Malawi, PCK and others beginner grow

Wanted to mention that I left a small light on in my flower room for the last maybe 2 weeks, a fluro over a fish tank. Only caught it last night. Glad and almost surprised to see no nanners. Wonder if some leafier growth could have been encouraged, also of course I see the burnt tips. It is so easy to give too much nitrogen it seems. My nitrogen sources are a wormbin in the veg room, a turtle/fish tank with plants in the flowering, occasional human urine, sometimes aerated sometimes not. But I give hardly any of this and they are still burnt, so I cut down to none for Malawis, and feed them water with wood ash and bone char in varying degrees.

I have Zamaldelica and Destroyer in flowering now. 5/8 destroyers are male, the most male heavy ratio I've had. The Zamals look very beautiful, and the destroys a little funny and cartoonish in a way.

I also have some Revolution from Reggae seeds flowering as our CBD strain, it smells incredible and is so frosty. I have pollinated M1 and M12 with a male Revolution to see what we get.

They all look pretty healthy to me Anjey. Be careful with the wood ash, a little goes a long way and is very easy to give to much.

Peace GG

Will try to keep it limited GG. Soils around here all acidic and the creek water I use is acidic too, so I do add a bit of it to all my waterings as a liming agent. Haven't noticed issues from it that I am aware of yet.

Hi Anjey,

Beautiful purple phenos, looks pretty much like the purple phenos from Malawi Breeders Pack. In case you have doubts please email me with the packing date of the envelope so we can track the seed lot you are growing.

Malawi breeds true, so basically if you reproduce Malawi in pure form you will get more Malawi .... the quality of your seeds will greatly depend on the quality of the parental plants you used for the reproduction, the more plants you have to choose from higher the chances to find elite parental plants to produce a better new generation.

Best wishes with the new batch of genetics too! :)

I have some thoughts and questions about breeding, if anyone more knowledgeable than me can chime in that would be great.

Basically if I am crossing plants from the same strain such as Malawi, how much of the second generation will be as good as the first?

So with seeds such as these Malawis, if I select my favorites and cross them, I know there will be a variety of traits from the parents and the parents parents. Will many of these seeds be inferior to the original pack? What percentage would be as good, and how much of a rarity the ones better? How does this translate across to other strains?

Appreciate any thoughts on this.

Thanks very much all, appreciate it, I have learned so much from all your threads and it feels nice to be able to post something back.

Dubi will take opportunity again to thank you again and all others who have made these genetics available and continue to do so. They have added a whole dimension of enjoyment and excitement to cannabis for me who was only aware of the classic Dutch and American hybrids.

I tried an early sample of a purple Malawi that finished drying yesterday. Isn't it odd that I have 4 that have purpled? In regards to finding the lot number, I didn't save the package, and got the Malawi before I realized Ace shipped direct to where I was (I now of course order directly from the Ace site).

I like the smell and taste very much, unique, subtle and layered. Fruity, mild sweet berry, with almost a nasal clearing effect with a peppery spicy background that I feel will become more pronounced with cure. The high was already a nice positive and relatively strong high that makes me very excited for the potency of the other phenos, especially Malawi 1.

What is this idea proliferated that indicas are better tasting than sativas, especially pure sativas?

I've cut down two of the four purple Malawi's that have rather small buds. They smell and taste incredible. Richly sweet with a sort of rounded out green mango taste hard to describe I like Dubies mandarin association. More enjoyable and pleasant aroma than the vast majority of commercial hybrid strains I've had, one of the more satisfying aromas I've come across.

Thanks Bugman. Was just going to post some photos. Glad to hear you grew the Congo and enjoyed.

I harvested the one biggest branch from Malawi 12 a few days ago because it was falling over and I wanted to try it. I also harvested the two purple Malawis I haven't photoed which have much smaller frangrant buds.

The rest are still going and all seeded with Malawi, Malawi 1 and 12 seeded with Revolution from which I think could be some delicious and pleasant affect progeny.

Here are some lower buds of Malawi 12 -

This is a top bud from Malawi 12 no trimming at all with about a week drying in a cool room, and some baby Violetas and mixed seeds -

We've been really enjoying the early samples of Malawi. My friend commented that I actually looked high last night for the first time she had seen me not on edibles. It's been pleasant and not overly intoxicating at times and relatively strong at others.

Hi anjey beautiful plants you have going, if you like edibles check out my thread Malawi style cob cureing, with the spelling mistake.
If you like to munch on stuff to get high wander over and check out some African magic.

Hi Tang thanks for writing in!

I have most certainly seen and appreciate your cob thread. I've meant to write there and post a picture of a cob I made with your help but didn't get around to it. Thanks for posting about it. I think I'll certainly be trying it out many a time over the years to come but likely only with maize I grow myself! You have made me excited to see the results with these good quality ganjas.

Thanks.

Tangwena hope to run into you sometime before you die, have some times and eat some cobs :)

I feel like this ganja is great. I have been smoking it and enjoy the way I sometimes don't feel very high from it and at other times very much so throughout the day. And I get a lovely sleepy stone at night. Great culminative effects. Lovely aroma and taste, and the one branch of M12 is a little less than a half oz which took me about 5 minutes to trim.

We slaughtered a hog today. I shot him in the head dead center in the X it felt. He ran around not seeming in too much pain. I shot him again from maybe 50ft away, he continued to walk around. Then he went back to his pals and resumed eating. I was able to get close and shot him again, and he went down stunned finally. We looked at where the shot was and it was less than a fingernail width lower than the first. Dense skulled guy for sure.

Just a little anecdote from our early Malawi days.

Pigs can be hard to kill a friend of mine had a massive male pig he wanted to slaughter he shot it point blank in the head between the eyes it dropped like a stone. so he went inside to put his gun away and get his butchering knives and when he came back out the pig was chasing a guy on a bicycle down the road. The pig wasn't on a bike the guy was ha ha.
Anyway it dropped dead after a couple of hundred yards.
But they can be hard to kill for sure.
Taste good though hey.
Have a great Christmas and keep posting your awesome plants.
