i have some plants now in a hydro sustem and my ec level is 0,2-0,4
and i have great results.anything more burns ,especially
my beloved plant needs less from 0,4 ec.
this strain is the lowest feeder i ever had.
good luck with your malawi grow :tiphat:

Greetings PunkAssWeed,

You can use 2 liter pots to start them too. Malawi likes a lot water and humid weather, usually long droughts are not good for tropical sativas. Use slighty less strong feeding than with modern sativa/indica hybrids.

Good luck!

Thanks for your answer. Sorry to bother but what is your opinion about lights, how low i can go? 11/13 is ok i presume. There was argument in other thread about going as low as 10/14 could affect resin produktion.

Thanks. That was good info. I have 0,2-0,25 ec just in water. Im going with soil. I keep in mind that ec should be low.

Hi PunkAssWeed,

I would recommend you to start the flowering with 12/12 and then gradually lower down the photoperiod until 10/14 in the next 3 months.
It really helps the tropical sativa to flower faster, avoid regrowings in flowering and to stop excessive stretching.

Thanks for your reply.

Malawi grow project has started.

after 4days 4/4 malawis popped. Today i will put them under hps. I need to clean my grow box and install mh. I start with 2liter pots.

Im not sure if i have energy to make full grow journal but i will put some photos in this thread.

Malawis 2weeks old.

They are doing quite ok. Mayby little overwatering. Havent grown is soil in few years and have lost my touch a bit.

They are having 3rd set of leaves. aprox 13cm height.width 10cm. Nothing to see actually. will update pic when i put them under 12/12.

I dont know is it too early to "jugde plant by its leaves". but here is some observations.

There seems to be 1 with thin leaves, 1 with fat leaves and 2 with something in between.

Looks like growing is about to be a lot faster soon. 4 pair of leaves on its way.

flipped 12/12 today. veg 24days.

pics.

the one in back left is bit asymmetric and doest look as good as the other ones. most narrow leaves thou.

Back right is the biggest. healthy.

front left widest leaves, there have been this curling leaf thing whole time. overwatering?

I pinched them first time today. hopefully not too hard.

3 liter pots with 2 liter of soil.

All comments/tips are welcome.

Damn. Pinched too hard. The was some damage at leaves and in new growth. One shoot(? growing tip) died. Very violent topping method, hopefully universum doesnt punish me too hard for that.

plants have started to grow more wide than height. But it seems that iam in trouble with height anyways.

I really hope that i get only 1 female!

Tall ones are stretching quite a lot, they were more than halfway the growing height. I did super cropping(my first time) to taller ones. Squeze the stem and bend it 90deg. Hopefully i didnt kill them. was not sure about the techique. Supported them with wire.

Small ones are quite manageable at the moment. Not that much height grow, mostly bushy sideways grow.

When sativas get too tall I crush their stems in a few places and fold them in thirds or fifths. Your plants will barely skip a beat in response to the supercropping. ;)

Maybe I have misunderstund the supercropping.

Can you explain difference with your method and supercropping?

I crushed the stem and bend it. Basically the same, but didn fold.

I have trouble with my english," barely skip a beat" what does that mean? Its doing harm to plants? Will slow height grow only little?

" barely skip a beat" means that the plants will hardly be affected by that method and the growth of the plant will not be slowed down.
What your doing by crushing the stem and bending it is a great method for controlling height on sativas, especially if you are running out of head room for the plants or if they are growing too close to your HPS bulb/s. :tiphat:
I'm pulling up a chair to watch the rest of your grow show brother :D
:plant grow:

Thanks b00m!

My plan is not to restrickt grow only height. I would love to have huge growspace with these.very good and healthy grow.

Thank you Boom! What I meant exactly!

Sorry for my American dialect PAW! You'll have no problems with your method. I go even further if needed and fold the plants, then tie something loosely around the stem to keep it all together.

Looking really good :tiphat:

I recon the tall one are males and the two small females will do just fine together.

Have fun

pics. 2 week flower.

I got my first female. from previous pictures front left, short one.

I spread them for picture. Left front(small) is on the left and right front(tall) is on the right. 3/4 supercropped. female is natural,oh well, pinched.

The one on the right(tall) has thinnest leaves and the on left(female) has widest. Two in the middle are quite the same.

First female. I could quess that this is slightly faster than the rest?

It would be nice to have(if i have another female) second on the left as a female. there would be two different phenos. and it is short.

I gave them just a splash of nutes veg week 3(half of desi or 1.6 fl.oz) and the burnt them selves. I thought it would not do harm. ec was aprox. 0.6. When I get rest of the sexes i will repot females to 5liter pot. I think I need fert them max 1-2 times,or maybe not at all.

so far so good!

lookin good. im loving following the logs on here

question: if they are 100% sativa, why are the leaves wider than some? iv wondered this for some time. people say that some sativa's will sometimes display wide leaves early on, but iv grown sativa dom hybrids that develop thin leaves at week 1 of veg (not including seedling stage). why would the pure sativa's not display this but some hybrids would? got some malawi beans n i cant wait to see how they go. big fan of ace and cbg

Not completely sure but it seems that 3 males. 90%sure.

Oh well its good that there is only one. Not get too crowded.

Any suggestion for breeder? Left back would be othervise good, narrow leaves but he doesnt look healthiest.

both of tall ones are healthier and bigger but have bit wider leaves.
