Hi Kiwi it looks like the low temps and lack of sun will affect the buds adversly unfortunatly, heres hoping for more sun this month. i didnt have any luck with my outdoor, bloody goats ate the lot. I am still eating goat curry though! The rest of the mothers have a target on their arses too!
My malawi is now well cured and very strong in an unimpressive way, i dont think I will grow this again, maybe I picked it to early but I cant emagine even leaving it longer would change it to the way I am used to having Malawi hit me. When I grew my own seeds leaving it too long produced a zombie like high, nothing good.
I will give the Zamaldelica a shot next. The stuff I used to get in Malawi was like speed, acid and ex mixed into one. Nobody could say they could handle the trippy high first time. You got used to what was going to happen and handled it better the more times you smoked it.
I have never been able to grow it the same no matter how hard I tried, even with seeds from the bud that did the damage, I am at a loss to try and reproduce the conditions.
Anyway dont feel bad if doesn't turn out to be exceptional, there are so many things that can effect it. Best of luck going foreward. Tangwena
I harvested 2 oz of Malawi last tuesday because of some rot etc and my mates seem to love it and put them all to sleep by 8.30 last saturday night all they're wanting is Malawi from me now.
Anyway here's some pics of them yesterday, I don't know if they can last till the end of the month, branches are snapping off and the plant is a mess in general as you can see. When do you think I should harvest these? feed them with bat guano yesterday.
Hi kiwigreen420,
It's a pitty the weather has not been good there in late flowering. Just by the look of the flowers of your malawi, i would recommend you to harvest soon and stop to add more ferts, especially if you think the weather is not going to be good in the upcoming weeks, she looks already resinous and mature!
Lovely buds kiwi, are you NZ native? I heard they smoke ganja with two hot knives... sounds very eco to me I usually smoke ganja with some tobacco, but its better to see more green stuff in every spliff I smoke. Do you use whole bud, or you remove steam before smoking? My friend who worked in NZ one year, told me this method hit him very strong several times..well he was unable to resume picking kiwies..real Balkan worker Jugoslovanska gamad http://youtu.be/TG4FA2mTdwA
Konopenko - that's called 'spotting' or doing spots. Its just pieces broken off of regular dried buds and squashed into as big a ball as you can handle smoking. Its a no-no to finish a hit and still have smoke coming off the knives The knives are heated up on a stove top element like this one https://www.icmag.com/ic/picture.php?albumid=52838&pictureid=1252126 or else a gas burner. Touch one hot knife to the ball of bud and it sticks - you then squash it with the second hot knife and inhale the smoke through a funnel or tube. (Often just the top of a drink bottle.)
Just found this wiki link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spots_(cannabis))
Bucket bongs and "lungs' - which work like a waterless bucket bong -are other Kiwi classics.
Hi TangHi Kiwi I also think mixing tobacco is counter productive and dont smoke cigs and never have. As for leaving some buds on the plant anything is possible but with the cold wet weather coming most likely they will just die. If it was warmer and summer around the corner it might re veg but NZ winters are to harsh.
I am chewing a malawi bud at the moment tastes right, smells right but knocks me out after a couple of hours. I can understand the Europeans liking it as its like a indian hash type high with a sativa edge. I dont dislike it and cant stop trying it. But its so not like the good Malawi I used to get, that was rocket fuel you felt like you had come down from a trip after it wears off, all emotionaly drained and spaced out.
The reason Malawi has such a reputation is from people who tried it on their travels and raved about it back home. But not every cob sold in Malawi is not. first grade and the majority only get commercial grade malawi which while still good is not the rocket fuel the first grade is.
The same with Durban Poisen many grades of good stuff and rarely the realy good DP stick if your lucky, but everyone thinks they are getting the good stuff in Durban.
I tried some really good DP sticks while in Mozambique on holliday, totaly different from Malawi though. Most of the Malawi in South Africa is low grade commercial stuff grown by every man and his dog to feed the demand from the SA gangs, hence some people dont rate Malawi as highly as they should and would if they got the real deal number one cobs.
So you can see why I dont think much of what I have grown in the past and even this last lot just never gets to the brain damage level I was used to.
Good luck mate I hope you are lucky and have a good pheno. I used to have one or two drags to get off the planet, anything more than that its second rate in my opinion. Sorry for the ramble but the bud is working its magic.
Stay safe my friend. Tangwena
