What's new

Malawi 12/12 from start, what to expect?

Flower day 64

flowering,flowering..

Tall sativa looks nice. She hasnt shown that much nute sensitivity compared to small sativa

Indica pheno

Small sativa. She is bit sensitive. Ram horns on newer, smaller leaves.

What should i do with nutes? My original plan was every other watering. Every third or lovering ec? 0.3 for small sativa and 0.4for taller maybe.. indica doesnt seem to need any..

Any feedback on anything?

Ps. Sorry for pics sideway. Before uploadind they were ok.

If I was you, I would give some humic acid and seeweed, but mind you, I grow in soil.
Probably be even more sensitive with nutes?
Does it make sense at all?
For you

hi PAW

i can suggest to just let them be and most important not overwater.
I think the 'problem' with them has build up while the grow.
its hard to tell now what has happened, i try:

-too moist in first stages of growth and flowering
(the pots have to dry out so the roots can develop a strong system, the first 'drying-out' after induce flower is the MOST important! they show you when it is time to water -> fans will get very silk and drop slowly, the soil buffers the draught a decent time!)

-repot with more or less undeveloped root-system to a bigger container while being wet again

-feeding nutrients, where they wouldn't have need any because they were not rooted through the media. (over N, P lockout)

see the plant-biomass and the amount of soil you have? Its not in balance.

When the soil is wet and never dries out over time, anaerobic situation builds up, ph can get freaky -> rott and nutrient uptake problems follow.

If you have problems with frequent watering beeing away sometimes, try something like blumat(search ic) or a wick system.
But remember you want a strong developed root system before they go to the pump station.

I would really like to see a picture of the roots!

Hi rüdiger and thanks for your reply!

Lots of good info there and i thing you are right. i did some overwatering at first but ive been trying to not overwater them. 7dl of water every 3 days and they start to droop leaves a bit that time.

I will give you root pic soon as possible.

Btw gotta admire your expertice! :tiphat: I could never know those things

I agree with Rudiger.
Someone else said also that Malawi is very fussy about nutrients.
But Rudiger did pinpoint it.It builds up with time.
He's got a good eye ;)

opinions about adding some dolomitelime?

That would balance ph to around 7?

I have doubt how this grow end up,results wont be best thats for sure.. Hopefully dont mess up the rest.just have to do my best and hope for the best.
learning is a funny thing. You have to f something up and you learn.

let them be, not overtend them with further amendmends!
Let them dry till the pots feel light then give water.
not RO water, give them tap! you need the cal/mag in it.
they will give you nice product.
dont panic about some yellowing fan leaves. we grow buds not leaves.

I can really recommend to try a quality potting soil(ask the professional gardener of your choice) without any fertilizing.
grow a plant in good soil with only tapwater till harvest.
you will undestand very much after that. much more than every nute company tells on their 'magic bottles'.

Thanks again rüdiger :)

We grow buds not leaves! Hahah well said :D

I have this fear that they will dry and die. Couble of crops ago my hempys dryed and i lost a greal looking plant. But i try to let them dry as much as possible.

Actually i have bought quality soil and soil i have in malawi pots isnt bad eather. Friend of mine succested it (the one i bought) and said same thing: no need for nutes.

I am not big friend of bottle suggestion, their only goal is to sell as much as possiple. I always try to watch what plant wants, but it isnt easy for me. Couple of colleaques(read weed growers :D ) goes by the bottle instructions and its always the same thing:eek:verfert. And then they think did i give enough??

This is a great forum, lots of experienced people willing to help!

Yesterday small sativa lookd kinda shitty, most sensitive to nutes.Pots were quite dry, felt some moisture. As i told i have this fear letting pots completely dry. I dont have experience in soil how long water last there. gave them 1dl of water yesterday and check them today.

All in all,I have gave nutes 2 times, 0.4ec. Its not much but too much. didnt notice problem and gave nutes to plants, thought it had deficiency. Thanks to rüdiger pointing out poor root system.

Now iam wondering should i do something to small sativa? Indica is quite ok,leafy growth but no problem in leaves. Tall sativa has some prolems but i think it will be ok with just watering. Small sativa looks like it should get rid of excess nutes. Would not like to flush.

I`ll take photos today.

ay,

i would foliar feed some pk only and reduce light to 10/14.

maybe leave out the foliar feeding this time;), reduce light can be good idea.

and take the fence away i see no function. free malawi:biggrin:

you can start next round, there is much room i see.

the low fencing is a method for training large growing sativa's at a managable indoor height. i dont think u need it unless u regularly experiene ur plants getting too tall and burning in the light

Thanks.

I reduce lights. Ive been lazy to take of fence. It does nothing.

dont want more plants there, its much easier handle plants with some room. Also too much plants adds fire hazard. I have heater there.

PAW

its a cold place. In the other hand its quite easy to keep temperatures ok. Just adjust heater for minimum temp and then adjust fan for max temps. When light are off fan slowes down.

Greetings PunkAssWeed,

If the quality of the water is good and you didn't overfertilize then the problem is probably in the PH of your soil or water. Did you check the PH before and after adding the fertilzers?

The first 2 have very nice flowers! Kind regards.

Flowering day 81

Dubi, ph was 6 after adding nutes. Beginning of grow i just gave straigh from tap ph 8. Now i use vinegar to lower it. First 2 meaning sativa tall and indica?

ive been watering bit less and gave them some seaweed to recover from overnute,it seem to work. Now they started to make new pistils. 4-5day ago pistils were almost all brown.

There were almost no roots in repotted soil. Been overwatering them at the beginning.

But grow looks quite ok to me,happy at the moment. I was bit depressed about my mistakes for a while. Me learning :)

Sativa small

sativa tall

Indica looks quite ready
