Hi my friend can you post pictures of both the jar cured and cob cured side by side. I like seeing the finished product.Hello again Tangwena and all!
So, a q̶u̶i̶c̶k̶ (that didnt work out hah) smoke report after about three weeks curing.
Before i start i just wanted to state what the curing conditions were.
-The cob was wrapped after five days of drying, so the weed was still fairly wet, too wet to really smoke well, as Tangwena had originally recommended.
-They were left to sweat for about 24 hours, and had been at about 40-50°C for that (in my computer).
-Once vacuumed they were left in the computer to ferment temperatures were again 40-50°.
-Six days fermenting (I decided on less time, as it was a "small" batch, compared to what people were trying with an ounce, (I had 17 grams)).
The curing was done with my jar cured buds for about two two-three weeks (started drying on the 11/11/16, then a week later, curing started, you can see them on page 90).
Ok so that out of the way, some comments!!
I'm very new to weed that isn't completely unknown street-weed, and i doubt i'v ever tried a pure sativa-type strain. So i lack reference points. But this is mostly a comparison to the jar curing method.
The way it smoked without the cob was very heavy, super heavy body. Mentally things were very relaxing and kinda "stuffy". A very confusing stone. I'm sure you guys know what i'm on about. The jar method made for a super smooth smoke (have never smoked anything that smooth)
The cob curing made a bigger differences then i was expecting. It kept its very relaxing side (physically and mentally), but the high was far clearer. No more confusion, the muddiness was, for the most part gone. So it felt less intense, but in retrospect, I think that it left me more capable then with jar cured. I'm certainly not used to it. Watching a movie to relax on a Friday was a treat and easier to keep up with.
The actual smoke was also smooth, a slight bit harsher, but still miles better then a regular baggy. (tbh so long as it doesnt rip the throat off me i'm happy, never got smoking "flavors" much).
So yeah, a definite change in quality. Really enjoyable and leaves me much more capable, which is handy when all I have had for a while is heavy smoke.
I have yet to try eating it and am very excited and looking forward to what that is supposed to be like!
One last thing, I had the misfortune of finding out that cob cured weed is much more mold resistant.
Anyhow enough rambling apologies for the mass of text.
Happy smoking, growing and curing.

Believe it or not it gets stronger after a month or 3 months its premium. That sample was still a bit fresh, glad you picked up on the clear aspect though. After a couple of months curing this clear feeling becomes much more intense and you will realise that is what its about.
Dont chew any for at least another month, give it time to age and then chew 0.5g to start with, reduce this to 0.25g once you realise what just happened.
People used to the heavy lethargic stone of Indicas often dont recognise the high at first, but when chewed it will be more intense and last a lot longer so gives you more time to explore the sensations and mental clarity that comes with the insights.

Thanks again for the advice and for sharing all this.
it is very much clearer, it was a real surprise. The extra quality that cones with aging is very useful too, i don't consume much and 22g lasted me about 8 months. So now i have a great long term storage method, which i was struggling to find!
Looking forward to eating, I have messed with edibles, and they certainty are a whole other game! Now that i have been acquainted with growing and have learned a good deal about strains, i'm aiming for more interesting plants.

great thread... might have to give this a try, im getting into all sorts of fermenting
Got it now my friend, that jar cured bud is unusual in how dark it is, still the cob looks good and if you can keep some stashed for a month or two you will notice it gets better as it ages. Nice first cob though well done my friend. Respect for giving it a go.View Image
Trying the picture again. Hopefully this one will work.
At worst here's a link https://i.imgur.com/X7qwCQb.jpg
Yes my friend it would work either way the buds dont have to be compacted in a cob, it would work any way you like.Hrmmm, Vacuum curing in jar...
I was thinking of trying to do that in a chamber Vacuum machine.
But after the cure was mostly done, as an added way of preserving for longer term with out
compacting the buds.
Hi man, the Congo from what I have read of the effects would def improve with a good sweat cure. Any uplifting strain would get something special from this cure. If you do please post pics of buds before and after cure. That would be a nice comparison.Tang this looks mouthwatering! The colors really seem to mellow out into nice gold and yellow hues.
After reading your instructions some months ago I gave it a go on some Congo and I'm just at the point of trying it for the first time today maybe. We got about six inches of snow over night so I'm ready to get in the woods....some cobbed Congo might just be the ticket.
I read an article about a village in NW India where they sweat/cure the slabs of black hash for 3 months inside goat skins to do exactly that cure it. It is reputed to be the highest grade hash. An old Lebanese guy I met in UK said he would not smoke any hash that wasn't cured and most of the hash sold in Europe was un cured and no good as far as he was concerned. Google curing hash in goat skins its interesting reading.Hi Tang and everyone
I now have five cobs of Super Silver Haze in the first ferment, along with sweat cured buds. They are all being held at 90 degrees F, and were sweated for 24 hours at 130 degrees. I will open them on the eight day (next Saturday).
Hash!
Also, I decided to experiment with hash. I have 3 grams of bubble hash from the same crop, just made last week, vacuumed in a bag, sweating and curing away with the rest of the lot. Twice I have noticed that the release of moisture from the hash has caused the bags to lose their seal, so I resealed them each time.
The hash is already outstanding, incredibly clear. I can't wait to see what it is like with a ferment on it.
Has anyone ever tried sweat curing hash? I can't see why it wouldn't work, unless it is necessary to have plant matter in there for the mysterious effects of a cure.
Some pics of the first Swazi cobs that have been curing now for a week after sweating for 3 days. Also some of the same buds jar curing in a vacuumed jar.
The smell is fermented pine and very appealing to me anyway and I wish I could light up a joint of it the taste would be divine.
