Don't Try This At Home

Don't Try This At Home

Sorry, it's been awhile to update...I've been ill. :badday: :pointlaug

The plants are burnin on nutes, so I'm flushing Runt while typing this. So far this grow has been more of a learning step, and I have learned alot. Like this nute burn I have now, I knew I was probably pushing them too hard, but I wanted to see what the result would be. I can say, don't break over many large branches already into flowering or the plant will just produce tons of very sparse mini-buds. That said, Queen is definitely a mess...here's a quick pic...

Don't try this at home kids...maybe if I tie her up real tight so she is one big bud! :yoinks:

Oh well what are ya gonna do... :fsu:

MGJ..that bubbling the water idea is great, no need for any pH UP.
Growdoc..Runt has got spots on the leaves, tips curled under and over, tips nute burned, leaves light burned, had hot roots, low pH, and salt build up...I'm just gonna start flushing her now...what ever happens happens, but thanks for all your help along the way. Besides I have some very nice plants that would gladly like to take the place under the 400w HPS.
protege...thanks for the props.

Remember my objective was I had some seeds and I wanted to turn them into buds. That mission is accomplished. My new mission will be to produce better buds. :woohoo:

Hiya packn
Wow - missed this post when I replied to you in my thread. Sorry to hear man, happens to us all at times - I overnuted too. Had to drag em outside to flush. And flush and flush :biglaugh:

Although your trimming job may be longer you'll still get the weight of bud and I bet it will still smoke very nice! And you did a bang up job on runt! Runt indeed!!! :biglaugh:

You did a bang up job while learning. Been an inspiration to me!

Hope ur feeling better.... :joint:

Did your plants catch it too Pack? You could always cut off the top foot or so and let the plants concentrate on filling out the lower sites.I dont know how much you flushed, but remember to leave a little something in there for them as they have a bit to go yet. I wouldnt write them off though, its amazing what a plant can come back from, and a few days ago they looked healthy enough, so I cant see you have done that much damage in that time.

I flushed both plants with Botanicare Clearex Nutrient Salt Leaching Solution for the first two gallons, then just filtered tap bubbled about 7.8 pH until run-off was around 6.0-6.5 pH and below TDS [email protected] or 1.0 mS EC, finally water with 1 tsp (5ml) + 1 tsp CalMagPlus + 1/4 tsp Kool Bloom. B-care suggests folier spraying with pure water prior to flush which I did before and during. They are both pretty sticky, especially Runt with trichomes.

All my pics up till the last one was either of Runt or with Queen in the back. Queen would have turned out fine if I hadn't kept breaking her over at such a late stage and so far down on main stems. I'm not gonna do anything to the BD indica dom I have growing now. Which incidently I found today looked like the leaf tips had a tell-tell sign of nute burn also, but I've hardly feed them. I flushed them too to find on the first run-off 5.4 pH 4500ppm :yoinks: ...I hardly fed them. I have a theories: 1 The GH Diamond Nectar is causing the time release nute pellets that come mixed in the soil to metabolize too quickly, 2 the Clearex breaking down salts raises TDS ppm so run-off is alarmingly high.

GMT...I was thinking about chopping on Queen :chin: What you see in that last pic is the last third of her, most of her lowest growth tops have died off not their leaves, but the tops. I clipped one little veggy looking still somewhat alive lower top...shaved a little bark off...and just put it in a cup of water under the 18/6 veg light. Lets see how tough she is now, see if she can clone old school. :sasmokin: Not even worthy of a hum-dome. I'll laugh my ass off it it actually takes off. :pointlaug

MGJ...I'm gonna change my user name to "Flush" if this keeps up, at least my title. :badday: It's like I was saying it almost had to be done this way to gain real life experience. I think it helps train your intuition. :ying: With the new plants I was right on'um as soon as the tide began to turn. :dueling: Hope fully a pic of Runt tommorrow.

sorry for this...

sorry for this...

What i am about to say, even i dont like to hear...
Plants can be saved yes, but at this point you have to Balance time and energy.

In my case(for me) i would kill them off and pick out any good buds, set the aside to dry... Then i would make water hash/ice-o-lator from the rest...

The time and energy that you will need to give to your sick girls should be focused on the new ones instead, but thats my opinion... the more you grow the more you know...

Ol Spotty

Thanks MGJ...I believe it so much, I'm really not that bumbed at all..well Queen's mess is kinda screwed, but other than that I feel more empowered about what I'm doing. I saved the other two quick, before anything bad could happen. If I hadn't already been down that road I might be asking why they are drooping, and was it OK I cut off all the drooping leaves. :pointlaug

Growdoc...I'm gonna do a little of both, some chopping some I will let continue to grow a bit longer. Queen might go through a little experiment, along the lines of what GMT was talking about. Runt will for the most part finish. Pure water from here to the end to finish flushing. I'm thinking 13 days more...If they make it..Runt filled in a little more today.

