this depends most on the strain, the environment, the grow style and the grower. There is no "right" answer. Most often, sativas are grown big and long, and indicas are grown fast and short.

Find what method you like the best, and you'll get the best results. No method is awesome if you don't like (or am too lazy for) the process. Just remember, more plants = more humidity, more water, more work, and a higher potential for problems.

does this not assume that you don't have a separate veg area? with a veg area much of the advantage of SOG goes out the window. Everyone claims SOG produces the best but I wonder if the is more apparent than factual. I have not seen any SOG growers claim 1.5g/w but I have seen tree/bush growers achieve this and if you have a veg area then you have no down time.
Yeah but a SOGer will just come back with "yeah but I'm going to use that area you're using for veg to flower another SOG," hehe. I don't know myself cuz I've never tried SOG but the argument makes sense.

Again it depends. If you are growing Diesel/Cherry Hash in a sog say 49 plants and flip them right away you'll get a crop in every 6-8 weeks and I know people who can pull close to 2lb per light with Diesel or Cherry hash. With big plants yes you'll get more weight but you're gonna be at 13/14 weeks for the full crop, in that time someone with a sog would be finishing a second crop.

It all comes down to if you have the space to dedicate for perpetual veg. And I suppose what you're growing for.

HANDS DOWN, trained and pruned trees for the win. MUCH better quality and slightly higher but statistically significant quantity.
Blooming time is all about the varieties used and understanding how to manipulate them with light and to a lesser but still important degree, other environmental factors. I have run varieties that are ready in under 2 months with both growing styles. Difference being ~10%-15% higher yield/sqft with trees and ~18%-20% higher THC/CBD/CBG/CBC/linalool/myrcene/limonene/pinene when tested. That quality bump is a huge difference and a huge deal if you're producing medicine.

Now, if you're cycling out without the dedicated veg space, sure in the long run the SOG will outperform because you can squeeze in the few extra runs - DUH! But if you've got a well planned veg room filled with ladies itching to jump in the sack with a well planned and well timed system - you'll soon realize SOG is dead and might as well have never lived.

And you'll have the time to realize and appreciate it 'cus you're not running ragged toiling over thousands of plants instead of hundreds ;)
