Mac vs. PC - the great debate

L

LolaGal

ANY PC can become a Mac now... :)

I am thinkin about getting a $300 special PC and converting to MAC OS X.... lol.

Then I will get a cheap laptop and once I kill the Windows OS , it should work just fine...

PCs are always crashing. I gave them up when I called the Windows $7.99 per minute hotline and figured out that I knew more than the "experts" did. Yup, cost me like $40 to figure out the experts did not know how to fix anything.

Since I switched to Mac, have not lost a single file, and have never had my computer crash once!!!!!!!!!! THAT IS WHY MAC is better... It don't break.

:)

The other thing I like best about Macs is that if common sense tells you to do something, that is likely how it works.

PCs are huntin, pickin, figurin out a backdoor into everything. Nothing is simple on a PC.

Mac users like to let PC users know that there is hope out there.

If you like a computer that works, and does not give you any trouble EVER, then get a Mac.

Or, get a PC and convert the OS to MAC. Should work just fine then.

Ha Lola. Doesn't matter really. There are a whole bunch of pc folks here that run windows and never have... a) blue screen, b) to have to force restarts, c) never have viruses, d) lost files due to directory errors, e) faster machines, f) security issues.

At least that is what they say. LOLOL.

I seriously don't get this..

I must be computer blessed or something..a freak of computerdom..

If you do proper maintanance (wich is nothing btw). Just run a few programs and leave em running. Maybe every few years a new windows install and/or format. You should be ok..

It seems Macs really are for the dumbusers of the world...atleast a big part of Mac users..

With PCs a yearly format was bare minimum, I usually tried to keep the computer as clear and clean as possible with expensive but paid for antivirus stuff, defragmented it, really didn't install much software....It was like clockwork, the computer would bog down half a year or 3/4 a year into a new format/resintallation of window. Not to mention macs really do start up faster and shutdown faster than every PC I've ever owned, even right out of the box. I don't know what to expect with macs but the os, design, and lack of consumer hassle are so worth it that it makes me wanna hump a log, and then some.

so far the biggest problem with my mac is that i cant rghtclick on the desktop and say 'make new document' or picture or this or that filetype.
iphoto is ok if you have your photos with correct dates on em but i like manually organizing them which i cant do with iphoto.
so i kinda use both depending on what i need.

i did have to buy ms office bc i grew up on it, it's essential compared to the basic program that comes with a mac
but everything else the mac has built in like imovie is great, calendar, widgets, all of this useful stuff.
just in general the operating system to me is soooooooooo much more fluid, convenient, and practical.

windows not only has become more dumbed down in sucessive versions for the avg user
but it barely comes with any of this handy stuff that mac does, it just doesn't feel designed properly.
what has even happened since windows 95?
then came windows 98
then windows ME, windows millenium, was there a windows 2000 i dont even know??
then vista
ive been through them all
and the advances they have seem to have made with regard to fluidity/practicality/productivity seem to pale incomparison to the mac i have now
al those windows OS's ive been through seem like a blur, nothing really changed, they all just made me feel dumber along the way
and all felt more restrictive along the way
granted some things obviously improved, but it was like the flair in that movie office space - bare minimum! not good enough!

mac takes into account so many things it seems windows doesn't.
i dunno. im pretty competent in computers and am no pro or hardcore user but for advanced yet average use the mac blows me away.
love it. cant believe i love a computer this much. what is going on?!? it's just a computer! but the love is there bc life is made so much easier with it. maybe i am just neurotic, no. just like to be organized and fluid and not waste time doing things. mac caters to my needs like that, in the end.

my utter disdain for window's half-assotry over the years combined with the consumer/technical/design aspects of how apple has approached things really just make me love this mac. windows os sucks the life out of me. i hate it, i want to punch it. it feels like bare minimum.
it feels like someone is watching over me and holding my hand with everything i do. it feels like im in an empty barren hall that smells like mothballs.
all windows is to me now is WINDOWS. there are so many windows i have to go through to get to what i want!!!! LOL!

i used to hate macs back in the day, but now they're so primo that i want to rub them on ma face

anyways, what i originally (lol) wrote & came here to proclaim before going on a tangent was:
another day with a sleek and sexy mac, humping some lap.

the 'top of the line' dell laptop would overheat like a banshee and slow down like a poodle
this mac is as quiet and cool as a pristine mountain lake
it is thin
and the operating system makes my balls tingle like the cool breeze
top of the line computers for ordinary everyday tasks that fry my balls are so out
usually i get angry at computers and treat them like shit
i actually care about this computer, and genuinly enjoy it
tasks have been made easier and everything flows well, saving me frustration
in the end, quality of life is so greatly improved just by a computer that i have to pinch myself

just dropping in

There's was lot's of awesome quotes after my last post, but I had to pick this one!
LOL :D
...It says it as it is, finally you PC-guys know the truth!

