Maria's Subtropical Outdoor Guerilla Grows with Connoisseur Genetics (Perpetual Journal)

I made a visit today, as I won't be around this weekend.
Thought I'd need to water, but they didn't need much.
Lower temps and late flowering mean the water needs are so much less.

I bagged up the SSSTN, Sticky pheno, it's nicely dried.
And also bagged the Grail girl colas, ended up shucking them, haha!
Took them to my other location, not home.
I stuffed four sealable glass containers, two of SSSTN, two of the Grail.
Then stashed that in the forest, half buried.
It'll keep nicely there over the winter, let it cure a bit.
Otherwise the amount of flower at my location is getting high.
Spread the risk, is the thinking here.
Those four glass containers are packed.

I will cut the SSSTN Fluffy pheno next.
She's got two big colas, hanging almost parallel with the ground, over the balcony.
And the Grail girl still has another cola to cut.

The SSSTN x (Grail x ThaiFrican) plants need a few weeks, over a month probably, to develop.
I'm thinking they'll be ready by Christmass / New Year.

No photos today, was working fast to process that flower!

Spring-Summer Grow -- Maria's Haze Heaven Hacienda!

Day 391: (re-veg) 145V + 112F

Sun is out, temps into the mid 20s C.
The last few days have been good weather for end of flowering to harvest.
Pity about the month or more before!

Time to cut down the last of the longer run.
The last branch of the Grail (NLD pheno) came down,
and the SSSTN (Fluffy pheno) came down two, a couple of main colas.
At Flowering Day 112, that's just hitting 16 weeks.
The upper end of their flowering times of 12-16 according to OJD.
It's also later than the first round, when I took them around 14 weeks or so.
Can't see a single white pistil on these girls now.
They're done!

I did a quick and rough wet trim, but not much to remove really.
Here is most of it hanging on the wall.
First photo no flash, second with flash.
One cola of the SSSTN was cut down into individual buds and into the laundry bag.

Grail on the left, SSSTN on the right.

Grail (NLD pheno) -- re-vegged

PXL_20241202_061853051.jpg

Doesn't look much different from the earlier colas cut down a couple of weeks ago.

SSSTN (Fluffy pheno) -- re-vegged

One interesting thing here, is that she looks identical to the 'Sticky' pheno.
In the end, it seems that the phenotype difference in these two plants wasn't genetic.
My guess is that because this Fluffy girl was original shaded out by Sticky,
and didn't start flowering until much later,
her shape and pheno expression the first time was probably due to the increasing light cycles at the time.
When Sticky and Fluffy flower out at almost exactly the same time,
then they are just the same phenotype after all.
This isn't just the shape and form, her aromas are almost identical, too.
Of course, I've cut her slightly later, so maybe there will be a little difference in the smoke in the end.

Anyway, pics!

SSSTN x (Grail x ThaiFrican) -- seed stock

Meanwhile, these little seed stock girls are still rocking along very well!
After the first SSSDH leaning pheno that was cut, the rest are definitely slower.
There's one, a bit ratty tatty looking, that is getting close to finish, but she has a lot of white pistils still.
And the Pearl pheno is still just stretching out and out as they do, with white pistils still popping.
But there's a few that are big and puffy, lots of white pistils shooting out, fuller buds, and looking in good health with nice green to them still.
Because the bigger girls are all cut down now, all these little ladies are not getting shaded out any more either.

Here's two pics of one of them, probably my fave as the one that looks to be the longest flowering girl.

PXL_20241202_061630162.jpg

As I mentioned earlier, this girl, and all these seed stock plants, have nice trichome development, and the calyxes seem to be of normal size.
I'm comparing that to the particularly smaller calyxes that the re-vegged plants have this round.
So really not sure what the problem was with the re-vegged plants.

I should do testers of the SSSTN Sticky and Grail pheno that were just harvested this week.
Just a quick test, of course, for scientific purposes, naturally.

Peace and Love,

What an adventure!

Thanks for taking us on this convoluted and fascinating ride dear Maria.

Testing ones haul is very important imo ☝🏼
In the name of science and for posterity of course.

All the best for your future endeavors and my the ganja gods keep the sneaky bud rot from your harvest!

Hasch! You make it sound like I'm leaving the forum, off to distant lands.
These younger plants are still going, so I have to keep the journal running until it's all done.
It has been an adventure this round, and even more so than my usual silliness.

I need more jars still!
At least ... another two more, and maybe three.
Not including the little seed-stock plants....

Yeah i bet they smoke and hit fantastic! Very sativa looking, real sunshine and environment pressure. Enjoy! ❤️

The did the first round.
While they don't quite look as juicy this time as they did then, I think they'll have some surprises in store.
Sativa all the way in this garden (ok, except part of those Lemon 'n' Lime Jones girls!)

Will post up a brief 'tester' smoke report by the end of the week.
Hopefully can do both the SSSTN Sticky and Grail NLD pheno as testers.

Oh, and that SSSDH leaning pheno of the SSSTN x (Grail x ThaiFrican) group.
She really does look very, very nice, color, crystal, aromas, everything!
But will need to dry her a bit first, so that may have to wait a little -- don't rush things!

