Looking for that PINE!

Sorry I've been vacant. Sense of smell has returned so that is good. Have the Romulan and the Skywalker OG in veg and will probably flip them all next week. Plants took a little while to get going as my seedling station isn't very well climate controlled (chilly and low humidity) once I got them in the tent and transplanted into bigger pots they took off. Got one runt that I will transplant and throw outside. The Skywalker are fems and the Romulan are regs, not showing any pre-flowers yet.

Those Romulan BX1 from Romulan Genetics are really appealing! I hope they live the legend, and that pine we loved is still there. Thanks for sharing about your run. I'm still hesitating about spending that much money on them.. Have a great one!

I heard that Romulan described as couch lock inducing, not really what I am looking for but that in anecdotal so I'll see for myself. Apologies for no photos (boring) I'll post some up this week I promise.

Got some first signs of flowers coming in now, not much pine in the stem rubs but its pretty early.

I have one Romulan male that has awesome structure, have set that aside for possible breeding and will take clones of it.

I have two phenos of the Skywalker OG, one very indica/afghani looking with nice structure, the other very lanky/branchy with large inter-nodes and a little narrower leaves.

Another Pine smelling/flavored strain I didn't see mentioned is Trainwreck. Its very piney/lemon smelling.

79 Xmas Bud is very piney, but more like a evergreen bush vs a pine forest type pine. I ran 4 and the phenos varied from straight pungent evergreen pine, to a more 50/50 blend of evergreen pine and citrus. Was a seed run though so I never actually smoked any of it, so can't vouch for potency or flavor smoked.

White Widow also has an element of Pine to it, but more of a minty pine and general weed smell than just pine.

I just popped a CSI pine tar kush but its still early veg so it will be a while before I get any idea of how the terps will play out.

I've found at least 1 in all of the projects with A5hbx in them. Another good candidate for pine is THH. IMO THH outcrosses will produce better quality plants.

This one is THH x A5hbx x Mac at 67 days. Should be done at 80 days.

All pine terps.. Pine aroma should be notable very early into flower. It's a strong volatile terpene.

I'll look forward to your report.

I gotta agree with the romulan recommendations, a pheno of jillybean I have that is space queen leaning has some nice hashy pine to it definitely not from the c99 or orange velvet although the orange velvet pheno is pretty hashy

Growth on the top is better than the lowers. Its tight with 4 plants in a 2 x 2. Should have used smaller pots and flipped earlier. They weren't happy at 1st and I dont like to go into flower until the plants are doing better.

We'll see how it goes. This isn't my best work by any means but I'm just testing out the genetics for the pine and will be taking cuts should anything good be found. I'll keep updating this thread as the buds continue to develop and terps start revealing themselves.

So things are coming along nicely. Buds are fattening and ripening. I took a pic maybe 5-6 days ago but they look even nicer now (but its lights out). I will take a new pic(s) tomorrow and get it up to share.

As for terps, a little pine kinda of coming through on both strains. Not quite the alpine forest smell I'm after but its still early. One has a sweeter smell kind of like a fir tree vs a pine tree. Maybe a little citrus in there as well. I believe that is the Romulans. The Skywalker OG is hard to describe, also a little sweet smelling and almost a little perfumey like laundry detergent.

I'm looking forward to both in general although I am hoping to nail down some really piney genetics with a little more balanced energy. All the bud reports/strain reviews I've read on Romulan and Skywalker describe them as strong Indica.

The pine bud I remember had an uplifting energy. I think some haze of sorts needs to enter the equation here, maybe like the old school white widow or northern lights?

I still have some 79' xmas bud beans to explore. The other thing that caught my attention was that Florida strain someone pointed me towards, Cripp I think it was.