I shot some pics of Runt to show her buds a little and the spotting I was talking about...So here she is :nanana:
Runt aka Ol Spotty

Spotty Leaf Bud

I'm not sure what caused the spots, maybe Manganese or Calcium lockout. Actually I think I had alot of lockout occuring. All the plants seem to have enjoyed the flush. All are doing better now.

Thats a bit more than just a little overfeeding mate. How are the temps in there? Dont feed any of them what ever your doing from now on, just a little tap water. You want a ph of 6 for next week then bring up to 7 for last couple. If you want to harvest anything from them, you've got a bit longer to wait. Runt looks about a week behind my D plant (and in better condition than I imagined from your last pic) which will be 2 weeks I reckon. Some of this may have been affected by a lack of fan leaves slowing down the rate at which the plant could metab....(however you spell that word) all the nutes. But needs must ay Pack.
Just taking wild guesses though.

not bad for a makeshift mini garden! Id say at this point you could call it a success even with the nutrient problems or whatever stress is going on.

GMT..Yep Queen is one weird plant. The stems just dont stop growing and multiplying. It's like she forgot to stop growing and elongating her stems. I don't know what hormone causes that but I must have set it off breaking over all those main stems too far into flowering. She gives a nice high though, I really like the head high she gives. Doesn't over-slow your thinking, while perception is heightened nicely. Good video game buzz. :dueling:

dubmantx..Righteous man, thanks for stoppin by this neck of the crop.

Growdoc...I want to make some hash, now I got to figure out how to do it. I did make some "Pseudo Buds" out off some of Queens mess. I shot a pic of both. I just slide my fingersdown the stems and gather flowers that get all bunched up...mash them together...sticky as hell...dry as normal. Just an experiment to see how the insides of the pseudo buds look and taste later on. :fsu:

Queen Mutant Bud :bat:

Pseudo Buds :deadhorse

I didn't cut her all the way down yet, I need to produce smoke. No matter what it looks like. Enough room to add the two BD's in to flower. Might transplant the BD's tonight or tomorrow.

Just lettin em go for now...hack a little piece off queen every now and then. The two BD's have now joined Runt and Queen under the HPS. :woohoo:

Queen's mutant buds are stoney :kos: ...Haven't even taken from Runt yet.
Runt's going to the end, 8 weeks so far at 12/12. Nothing but water from here on out.

GMT...we all know I'm not makin that mistake again.. :pointlaug

MGJ...Queen is very sticky and stoney, that's the only reason I keep her around. I pushed her off into the corner to make room for the two new ones in the flower room. I'm sure she got too much of alot of stuff. :pointlaug :fsu:

Have you taken a clone from queen, if you like her? Still not too late if not.

packn are you flushing them?

im trying to figure out which one i should do when the time comes.
if you could, could you take alot of pictures of the bud sizes and the plant growth right before you stratdoing the final procedure and then at time of harvest. that way you can mark how well it turned out.

GMT... I did take from Queen and Runt, more on that in a second.

Whats up JetUsUp...They are officially getting flushed...Sometimes with a little Diamond Nectar to adjust my pH and help use up what's left in the soil.

Well the pseudo buds were a bust...I went to air them a little today, and to my chagrin mold had started to form. So I picked off..what mold I could see...and decided to put then in the oven for just a few minutes to kill off the mold. That idea took off like a lead zeppelin. I was typing this and turned around to see the kitchen full of smoke. Five minutes at 350F and they were done. It smells like the cherry surprise in a TV dinner than weed. The comedy never stops here. I lost like 7 grams. When nobody is looking, I'll smoke it anyway even if I get farmers lung. It's safe to say, I probably cooked the mold. It was all my fault for trying to slow dry them too early. Oh well glad it was the pseudo buds. :badday:

I took a clone from Queen and Runt and made two little bubblers out of water jugs, little airstones...just two holes in the top add water and clones. White trash beautiful. :nanana:

Runt Clone...little one on left in tap 7.0pH..............Queen Clone in RO 6.5pH.

Love the cloners packn! :woohoo:

Sorry about your pseudobuds. I've smoked my share of bud in the oven too - took 3 days for the oven to work again :biglaugh:

lol Pack, turned the oven into a big vapourizer hey. I think thc evapourates around 280 so at 350 you should have put a tea towel over both your head and the oven door to keep the smoke in and inhaled deeply.

You're right GMT...I have a big HDTV that could have done the initial job of drying first...or behind my supercomputer...Built a new dream machine gaming PC that is smokin fast and gets pretty warm and uses 8 fans. Always build my own with hand picked parts.
This one has AMD64 FX51 Sledgehammer Core 1MB of L2 cache, BFG AGP Nvidia 6800 GT overclocked Video, Audigy2 zs Sound, 1GB(1024MB) of Corsair Dual Channel Low Latency Pro DDR 3200, 2-74GB WD 10,000 RPM SATA Raptor hard drives in Raid 0, Asus A8V Deluxe Mother Board w/ Via Chipsets K8T800Pro & VT8237, and a bunch of other fun stuff...a bit off topic. :off2:

I'll try doing the pseudo buds again, but air um out first next time. :pointlaug