Great job Maria
It was an excellent journal and you sure had your ups and downs(stairs mostly hehe) but now you can literally enjoy the fruits of your labor.. it takes me back to my days of growing outdoors and all the nuances that pop up.. the taggers must be fine people as you didn't lose one bud to them.. sounds like people are very honest for the most part in your area as I see from your pics that you have places/houses close by.. kudos
it makes the smoke that much better when you put in that much effort so maybe your bat crazy friends were a bonus for you.. good luck with the rest of your grow

Half of the SSSTN Fluffy pheno is jarred.
Presently at a drop site until I can move it to proper storage in a few days.
The other half is dried but still in the 'laundry' if you know what I mean.
The rest of the Grail project NLD pheno is also in the 'laundry'.

I still have literally branches and branches of the Grail x ThaiFrican hanging on the walls.
A big cob? Maybe. I know where to source some bamboo now.

Day something something of flowering, who knows? who really cares?

Meanwhile, the 'little' ones (now more like the short but chonky ones):

First, the pretty delicate Lady Pearl.
She's looking done, to be honest, but ... will get her later this week, I hope.
PXL_20241209_080723929.jpg

Next, this girl, looks a bit rough, but the flower development is on point.
PXL_20241209_080629215.jpg

PXL_20241209_080633362.jpg

There is another girl who is like a slimmer version of the above.
But she looks even more battered, so no pics of her -- she's a bit shy, shall we say?

Then we have a couple of ladies who are lovely and green, though with a bit of bug damage.
One who is a bit chunkier and solid looking:
PXL_20241209_080530321.jpg

PXL_20241209_080537139.jpg

Her shape looks a lot like their mom, but she's a bit thicker.
Is going to be some seriously delicious and potent herb, I just know it!
That top bud has a nice wobble on it when you shake it (I know you all do this with your top colas!)

And the last, more open and airy, and also with longer to go in her flowering cycle.
This is the lady I showed in the last update pics.
PXL_20241209_080552983.jpg

A last bud of their aunty in the background, haha!
Her size is the proverbial American football, and she's still filling out a lot.
PXL_20241209_080558966.jpg

Let's just say that I am extremely excited to see how this bud shapes up and smokes.
Their faster sister, that I called the SSSDH pheno, is dried and jarred.
She has some serious diesel terps on her, good thick sati-dom hybrid flower.
And these ladies her are definitely more on the sativa side.
Apart from Lady Pearl and the big puffy slow girl, the others have a nice sati-dom hybrid look to them.
The Pearl and puffy really let the Thai genetics shine out.

And, if I may, these may end up being better quality flower than the big girls who had to endure all that terrible fall weather, multiple typhoons, etc.
Temps are getting lower, of course, but we know from last year that they should be okay.
Apart from the slow puffy girl, who will be airy enough to resist later humidity and cold,
the rest may be finished between now and late Dec / early Jan.

May the sun shine with touches of rain to keep them happy but low humidity.

Signing off,
~~MJS

PS: on the way through the bat cave, the bats are gone.
Maybe they just live here in the warmer summer months?
So I went and had a little look at the guano situation.
Must be 100 kg of guano in there.
It all forms in lines, under the beams and pipes where they used to hang out (pun intended!)
A lot of it is dry, but not completely.
Some places the rain gets in, other places no water.
Think I want to get something to scoop some up, so I can put it somewhere to age.
Though, now the bats are gone, maybe just let it age there??

Guano experts:
How much of this can I use? I literally could have many kgs, up to me.
Maybe I should do some tester plants, with different concentrations.
Sounds like a lot of work, but free guano, can't miss this opportunity!

Lots of good shit, in fact, Alice!
Like, I could literally go in there with a shovel and several big sacks, and fill all those sacks up.

I'm doing some online research about local bat types.
Seems most likely they are insect-eating bats.
So that means higher N, medium P, and low K.

Will have to be careful not to overdo it.
Easy to put too much in the mix when it's literally free and abundant.

I’m seeing reports of people making tea with the guano , and also soil mixes of 100g per 15L of soil 👍

I recommend to take care when dealing with this type of shit.

Could be some nasty pathogens, fungus and bacteria in there. I know its good shit for plants and i just wanna inform

I could imagine that all the bought batshit is treated with heat to make it save. But wild, all shit is possible

Yes, I'm seeing similar ratios for the mixes.
Can't do tea. Don't have the time or the means for a guerilla grow.
But into the soil I can do.

Thanks for your concern!
Sure, we all talked about that kind of issue many pages back.
I've walked through the bat cave so many times now, nothing has happened.
Histoplasmosis is very rare around here, unlike some other places/countries.
I'm going to let it age, let all that crazy stuff break down, before I use it.
Ideally, have it out in the sun to let the UV do its work.

Maybe drying out in the sun for a longer time could help.

Since i'm using guanokalong from the store for many years with tomatoe/vegetable soil for my window and indoor grows i never looked into it in depth.

As others h e said be careful where a dust mask and don’t touch . IMO I think the safest way to use would be composted . Just move some outside and leave in a pile and let it sit for a bit and get rained on . Flip it with a shovel once or twice and test ph and adjust if necessary. You could also could try throwing some around on the weeds and see how they react . It’s probably high in nitrogen and I suggest mixing in some dead leaves to your compost as well, they can be collected on site .You gotta check it out IMO .Another good organic you can probably find is worm castings ,quit often they can be found under leave on top of concrete slabs outside. I would not rule out making bat guano tea , i use chicken manure tea its high in N and just one or two shots for veg works out perfect . I love organics it’s all about using what you can get

I think that's the best idea.
Need somewhere / somehow where they get the sunshine, but won't get blown away in the wind.

Will do! Dust mask, no touching/ contact.
I think the idea of testing on the weeds is brilliant, and easy to do.
I want to get some better large pots ready and the medium sorted out over the winter.
