One Love 731,

Must respectfully disagree.

IMHO it is our responsibility to decide who is good and bad and not support the bad.

Being a big grower doesn't make you a thug. A willingness to kill someone over herb and engaging in hard core violence to support your business, does make someone a thug. Giving your money to thugs just breeds more of the same.

One of the reasons a lot of conscious people stopped doing coke. The money supports a scene filled with violence and death.

The early "Mr. Nice" days of the trade were a lot of fun and games then the cocaine and organized crime guys took over the scene. That's when a lot of us started growing our own.

Boils down to ethical investment and taking responsibility for what your cash produces whether it is sweatshops in Asia or cocaine murders in the inner cities.

I don't think defending your property makes you a thug. Do I think you should execute rippers or people trespassing on your property? No. Do I have a problem having a ripper break his ankle in a wolf trap while he is trying to take my property(crop) off of my land? No.

this thread should have a little note about propoganda in the heading...
it's organized crime grows with the guns and shit that gives growing a bad name. There will be a commercial now with some crap about guns and a joint. I DO remember that REALLY cool commercial where the kids were like "want to play with my dad's gun?" lol

and cyberwax, wtf r u talkiing about dude???? obviously growing on someone elses land is stupid. im assuming this is PRIVATE PROPERTY. therefore, no one WILL be "wandering around with there little kids" as you would like to put it, on this land. therefore, the only people that would potentially be on your PRIVATE PROP, would be rippers. and those fucks deserve whats coming to them for being theives!!!! get this point through your head!

your trying to defend the rippers!?, this isnt about the christian johnson family going on a nature walk with there toddlers! from your standpoint id say youve probably ripped a couple fields yourself!

If i should judge you on the basis of your post and how easily you assume a role for me; giving the family a "christian" look and a strole just to make my statements stupid; then i should probably just avoid your silly post(s). And let me be clear and make you understand that i have gotten the point through my head; stealing is bad, thiefs of crops are very bad, but killing someone is not an option and in no way gonna help your case. Try to get that through your head the next time your fashioning traps, make em less deadly or replace them with security cameras and be smart, for once.

But shall i type it down once more, you have problems understanding that i do no endorse traps and what more harm they can do than good? And no man, i have never even seen a field as its not common around here.

No offence dude.

Bill C-15 is now before the Senate Justice Committee in Parliament. It is expected to pass, the only question is whether the Senate will attempt to amend the Bill. My bet is, the Committee will recommend amendments but the Senate won't approve those amendments, and this will pass in January 2010, if not earlier.

Bill C-15 seeks to impose mandatory custodial sentences on growers of marijuana of just five plants of at least six months, and upwards of 21 months if other factors are present. Those factors are common and are typically encountered by growers here on ICM when they are growing for simple personal use.

Please note, five plants is the MINIMUM number of plants Health Canada approves a federal MMJ exemptee for. Their average approval for a personal production license is 15 plants. But this Bill makes growing five plants a mandatory sentence, with several other "aggravating factors" increasing that sentence. The so called aggravating factors are of the type that most growers on ICMag would routinely trigger.

The mandatory provisions require the person be proved to be growing in connection with trafficking, but they'll charge you with that at the drop of a hat under these sentencing provisions. You then face the choice of entering into a plea bargain, or if they prove trafficking:

1) six months if you are caught with five plants;
2) nine months if there is a child in the house (one plant+);
3) nine months if its rented accomodations (one plant+);
4) nine months if there is an elvated risk to health, safety or security presented by the grow (one plant +);
5) an additional year if they catch you with hash making equipment.
6) an additional year if they can connect your grow to "organized crime" - whatever the hell that means.

To be blunt, when Bill C-15 passes, bubble bags, a hash press or BHO making in Canada is about to be EXTREMELY stupid. That alone will earn you an extra year in jail, MANDATORY. I'm just waiting for the cops to say a little kief catcher screen in the bottom of a hand grinder is "evidence of hash making". Don't you think they won't. That has me genuinely worried for the liberty of thousands of hobby growers in Canada. No - I am not being alarmist.

It's a no first offence, no excuses Bill. You are found guilty, you could end up in Federal pound-me-in-the-ass prison by the time the rest of these factors come into play. Put simply, if you keep a scale at home and are not a federal MMJ exemptee, you are an idiot after C-15 passes.

It's insane. And 72% of Canadians support this Bill, as it has been sold in the media as an anti-gang "tough on crime" legislation. Nobody has ever challenged it as an attack on average Canadians. The marijuana movement has been asleep at the wheel on this one, really. Public education efforts regarding this Bill have been demonstrably ineffective.

Wow, this is REALLY bad. And the worst thing is that they're passing it off as a "tough on crime" bill as you call it, because the people who will suffer from this are your average joe private growers... Let's hope this won't pass, else I'm really sorry for all the Canadian smokers and growers!
