leafy my plants turned. Nice updates they look killer you got some good looking phenos. I wish I got a pine smelling phenos I haven't smelled pine smelling smoke since the last time I had sensi star well atleast that's what I was told it was. I really remember pine smelling weed that i got years ago and it was some Mexican weed not that cheap dirt brick compressed shit I mean it came in a block but came apart all nugs nice loosely compressed. I miss those old days of killer mexi weed when you could find it. Peace mike

Hey hiding

Sweet pics man

That burning one may be her. U will know when's she is cured. Wired about the other ones being sweet. Think the red and hairy is due to the hotter medium?

I am doing more rks as we speak. All the reefers look afghani. I also notice that the keeper leafs look identical to my silver skunk mom. I don't see it in either of the plants posted. They are there. I will post some shots of what I mean when I am back in the office

Peace

Im not sure but I would have to pin any problems on the medium either that or a few weeks back when I was sick I couldn't get in to water on time and the pots got very dry, that's about when most of the burning occurred. This is my first time using such a peat heavy mix and I know it can cause problems when too wet or too dry.

I freshened my soil mix at the beginning of this grow with new peat and I might have been going a little heavy on the amendments aswell.

A lot of the plants I had go in on that batch got fucked up but the skunk faired the best. I have since cut back on what gets put in when the soil gets recycled.

The last 2 skunks to go in are in a much lighter amendment mix.

This summer has been so awful for me with water problems which in turn gave me really low yields, I am just so happy that the bud quality is getting better. I've been growing for almost a decade and this summer had me on the verge of quitting. Got everything straightened out now what a relief.

The smells are weird, I don't really want to say too much until everything is dried and cured because sometimes things can change but at this point right now they are not that stinky kind of odor.

I will most likely run #2, #3, and #4 a second time so we will see the difference with all the new modifications.

You were doing your own skunk test grow, do you have anything throwing RKS stink?

Hey Mike, my recommendation for your really leafy ones is to defoliate them. These plants fit the true kush profile and yields suck with plants like these unless you take most of the leaves off.

I run Pre 98 Bubba quite a bit and it's the same way, yield sucks if you don't take the leaves off.

Here is a pic of a Bubba I defoliated throughout the grow and you can see yield is pretty good. Just took this one down last week, best yield I've ever pulled from Bubba.

And yes pine weed is something special in its own right. I got a bag 6 or 7 years ago of some local outdoors, that shit was straight up pine like puffing on a pine cone. I will never forget it and have never found anything like it since. That plant excited me about as much as finding an RKS pheno lol.

That plant is super piney right now, as soon as I pulled it out of the odor controlled area that's all I could smell.

I hear ya about the good Mexi weed. I don't buy weed anymore but when I did I used to get true skunk smells sometimes when I would buy mexican mids. I wasn't a grower then so I never thought to keep any of the seeds.

Wow that bubba really did put out some bud nice I'll have to attack my plants today. Mine looked so indica Dom before flower now it seems they all went sativish on me. Wierd thing to me is that they barely STRECHED in flower which surprised me alot. All my other plants are about 6" taller than the rks is. Yesterday I pulled out my scraggly looking rks that hasn't liked me since day one I checked the ppm of run off and it was at 1240 ppm which isn't to bad I am just gonna feed it less and see what happens. I also feel that these plants don't like coco much because of the excessive watering you have to do with coco. I didn't take any cuts of mine because I don't plan to run them again. I do have one that has a skunky odor so if it winds up being the one I'll reveg it and keep as a momma plant. Well other than that I'll just wait until med-man works the line more than I'll try them again. I can say though the smells coming off of everyone of mine do smell good in there own right.

I really can't blame anything on anyone but myself also I made a rookie mistake and trusted a coco label saying it was pre-rinsed and I slowly found out that wasn't the case and I suspect most of my issues was do to ph being out of whack at one point I checked the ph of run off and it was 6.7 so I have been flushing the hell out of the coco now with base nutes, cal/mag, sensizyme and 5.8 ph water to bring it in range. I will update my thread as soon as plants recover. Peace mike
