I feel as though a section should be added for those of us trying to find seeds that are no longer in production.

Having said that I am in search of some older packs of god bud and would trade most anything I have for a pack.

PM with any leads.

Can't believe I'm gonna admit this but......... BCBuddepot used to sell clones of their moms(2004/2005-ish).......Godbud included. I know they have a horrible rep and maybe I just got lucky........But the clone of godbud I got was killer smoke, a bitch to clone though......Their blueberry and meriville(sp?) blueberry clones were nothing special.......Think it was like $125 for 3 clones or something like that..........Ended up losing her due to a "dating the wrong chick" issue I had lol.......Been chasing her ever since....The cut I mean, not the chick lol.

I've grown their Godbud reg seeds and a couple of other strains since then with very average results........def can see why they have the rep they do unfortunately.

Ive tried JOI's godbud which would've been around 2009 maybe and got one girl that I kept around for a bit but it was nothing like that cut I got from bcbuddepot (can't believe I said that outloud lol, but it's true, still chasing her).

Goodluck with your search man, hope ya find what yer looking for..........and when ya do, please make seeds lol!!

only tried a few so far, but one was really chunky and blockheaded square tops. smelled sour and skunky, so def leaned to dad. the other was a classic purple indica skunk, with a really nice, soft mossy, floral smell taste. hope to find a God type or two next time I pop some. also used a nice male of it to hit up Purple Kush and Critical Kush...seeds came out nice ;)

Hey BB, I noticed these for sale on another site...........Was def thinking of giving yer God cross a go. Have they been tested OD by chance? Man, Purple Kush X Godbud would be epic I'm sure!!

Great lineup man!!!

I remember some guy named Dan Vanpot offering some godbud crosses, it was said he had the original but I'm not sure? Anyone else hear of this guy?

Good luck finding God Bud in seed form.
Most of the stuff I've seen from various places is sativa dom so not authentic.
The clone going around the lowermanland is not the indica dom God Bud cut that won the cup.
there is a guy in BC working with the original , I've seen it, smoked it.... 100% legit.
getting him to release seeds, not so much

well i wish him all the best but sharing is caring. our life times here are very limited, no weed will stay with us forever. so if the parting is inevitable why wait till deathbed? share joy now, it can benefit so many people.

I bought a pack of F2s from CAD/US through HD. Couldn’t resist the price. Asked Brad if it's really God Bud, as they are listed as God. He confirmed it’s God Bud, but didn’t, unfortunately, answer my question as to whether the original cup-winning clone was used and/or JOTI’s seed stock. Maybe he didn’t know.

Also grabbed BH’s Freeze x God Bud.

In Canada , cannabis was legalized nearly a year ago so while I absolutely agree with your comments , you make good sense. However, with legalization came legal definitions for what is legal and what is not.
Us Canadian breeders are under more threat from the law than ever before and the ones who want to stay in it for the long haul are not releasing the old stuff. Instead they are working lines and preserving in hopes of a more relaxed climate in the future.

the guys who hold many of these cuts were well known back in the 90's and very early 2000's. That they choose to stay out of the current game is actually a credit to them and I hope they are able to track down and source more stuff for preservation. I've been a small part of that but that's for another conversation.

I'll see if I'm allowed to take some pictures next time I visit their garden.

edit.>>> buddy here helping me harvest is from Roberts creek BC. I have to go down and help him harvest 700 plants in a top secret coastal location after we are done here.
He tells me the JOTI family has a website. So I just googled it with my sticky fingers and lo and behold I found it quite easily.
Not sure how much like the original it is but the do list God Bud seeds on their site.

remove the stars, not sure about how this place handles links.

mr underhill, oh i see, as i said all the best to him, kudos to the man for preserving the genetics. as for joti bigbag run a pack of their god bud several years ago and found no plants resembling original dvp's god bud.

hey Shmavis, thanks for the hint, tell me if you will run them please

not to spark debate but I've been around.
DVP's version of god bud is not the original.
The cup winning God Bud was bred by Jordan of the Islands using the God cut , a purple indica and a common Hawaiian in Vancouver island breeding circles. I can't remember where the God strain originated but the combination that gave us the seeds that the cup winner pheno was found in was all Jordan of the Islands.
Unfortunately since the big pinch, nothing from Joti has been the same. Still good I hear but not the same.
The pink pistilled original is still around. I will see if I can get some pics when I'm visiting and will pry for a cut :)

ok, thank you for setting things straight.

do you happen to know what was the point for dave vanpot to make his own god bud move? if joti original god bud seeds were selling at the time why cone up with yet another version, make no logic to me. or dvp's god bud came after joti? how do these 2 differ?

not sure.
back in the first half of the 2000's the seed game started to explode as more and more people were getting online.
There were many guys trying to strike a name for themselves using the recently released work of others. While I do not accuse anyone of anything a similar example of joti's god bud vs dave's god bud would be to compare breeder steve's shishkaberry and cash crop ken's Kish. Kish was simply an F2 of spice of life seeds that marc directed away from the store to be bred for more stock. Albeit without steve's permission.
The seed game has been pretty cut throat right from the beginning of it all but God Bud is all Jordan's and one of the cup winning cuts that made the dutch call us Vansterdam

discussing this with my crew and it's not dave vanpot it is Dan
He is associated with the BC bud depot
david strange and dan vanpot are associated with skunk magazine.

I'm trying to get details directly from people in the circles instead of the internet but the original God Bud still tracks back to Jordan of the Islands. It does appear that the 2004 cup winning cut was grown in Dan Vanpots garden according to Skunk magazine so I am trying to track down a relationship between Dan and Jordan's crew thru people I know that have worked with Jordan.
My first experience with Jordan's God Bud was in Oregon , a full year before the Amsterdam cup entry.
sometimes I get OCD about these things so you never know what I will discover when I do some digging LOL

Back when I first started looking at buying seeds somewhere abouts '09 one of my first purchases was God Bud from BCBD. I fell for the high times ads and didn't know any better. The first pack they sent didn't germ and then someone from BCBD used my cc to buy a plane ticket to Russia and shop at Auto Zone so I had to cancel it. But they sent a second pack that came from Holland instead of Canada and 10 years and hundreds of strains later the replacement godbud pack that came via Holland is still one of my favorite of them all. I loved the purpling on the undersides of the fan leaves and the tropical lavender berry smell reminded me of the best Hawaiian herbs of my youth. More than anything I loved the happy, warm-blanket potency. The original God clone must have been something special.
