Guess what?!! There is one more butterfly in the world this morning.
Clarence has hatched and is hangin out on a flower outside. Rainy day, so Clarence is just hanging out, waiting for the rain to let up to fly away.
Woke up to a fully hatched and formed butterfly in a jar.
Will have another one tomorrow morning I would guess.
The chrysalis is clear now and there is still a little gold trim on it.

Here's the first one to hatch out today. She/he ?? sat on the flower I provided for about 6 hours. Once it quit raining, I was lucky enough to see it fly away...headed southwest... straight towards Mexico..
This picture shows how it is still puffing up it's abdomen or whatever you call it... hardening into a regular butterfly is what I mean.
There will be a new butterfly in the morning.
It's fun letting them go..

new butterfly born wow! pop & it was here. update with pics soon
I did not know but newborn butterflies bite!
I had the second on my hand, letting it's wings harden, taking pics, and it used it's jaws and bit me!
I think it's some type of behavior for getting out of it's chrysalis?
Surprised me for sure! Didn't hurt, but did not feel pleasant!
