Malawi indoor/outdoor grow. New Zealand

I'd take airy, leafy bud over losing 3/4 of my dense crop to mold! Which happened to me one year...beautiful indica strains that just rotted. That's why I grow indoors. Ideally I could run pure sats outside and indicas and hybrids indoors...maybe one day!
As for water crystals, I don't use them as I hear they can alter the taste of buddage and leach toxic chemicals as they break down. I'd just grow in larger holes/pots and mulch.

Yeah people in NZ have already had problems with bud rot.
Water saver crystal is the best one from mitre 10 or bunnings.
That's a load of bs. I've always grown with them outside and everything has been fine with the end product. Maybe some other brands are known for it?.
You absolutely need these in Aussie for guerilla growing with those 40+ degree days man.

Hi kiwi, your malawi is getting big! Love the outdoor vibe you have there. I'm not very familiarized with your local climate but NZ and Spain are in the opposite side of the world, same latitude, different hemisphere, guess they will start to produce bud sites in mid/late march and then close 3 months of flowering more.
Sounds like they're going to be huge! Many do use water crystals without issues, but a small amount of acrylamide (toxic) will make it into the soil. Whether or not the plant can take it up through the roots is another story though.
You've never watered them? WOW! It's humid here in summer and rains ridiculous amounts from June to September and even into October; we even get major storms every year that have ripped smaller plants right out of the ground. Hence the desire to grow indoors (for now)!

Ace Malawi seems to have a diverse gene pool. Observing some of the indoor photos you could think some of them had indica genetics. However outdoors they can get really tall and very sativa like. Four to five meters no problem and maybe taller still.
On the subject of water crystals in Australia. I grew around the Hawkesbury sandstone country for about twenty years. Water crystals spelled disaster most of the time. In sandy soil they attract termites. Then when heavy rains fall they are the last thing you want in the soil holding onto moisture when there is already too much of it.
Much better to spend more time conditioning the soil. Soil with plenty of humus retains water better and is much healthier for a plant. Having said that though you can still lose out to termites which are attracted to humus,mulch etc. I used to have a number of holes in different locales in case there were termite, possum or weather problems. All the best.

What are the minimum daytime temperatures for Ace Malawi?.

Ace Malawi is a diverse genepool but Malawi is not one single strain but 3 main ones apparently. I've some pretty broad leaf africans, I think the broad Malawis are from lake mulanje?. I'm not too sure if the Malawis have much crystals anyway, I put earth juice catalyst which stopped them from swelling up into crystals.
I wouldn't use crystals if I could water them frequently.

over 7ft tall, looks like it's getting ready to flower in the next couple weeks.

Yeah it was a good day today at 25.8 degrees and 32% humidty.
They're cuttings so they're both long flowers, next years f2's shall be a treat.
They've really impressed me with their overall health and vigour.
imagine these on a full season?.

That golden tiger looks good, I enjoy outside growing far more than inside too.
I'd only grow outside if it were legal.
I'm making some Uzbeki/Malawi hash now, i'll post some pics when dried/pressed.
