This is a lovely Southern hemisphere perspective on modern man's divorce from fermentation.

The first association I make with it, is sourdough bread. I see the lab report for pathogens, but most likely it could also be done for wildcaught yeasts and the like?

I've always subscribed to the urban legend that the "real" bricks were done similarly to this, but had been replaced by cheap dried copies. I would tend to agree that jar methods are really just a way to keep herb from drying into crumbles.

I have no clue about anything truly African, although it always suggests dried gourds to me, perhaps one could be made like a Zuccato cake (molded into a dwarf pumpkin). However I think I may have encountered some kind of "pencil cob" one time.

It was at that age when most other people were in high school, but of course I was trekking over to a different kind of place where there was a pretty reliable bag supplier. It was one of those rare instances where I showed up and he said he was out.

Well, there was some guy on the couch who I had never seen before that offered to help me. All I had to do was go to the crackhead motel, of course, not actually into it, but wait outside, watching these people, if that's what they really were, because they all resembled something I might need to kill quick. Anyway, the word was, this was something from...I better just say, a port city...so, whether that means grown around there, or was imported, I don't know.

After enduring that kind of situation, not being charged any high price, and then being handed (at night) what seemed to be nondescript lumps of brown crud, I stuffed it in my pocket and pretty much gave up hope. I was, of course, expecting something relatively decent looking, and felt like I had wasted my time cause now I can't get anything else for a while.

Once I got it out in the light, all I knew was that it was unlike anything I had ever seen. It was just about like wood in terms of its strength, like pieces of a pencil, but not quite dry like that, more like a bag of brown crayons. It smacked me with a cement filled glove and of course I immediately changed my opinion, then realized I did not even know the name of the person that got it. So that was the only time.

Judging from that bag and these stories, and now having some fancy new plants that might be worth it, I believe I shall follow the footsteps sometime later this year.

Hi my friend great to hear it helps you so much, it helps me I have 12 different cobs all do different things from giving me energy to giving me a day in heaven without a care in the world.
The fact that taken at 9am it lasts all day is the main bonus, getting the dose right is very important i find 0.35g to be just right but everyone is different and you need to experiment untill you get the dose right.
After that its just measure the dose and chew your chosen meds.

For feeling strong with no pain try Zamaldelica it makes me feel like I am 16 and full of energy, def good for pain killing.
I have plenty of painful joints and a bad back, but once I chew that I feel like going to a disco and pulling chicks ha ha.

The Panama is also good for energy and a dreamy tripped out relaxed day.

But for mood elevating and a zest for life Golden Tiger is my fav.
If I feel down and tired it will make the day feel like I just won the lottery and the rest of my life will be great.
I use it as meds for recuperating and giving me a positive outlook when things bring me down.

What would you say is the trippiest ace strain in your stable? And does that change from grow to grow? Or from ferment to ferment, or cob to cob? Or all of the above?

Hi my friend I have had 3 phenos of Golden Tiger all very good.
As I chew the cob not smoke it the effects last a lot longer than smoking and are different as well so I can only speak for chewing the cob.

The GT of any of the three phenos cobbed is extremely trippy to me.

I am completely transformed and taken into another world.
This lasts for between 6 to 8hrs on the right dose, which for me is half a gram of dried cob.

Yes each grow is better than the last as I learn how best to grow her and when is the best time to harvest.
Every cob is different as I try subtle changes to the cure each time.

My last cure was my best yet and produced the trippiest deepest effects yet.
For this cure I hung the branches to dry for 3 days.

Then stripped the buds which were still very green and damp.
Made 2 oz cobs which were sweated at 40c for 12 and 24 hrs in separate vacuum sealed bags.
These were left unopened for a week then opened and dried until the outside of the cob was dry to the touch.
Then vacuum sealed for 4 weeks at around 25c

Both were then dried again as the moisture in the center had spread throught the cob during the 4 week cure.

After drying until the outside was dry to the touch they were vacuum sealed for 3 months and stored at ambiant room temp which was about 25c

Once opened after 3 months they had amalgamated into a solid cob which could be cut like hash and had a very sweet hashy smell.

The high from the 12 and 24 hrs sweated cobs is similar but the shorter sweated cobs smell more aromatic and have a more energetic high, the longer sweated cobs are more narcotic all from the same plant.

My smoking friends all rate both cobs the best tasting, smoking and powerful they have had and its their stand out favorite so far.

I am looking forward to using this recipe on my Zamaldelica and Panama plants to see what it will bring out as these are my 3 favorites from Ace.

But any strong plant that you like the high of will work, just get the best pot you can lay your hands on.

I have had the pleasure of tasting cobs made by my Aussie friends using other strains and they all have their good points.
As long as they have the effects you like personally thats all that matters.

Thank you sir! Appreciate the info. I'm strain searching. Need a high thc for pain and another high cbd / low thc for pain, and one trip me out of my skull strain. Was originally looking at Zamaldelica only because of the trip factor. But I see you use it for pain and Gt for trip. More research.

I was wondering what would become of the cheesey or skunky smell after cobbing.
A friend of mine made some cobs from a strain by southern star seeds called "chopper read" named after an Aussie hit man.

The dried buds stink as much as skunk but a different smell.

To use his words "when i opened the vac bag after 2 weeks of curing post sweating, the smell sat me on my ass!".

He was gracious enough to give me a cob, man it smelt like the sweetest nepalese hash and would stink up a room by just opening the bag for a sniff.

It is very strong sativa manic type high and is one of my absolute favorites.

It is not easy to get the cure that way the cob is like hash to cut and very dark.

Update on my cob adventure. Made this GT cob back on June 22. Since then have done the 24 hour sweat (170 deg). Vac packed for about two weeks .....opened and dried.....left the corn husk on and re-vacuumed packed. Today (30 days) I opened it (and her sisters)....removed the husk and re-vacuumed for another 30 days. Very dark but still a little moist. Sweet smell.:tiphat:

Hi my friend the recipe sounds right the buds fantastic just dry the cobs slowly and seal them to age.

Of course they will be fine to use once dried but the extra aging after drying really brings out the goodies.

Please post some close ups and cross sections before aging them if you can.

Good on you for giving it such a good go and trusting in the method.

I agree then you can appreciate how the high changes over that time. I wish I could be there to help with the sampling you have gold there Old timer.
You know I WANTED to try to finally show some patience.....but......NO...you guys INSIST that I sample the cobs.......so....I guess I will do it JUST in order to make you happy. I'll try a tip of one of the cobs when I open them again in 29 days. The question is: Should I dry and smoke it.....or eat it? :tiphat:

if you don't try it now, how will you know if its better?:yummy:
I have quite a bit of the same bud that is being cured by the more traditional method. Thought I'd compare the cob with the standard cure. BUT....you are right......HOW will I know whether the cob actually does improve with a longer cure unless I try it early AND later? Certainly we know we can't trust Tangwena....his sole mission in life is to convert ALL of us. :tiphat:
