Malawi Gold at 9 weeks

Sup Pig,

It is my general understnading that curing is the process of letting the non Canabanoid copounds like chloropyl breakdown leaving only skeletal chemical remains asside from THC and CBC. Making the smoking process much more "efficient" as in all thats left are canabanoids and trace folial compounds. This is why water curing is so effective: Canabanoids are NOT water soluble but clorophyl and other plant compounds are so the water breaks down everything but the Canabanoids leaving a very clean and canabanoid rich chemo type. I suspect the "character" issue is this aswell. A more thurough and pure vaporization of the canabanoids provides for a more complex high..

IMHO ofcourse.

Best,

OL

Hey elevator man do your remember how long veg they had if any? this looks really amazing stuff cant wait too see them finish!

Nice grow elevator man! The seedsman mg seem to be good yeilders and fairly early (indoor) for a pure stativa dont you think? I have seen some indoor grows where people are going over 100 days with a "pure" stativa.

They had eight weeks veg from seed as I recall - here's a thread I posted on 18th Sept. and you can see them as toddlers - even then the shade leaves were huge: http://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=36498

They hadn't fully shown pre-flowers when I put them in - they were there, but I couldn't tell which was which. Out of 7 (I think) I only got two females. When the pics above were taken, they were stretching like crazy, but after a few weeks of bending and tying, they just stopped and began budding.

I don't know if they really will be ready at twelve weeks - it's ten on Saturday, but I think they're getting ready for a swelling, so we'll see...:)

looking good man, might have to give these a go they look nice sativas but with a fast flower. :joint:

From the pictures of your plants at 9 weeks I should say 12 weeks' maturation is quite optimistic. Good luck though and I should like to see when they are actually ready.

Well I might knock the room down to 11 hours this weekend, which should help things along. My Skunks and Flos will also be finishing at the same time, and I really could do with getting everything out for a new run, but I'm prepared to give them more time if it looks promising.

Update at 73 days...

Update at 73 days...

Here's some close-ups of two small test buds I clipped off the bottom of one of the phenos last night for testing purposes. Resin is developing nicely. Nice spicy smell, though mild. This pheno is actually developing fatter buds than the other now - a shame, as I didn't pollenate this pheno with the Flo males as they didn't seem different enough at the time. However, there are one or two random seeds, and I can always re-veg this one easily for some clones (I only kept a clone of the pollenated version).

I've reduced the photoperiod to 11/13 now to finish them (and my Skunks and Flos) off - I can let them go a little longer than 12 weeks, but not much. BTW,the purple on the calyxes is as much flash coloring as actual - I can't see any with my eye...:)

Don't worry - there will be one, although I won't be able to stick to the recommended six-month cure before posting it!
These buds are smelling very interesting now - much more spicy as they dry. Sadly this pheno didn't get pollenated with Flo, as they looked totally the same five weeks ago, and I threw away my only clone as it was too tall - now the buds on this one are visibly fatter and stickier, and I'm kicking myself! So I'll have to reveg it now, but that's OK - plenty of growth I can leave on.
I would recommend this Malawi as a pure sativa indoors - it's very easy to grow, no real problems at all with nutes, heat or anything, and hasn't stretched anything like I expected. Bend the tops back as it puts on the main spurt, and it will stop growing vertically after a while. They're heat-resistant too, as a good sativa should be - I've got these under 1200W - they're right under one of the two 600s, and the temp at the tops measures 88F, with no problems. I've got a lot of fans in there, I should mention...:)

the difference in bud size could well be caused by the pollenation of the buds.

the seeded buds are putting there energy into the seeds...

That's what I thought, but I only pollenated two branches on the plant, whilst the rest was covered. There's one or two random seeds scattered around, but most of the plant is clean. Maybe there's a threshold level where the whole plant reacts, even if not actually growing seeds?
Originally there was a slight physical difference - the unpollenated plant was slightly more 'creeper' structure whilst the pollenated plant was more bushy - the buds however looked identical. Not any more...

There's plenty to smoke mind you - I'm just starting to think from a breeder's perspective now rather than a consumer's...:)

Hmm...well an early smoke test of those tiny buds suggests that this Malawi Gold...is fucking excellent! Wow...

More later... :chin:

I always wonder why the seedsman doesn't get more attention, I need to get down with some of that there. Thanks for letting us in Elevator Man.

I'm always astonished by how little interest Seedsman get considering their stock - mostly pure strains, and many of their hybrids are original Sacred Seeds versions, so you would have thought they would be getting much more attention, especially as their prices are amazing.
I don't think they mind though, and seem to be doing alright! I talked to a seedshop owner I know recently, and he said he had great service from those guys, and they were very knowledgable for a vendor.

I wish they had a forum here...!!!

I've also got their Skunk#1 finishing off (in another thread here) and they are amazing, frankly, especially for £9.95 - that's right, less than $20. A little on the slow side - 9 weeks tonight and only one finishing so far (9 weeks on the packet), but they are getting bigger, and bigger, and bigger...:)

Well, my two Flos have certainly "got it in 'em"...

I just pulled 300 seeds exactly from two small branches of this Malawi Gold cross...:)

Very Nice. I hope it comes out better than you ever dreamed. Do you think your Malwi mother was typical, or did you happen to get lucky with a shorter pheno?