But seriously, just to make clear:
ALL COMPUTERS ARE EVIL!!!

(Macs are just little less evil than PCs) ;)

How many Windows haters here have used Windows 7? IMO, it's even more user-friendly than OS X, equally as intuitive, and is faster too (for the money). And it has useful tools, like drive encryption, virtual hard disk booting, and the small things like the Notes application.

keep in mind that all of the school systems use pc's so those generations of kids will grow up on pc's. IMO it's all a product of environment. I grew up on PC'S I never used a mac. When I was in school we used PC'S and that was a very long time ago. If I was introduced to Mac's early in age I would more then likely have a differing opinion on them.

Win 7 is a major improvement in Microsoft's OS. It is more like xp but much better. Vista Sucked and I paid allot for that version anyone want to buy it lol

Macs Rule,
PCs drool.

I can still sell my 12 year old Mac Power Book for $1200. Can you sell your 12 year old PC at ANY price?
TWELVE?

our school system used macs....i grew up on those ones with 5 inch screens and the ball mouse and that crap. later on in highschool they got those colourful cube macs, and we figured out how to delete extensions and bypass the password, change our grades, steal the RAM from underneath the computer, yeah, we reaped those macs hard.

must admit though, back then when macs were glorified calculator/wordpads, PCs were messing with napster and gaming. Now apple products are taking over and theyve done a full scale flip on PCs. options for both now, mac products are no longer exuberantly priced. Now it seems to me PCs are teh poor mans computer for, making do. of course for a fraction of the price...they both do the same, just a little differently. if you HAVE the money get both, if you HAVE the money, get a mac. if you dont have money, make your own pc from parts, or i spose a pc on the cheap..........maybe. obsolete when you buy it:S

I guess there not all the same my sons school uses PC'S my old school uses pc's. My nephew and niece school in Oregon uses pc's

in my lifetime ive ran through 5 diffrent pc's...i'll never forget my first computer..it was a compaq...back in the aol 1.0 days...ive always had issues with them...eventually they all crapped out....i bought a USED macbook 3 years ago and it works just as well as the day i bought it...not a single issue...they only thing ive done was add osx a few months after i bought it...

from my experience pc's stink...what sucked even more was that they died out from normal usage..im not pc savy...nor do i use 1000 programs...all i use computers for was hit the web and type a bunch of papers for school...I would buy a pc and before u knew it my pc was worth shit and the new improved version was 10 times better for the same price i paid for the old one....anyway...pc's suck ballz..

i'll take my USED $300 Macbook over any pc any day

They had from Windows 3.1 through Windows Vista to get that basic shit down. They lost me.

I was laughing the other day when I saw them advertising the taskbar which looks similar to the mac's, now.
As if it were some revolutionary new thing, suggested by their users.
I couldn't believe it. What a joke, it's like they are shameless!

And while I'm on a rantlet, what was that whole Windows "Mojave" thing? Wtf? That just confused me. lol! edit: Ah dont answer I don't even care. lol.

It's because it's a 17 inch laptop. they are still in demand with the people who EDIT your movies :)

All movie trailers are made on Macs. It is the standard when you need a real computer... heehee.

we used to laugh about it in school, NO ONE buys apple, making fun of apple for getting a contract with the school district to fill our their sales. Such as, NO ONE buys kia, and now look at them both. They both actually make decent products...................now.

If they would make Mac's more affordable they could monopolize the computing world by doing this. I agree that mac's are a good product nice and fancy looking. I see many folks at the store browsing the first thing they look at is the price and move to the pc isle.

Well Macs are clearly the more useful machines, what with their powerful server operating systems, Enterprise support and 95% market share. I mean, every piece of software on the market works with it, especially games and database programs. Almost every business network in the world is comprised of NOTHING but Macs!

Oh oops, not Macs, I meant PC's . ;)
